We all loved the experience. The food was exceptional, unique pairings of things that may not always go together, but were out of this world. Loved the beef tartare, tomato/sardine combination, duck, seabass, hangar steak. Pretty much everything we ate. I think the service especially stood out. The kitchen was slammed & our mains took longer to get to us. We were not in a rush but it was nice that that waitstaff acknowledged it & comped our dessert. An unexpected, yet thoughtfful gesture that goes a long way.
Everything was excellent but I will remember the beef tartare & sea bass for a long time
Had a great dinner at Casavant. we were a bif group so they accomodated us with a wonderful set menu. Everything they sent out was delicious. The Beef tartare & Scallops really set the bar high for the rest of the courses. Each dish server tastefully transitioned you from the last course to the next, allowing your pallet to taste the flavours of each ingredient.
The Price was very reasonable at 75$ a head, I felt like I got to taste alot of great food.
Atmosphere was great, the server & host notice anything to make your time better & offer to help. really unfortunate with the construction on the street but welcome to Montreal.
If you're a down for a nice dinner with levels of freshness & Quality ingredients, come try Casavant.
Great food & service. The sauce for the steak was very rich & amazing. The lobster pasta was also bursting with seafood flavour. The favourite for the table was the beef tartare- a must try.
What a gem of a restaurant! The appetizers were delicious. We had the scallops & the beef tartare as appetizers; then duck & the sea bass for mains. All the dishes were amazing but our favorite was the scallops - we could have had 2 more orders! Had just enough room left to share the maple cake dessert :)
Top-5 beef tartare from a tartare lover. Top-notch ingredients across the board & some well-curated dishes/drinks. Small menu, small spot, but lively. I'm solo at the bar with dates behind me & a group of 10 to my right - all vibes are valid. Arrived underdressed after a day at the park & was treated with nothing but smiles.
This restaurant is awesome!!! We weren't feeling that hungry so we went with their smaller portioned dishes. Our serveuse Claire was amazing. We got all the pertinent information about their dishes & experienced great service. Their scallop dish in particular blew us away. Seriously, everyone s gotta try it! Their beef tartare & mushroom dish were great as well. Oysters were very fresh & their cucumber sauce was a light yet amazing touch that enhanced the taste. Would recommend 100%
My wife & I ate at Casavant while visiting Montreal this weekend & had an all around lovely experience. We were definitely the only non-Francophones in attendance but all staff from the owners to servers were so kind & helpful. They helped us through the wine list & we ended up with a perfect bottle. We shared the scallops, beef tartare, duck & seabass. All four dishes were incredible, but the scallops were a favourite. One of the owners made us a list of other restaurants, bars & sites to see when he found out it was our first time in Montreal.
All around great experience & would highly recommend.
They don't do restaurants like this anymore. The service was excellent, every ingredient was fresh. Best beef tartare I've ever tasted. Would definitely recommend, & would definitely go back
Had high hope for this Resto, based on review & the traffic laden drive from old Montreal to this place. The space was beautiful & well appointes, from lighting to segmentation of the areas, 5-star on that front.
Service was inconsistent, while one atadd was very attentive as we observed, she wasn't ours, alas. Our waitress, one wearing glasses, was cooly & nonchalant, & taking up an approach of walking from point a to point b without a side glance to check on the needs of her charge. Her unfrinedness contrasts the other staff sharply.
Consequently, the food seemed less tasty. I find the beef starter excellent but the scalp & chorizo made hubby sick once back to the hotel. The fish dish was bland. Generally speaking the offering lacks uniqueness & a flavor punch.
Price was very reasonable. But I much rather pay more to get an outstanding experience than a middle ground that is a mile short.
Not recommending to others with discerning palette.
