WOW! Ce restaurant est tout simplement remarquable au niveau du service, de la fraicheur de la nourriture & de l'expérience.
Tout était succulent! Des calmars marinés au truffle mac & cheese. Le filet mignon était tendre, juteux & goûteux!
L'endroit est magnifique, classe & distingué. Si vous êtes à la recherche d'un steakhouse luxueux, ou désirez vive une expérience culinaire incroyable, je vous recommande fortement ce steakhouse !
Steak (Rib Eye) was very nice visually, but extremely fatty, so I wasn't impressed. Should have taken a Filet Mignon or other. Food is extremely pricey for what you get. A steak at Madison or Baton Rouge would have been better & way cheaper.
Ahmed was the best waiter. Amazing service & really made our meal even more enjoyable than just the delicious food! Lobster, filet mignon, the best French fries ever, & soufflé / perfect meal - perfect service!
I had the rack of lamb, & it was fantastic. Unfortunately 3 people ordered filet mignon at the table & all 3 were undercooked compared to what was ordered. Don't do like we did & eat it anyway. If there's an issue with your dish they will make it right. Also, at the end of the meal the server hung around & actually tried helping us put the tip in. Not sure if they were trying to be helpful, but I feel like putting in the tip should really be left to the customer...
Got seated pretty quickly for dinner, which was a nice start. They only had one option for their fresh fish that day - we chose to have it grilled, & it turned out quite good. I was actually impressed that they managed to remove almost all the bones, with just a few ones left. The filet mignon was very well cooked; we ordered it medium rare & it came out just right.
The only downside was the lack of presentation, no plating at all, just a large plate with the protein in the center.
Overall, we enjoyed the food experience.
We reserved restaurant side, they sat us at the bar side , we asked to be moved. I had to sit on a bench that has no lining. Guess they can't afford to fix that bench.
What a joke! Ridiculously over priced food. So pretentious & the food was absolutely nothing to remember! Waste of money. I can't believe they have 4.5 stars. My filet mignon was burnt. The all dressed baked potato was so overcooked I could not eat it. My favourite the'chocolate soufflé' or shall I say molten lava cake. Does the chef know what a soufflé is supposed to look like? For starters it should not be raw inside! So disappointing

We dined here for the first time on Saturday April 5th, we made a reservation for 7 people to celebrate a birthday. First impression was how beautiful & spacious this restaurant is - it is really grand on all levels. High ceilings, tasteful & timeless decor, brick walls, open concept kitchen & even real hand towels in the bathroom, this was a nice touch.
We were seated in the bar area, Michael was our server for the night. He was very friendly & great at providing recommendations.
Our group enjoyed a 3 course meal & thoroughly loved all the foods we sampled. My main course of filet mignon was probably the most tender & delicious steak I've ever had. The garlic mashed potatoes, truffle fries & loaded baked potato were equally delicious. For those who got seafood, the flavors & cook were on point as well.
In terms of decor, service & food, 40 West checked all the right boxes. If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion or want to feel like royalty, this is the place to be. Of course, there is a price tag - I found certain items quite expensive for value. Example the burrata appetizer with 3 slices of tomatoes, this was $31. When you add on a main meal or drinks & dessert it can easily reach $300 for two people. I am not someone who is used to fine dining so this was a bit out of reach but worth it for a celebration. I would consider coming back just for a main meal as the steaks were excellent.
I'd really like to be sharing an amazing review of this restaurant as its reputation dictates, but my experience last Saturday at my friend's birthday was less than satisfactory.
Main points… very slow service & the cooking /temperature of my filet mignon was very disappointing (close to well done rather than medium rare).
It looked beige, overcooked & unappealing on a huge plate with nothing else around it.
If it wasn't 11pm, & if I wasn't starving at that time (rsvp was at 7:30), & if it wasn't a birthday dinner, it would've been sent back immediately.
Also, after speaking with my friends at the table, it seemed all the orders were screwed up- the birthday girl ordered a rare steak & got it very well done, next to me ordered medium well & got medium rare.
This is such a nice restaurant & these days everything is so expensive & it turned out to be very disappointing to have this experience. I'm not sure if I'd want to revisit this experience.
It's the best place to take an important client for a great meal. The filet mignon is always a hot! But best of all is the great service. Alexandra was amazing & made this business lunch into a memory! Thank you!
La présentation de certains plats (linguine au homard) était mieux que d'autres (filet mignon) mais c'était très bon quand même.Service impeccable, mon seul bogue (majeur) est le site internet presque entièrement en anglais.
I was referred to this restaurant by a friend. For me personnally, the restaurant has only a name but I wasn't impressed by the quality & the taste of the food. For an upscale restaurant like that to give iceberg lettuce for a salad is unacceptable. Iceberg lettuce is rank the last nutritious & tasteless among all types of lettuce so for me to have this type of salad in the menu is just ridiculous. It was for my bestie bday. I ordered the lamb racks & she ordered the filet mignon. Her filet mignon was not cooked enough ,eventhough she asked for medium. My lambs were bland they had no spices except for the sauce. The drinks were ok. I orderded a litchi martini it was boff. At the beginning of our sitting , our server was inexistent, Thank God for the manager who saved the day! Because he was really ignoring us, until the end when all his big tables were gone, thats when he started giving us attention. In conclusion, way too costly for the quality , taste & service of this restaurant. I had better service & food in lower stars restaurant. You only really pay for the name that's it. I won't be coming back.
It felt as if the staff was in a rehearsal for a theater performance. Food is good, service is good but it is way too expensive. The filet mignon looked very lonely on a huge plate.
This was to die for- a great way to end the trip in Montreal! Seafood was fresh! But the star was definitely the filet mignon - juicy & cooked to perfection! Ariana was also super friendly! Thanks for everything!
Je me suis pointée à ce restaurant seule pour célébrer mon anniversaire (oui, j'adore ça...). Mon serveur était extraordinairement attentionné. Il a pris soin de ma petite personne, m'a proposé un cocktail & un repas selon mes goûts. Première fois que je goûtais à un filet mignon sur l'os. C'était savoureux. À la fin de mon repas, j'ai demandé la carte des desserts & mon serveur m'a répondu, presque choqué de ma demande : « C'est votre anniversaire! J'ai déjà commandé quelque chose pour vous. » J'ai adoré. Trois serveurs m'ont ensuite apporté un soufflé au chocolat fondant avec crème glacée tout en me souhaitant bonne fête. J'ai adoré! & que dire de ce dessert... Sur la coche comme on dit. &, l'un des propriétaires du resto est venu me piquer une jasette pour me souhaiter bonne fête & s'enquérir de mon niveau de satisfaction. J'ai adoré aussi. En somme, ce resto est la grande classe. J'aime essayer tous les meilleurs restos en ville & celui-ci a réussi à se distinguer par la qualité hors pair de son service. À un point tel que le prix du repas - oui, c'est cher, & on s'y attend - est assez secondaire. L'expérience globale vaut amplement le prix. J'ai déjà hâte de retourner au 40 Westt!
Great service, good quality food at a reasonable price for an upscale environment. Had table d'hote filet mignon for lunch. Would go for evening as well.
This was our 30th wedding anniversary & as always, we had a wonderful time at the 40 Westt. The food & wine selection is outstanding. Our waiter Sergio was friendly, professional & answered any questions in an informed manner. The Cosmo cocktail was the best I've ever had. While my husband DEVOURED the Surf & Turf with 6 oz Prime Filet Mignon, I feasted on the Seafood Linguini... a literal mountain of succulent seafood with the most gorgeous tomato saffron bisque sauce. This restaurant has been the go-to place for all our special occasions & will continue to be so for many years to come.
Amazing! Service impeccable. A la première bouchée jusqu'à la dernière ma table etait en silence a savourer! Sans mot tellement j'ai adoré ma soirée. Tunasteak, filet mignon, plateau de mer & le dessert fondant 🤤👌
It was hopping for a Monday night,l (a year ago, late review) which I was very happy to see. We ordered some appetizers to share (salmon tartare, beef tartare, & tuna sashimi). Hubby & mum-in-law loved the tuna sashimi best. For plump oysters on half shell, wait for the season. Now is not the season. Bread basket was an eye pleaser & caraway pumpernickel bread delish. I ordered a filet mignon topped with melted brie on top of garlic mashed potatoes with a reduction of red wine sauce, absolutely sublime. The steak was perfectly seasoned & cooked perfectly medium, & cuts like butter. Our son ordered the cowboy steak, rare, & it came very rare. Its nice to see a restaurant cook the steaks exactly to customer's request. Its so easy to fail it & they passed with flying colors. Looking forward to comming back. & dress nicely, the resto is on the upscale side. Thick linen napkins & table cloth.

on m'a souvent recommander 40 west , je suis aller avec un ami on a pris assiette filet mignon & langoustine , le filet mignon était trop sec & gouter rien & leurs langoustine était trop cuite & se défaisait en miette , très désappointé plus jamais je remet les pieds .
