Food wasn't great plus I got really sick from it. My husband get sick during dinner.... My steak was so charred it tasted burn, lacked flavour & came with only mashed potatoes no vegetables. The bread was burn on the bottom & tasted like it. The wedge salad lacked flavor, the wedge at The Keg is a million times better. The waiter was great, super nice & funny. The restaurant is outdated & a little too dark. Definitely being generous with the 3 stars ....

It was hopping for a Monday night,l (a year ago, late review) which I was very happy to see. We ordered some appetizers to share (salmon tartare, beef tartare, & tuna sashimi). Hubby & mum-in-law loved the tuna sashimi best. For plump oysters on half shell, wait for the season. Now is not the season. Bread basket was an eye pleaser & caraway pumpernickel bread delish. I ordered a filet mignon topped with melted brie on top of garlic mashed potatoes with a reduction of red wine sauce, absolutely sublime. The steak was perfectly seasoned & cooked perfectly medium, & cuts like butter. Our son ordered the cowboy steak, rare, & it came very rare. Its nice to see a restaurant cook the steaks exactly to customer's request. Its so easy to fail it & they passed with flying colors. Took my girlfriend to 40 west for the first time because I wanted to see what the hype was all about.
I received probably the best service I’ve gotten in ANY restaurant in my life. The grilled octopus & T bone steak was my favourite.
The manager Joey took special care of us as well. The restaurant was packed & he took the time to explain all the different cuts of steaks & made the best recommendations.
Extremely professional, knowledgeable & charming dude.

we were a group of 21 for lunch , the bill was presented to us with same amount each of us neither if you had wine or not divided by 21 so the ones who did not wished to have wine were billed same amount of the wine drinkers, no details how many bottles, & the tips were billed 18% including total of bottles which is not supposed to be taxable & tips added full swing!! so it means never again for celebration of birthday november 2022
Starting with the wine, We ordered a 2013.bottle of wine & they served us a 2015.
The caeser salad is less then ordinary & saggy for a high end scale restaurant.
I ordered a prime rib, it was too thin & tasted like charcoal dipped in fat, I asked to change it for a roast beef slice , & this cut came much worst, very tough to eat. The waiter was nice, he asked me & said very tough hen? I said yes & put it on the side. He went to talk to the manager.
At the end we asked for the bill, & of course it was the manager who brought the bill, not the waiter who I complained to, with my stake on the bill. Both my husband & I found this very low for this so called high end restaurant. We paid the bill & left unhappy & not satisfied from the meal.

Finally we went back to one of our favorite restaurant. The website is easy. Hours & menu are flexible & exactly the same. Food was ready on time for pickup & was very good. Not too cooked, same flavors. We are happy to go back & have our Friday moment with 40 Ouest nice dinner.
We tried ordering a 2013 red wine & received 2017.
I ordered plantain chips & received costco crackers.
Truffle mac & cheese is infused with artificial oil. I was sick all night.
10 year veteran waiter couldn't be bothered with answers.

Great service, plenty food per person but the lobster bisque could have been hotter & the steak seasoning was too salty. Fabulous dessert & coffee. First time but probably last time.
Je suis aller le samedi 22 Décembre 2018, c'était ma 4e fois cette année & une première pour ma blonde qui a pu finalement y aller (spécial Noël). La nourriture en général est vraiment de bon goût (cher pour certains produits) & le service était de très bonne qualité comme j'y était habituer. Je suggère aux gens de l'essayer au moins une fois pour aller dans un restaurant de plus haut-de-gamme. Ma note générale est de 4.25 sur 5.
on m'a souvent recommander 40 west , je suis aller avec un ami on a pris assiette filet mignon & langoustine , le filet mignon était trop sec & gouter rien & leurs langoustine était trop cuite & se défaisait en miette , très désappointé plus jamais je remet les pieds .
This restaurant is very nice & beautifully decorated, but the food & service could use some help.
Had the surf & turf , 6 oz. filet mignon with 2 scrimp, the filet was burnt on the outside, which gave it a nasty flavor even though the inside was pink.
Don't order the black cod, tasteless....really need a new recipe or new chef,I've never had worse black cod , unable to finish even half of the small portion.
The octopus entrée was very good.
Wine list is good & reasonable for this type of restaurant at three times SAQ prices. We had a simple Brusciatto at $70.
our service was slow & inattentive.
With tax & tip $287 for two.
Food / service is simply not good enough to merit this pricing.
I would not recommend it.
Loved it. Everything was amazing. The food was top quality. The ambience was electric. There is very little to be improved upon.

WOW, Totally amazing. A real west island classic. No need to waste your money on new comers , go for the sure thing & go to 40 Westt.
Our drinks on the rocks tasted watered down even upon arrival with more ice than drink. Food was mundane at best, even the baked potato & whipped butter lacked any richness in taste. The medium rib steak that we ordered was medium on the inside but blackened on the outside like charcoal, & tasteless despite being sprinkled with spice & garlic as if they were added afterwards. The other dish was accompanied by a soggy heap of cooked bland spinach when according to the menu should have been served with home fries or a choice between garlic sautéed spinach or wild rice. What a disappointment!
The service was adequate.
We were a group of 25 people for a birthday party. The service was horroble, we had arrived at 8pm & we started eating at 11pm , it took so long to get the food & the drinks. This restaurant was highly recommended but for the price we paid the service & tbe food were horrible. I would never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I find that the price is way over-rated. Too expensive. The meat is good but the rest is really average at best. There are other restaurants with better food, service & atmosphere.
