⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐? A Montreal Must-Try - YUBARI Sets the Bar High
I had one of the most memorable nights in Montreal at Yubari, & I can confidently say it's the kind of place that turns a simple dinner into an experience.
From the moment I walked in, the energy was exactly right-warm, stylish, & buzzing without ever feeling overwhelming. The ambiance alone would earn five stars, but the people here take it even further.
Huge kudos to Tristan behind the bar, who is honestly a master of his craft. Not only were the cocktails beautifully balanced & creative, but Tristan had this effortless way of making you feel like a VIP guest. His recommendations were spot-on, & you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. A great bartender elevates a night, & Tristan did exactly that.
& then there's Diego, the DJ, who deserves his own standing ovation. The vibe he created was unreal-perfectly curated beats that made the entire space feel alive. It wasn't overwhelming; it was magnetic. You could feel everyone leaning into the energy he built throughout the evening.
Between the exceptional service, the electric atmosphere, & the incredible talent behind both the bar & the booth, Yubari is truly in a league of its own. Whether you're visiting Montreal or you're a local looking for your next go-to spot, don't miss this place. I'm already planning my next visit.
AMAZING food. Vibes were cool. Server was really helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Came by for lunch on a whim & it was great! Happy that's there's a simple table d'hôte starting at $28, which comprises of a starter & a main. For the price, it's a great value. I went with the organic salmon taco & the nigiri & maki plate. It was so good & fresh. I love when maki rolls don't use too much rice. Service was great too. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of, was the music. For an afternoon lunch meeting, it was definitely giving super-club vibes. A titch intense, so maybe adjust the playlist for daytime.
Loved the atmosphere! Would be a great vibe for date night/girl's night/team night out!
The exotic Bluefin Tuna Tartare was exceptional with the Lotus crisps. The fatty texture was dominant & the fish was honored.
The asian glazed, seaweed coated Ribs were well worth the cost & very filling.
The black sesame seeds ice-cream wasnt sweet, just like I had hoped & a wonderful finish to the meal.
Well-worth the price tag. Very satisfied customer.
We heard of this restaurant theough social media & as big sushi lovers, we came in to try it out. We were not disappointed- the atmosphere, overall vibe & service was outstanding. The staff are extremely friendly & attentive. The food was the absolute best- you can tell they pride themselves on the highest quality food & experience. If you love sushi, this is a must try!
food tight service tight atmosphere tight taryn(tara?) excellent vibes
It's not easy to find a spot that nails both food & drinks but this place absolutely delivers. Everything on the menu sounded incredible but the hot makis were next level. & don't even get me started on the edamame coated in truffle with a creamy mayo sauce I seriously never want to eat edamame any other way again. The spicy gyoza was a 10 out of 10 & every dish just hit.
The dessert was bomb like truly the perfect way to wrap up an already amazing meal.
Beyond the incredible food & drinks the service truly stood out. Sarah was fantastic. She gave thoughtful recommendations had the best energy & made the entire experience even better. The vibe of the place is effortlessly chic & relaxed & honestly I just wish I lived closer because I'd be back all the time.
Sarah was a 10 out of 10 the vibes were immaculate thank you for making the night a whole experience.
Only had drinks here but a great hip vibe with a DJ spinning some awesome house. Shazam was running overtime.
Definate repeat.
I recently spent the weekend in Montreal with the girls for a little getaway. On our first night, we had dinner at Yubari, a sleek Japanese restaurant known for its fresh, authentic sushi. The vibes were immaculate-chic yet cozy, perfect for everything from a casual night out to a celebratory dinner. Our waitress was a gem-super sweet, attentive, & incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, which made our experience even better.
We ordered their edamame, salmon tacos, crispy rice, sashimi platter (12pcs) & their Yubari signature rolls.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, & the presentation of each dish was stunning-almost too pretty to eat. The edamame was coated in truffle, giving it a rich, earthy twist that elevated it far beyond the usual appetizer. It practically melted in my mouth. The sashimi & Yubari signature rolls were incredibly fresh, each bite packed with clean, balanced flavors. But the standout for me was the crispy rice-topped with Bluefin tuna tartare, a touch of mujjol caviar, lemon zest, & a drizzle of unagi sauce. The contrast of textures & flavors made every bite burst with richness, brightness, & just the right hint of sweetness.
After a year since its big, lavish opening party, we were excited to finally check it out for ourselves. However, what we found left us a bit confused.
We started with a couple of sushi rolls, which were decent but didn't justify their high price tag. The octopus was well-cooked, with admittedly creative flavors, yet it still fell a little flat.
The standout item for us was the mini wagyu burger, which had a taste & quality that surpassed everything else we sampled. We joked that they should consider opening a burger joint (seriously, do it; I'd come to that).
They also offer a variety of additional items like dumplings, fried rice, & various entrées & meats.
The lively atmosphere, complete with a DJ & leopard-print banquettes, gave off a vibe more suited for a nightlife spot than a restaurant focused on quality cuisine.
The decor featured some nice Japanese-inspired touches, like a bonsai tree, but the combination of higher-class restaurant pricing, an underwhelming & scattered menu, & a nightlife vibe made the whole thing feel misaligned. Even their website emphasizes a visual experience over taste, & unfortunately, that was reflected in our visit. It seems they are more focused on the experience than delivering exceptional food, which is a critical miss for a restaurant of this caliber in that area.
While we still enjoyed our time on some level, & the service was very quick & friendly, we feel they need to find a clearer direction in both their offerings & priorities.
Was my second time at Yubari. Food was excellent. The service from Jessika was exceptional & the vibe was incredible. Will definitely be back.
