After a year since its big, lavish opening party, we were excited to finally check it out for ourselves. However, what we found left us a bit confused.
We started with a couple of sushi rolls, which were decent but didn't justify their high price tag. The octopus was well-cooked, with admittedly creative flavors, yet it still fell a little flat.
The standout item for us was the mini wagyu burger, which had a taste & quality that surpassed everything else we sampled. We joked that they should consider opening a burger joint (seriously, do it; I'd come to that).
They also offer a variety of additional items like dumplings, fried rice, & various entrées & meats.
The lively atmosphere, complete with a DJ & leopard-print banquettes, gave off a vibe more suited for a nightlife spot than a restaurant focused on quality cuisine.
The decor featured some nice Japanese-inspired touches, like a bonsai tree, but the combination of higher-class restaurant pricing, an underwhelming & scattered menu, & a nightlife vibe made the whole thing feel misaligned. Even their website emphasizes a visual experience over taste, & unfortunately, that was reflected in our visit. It seems they are more focused on the experience than delivering exceptional food, which is a critical miss for a restaurant of this caliber in that area.
While we still enjoyed our time on some level, & the service was very quick & friendly, we feel they need to find a clearer direction in both their offerings & priorities.

Bel endroit, nourriture excellente & service impeccable. L'emplacement du restaurant est un peu plate, mais l'ambiance à l'intérieur vous le fait oublier. Le restaurant est très beau. J'aurais aimé y être de soir quand le restaurant est plein pour vivre la pleine expérience, mais à cause d'un spectacle nous avons dû y aller à 17h30. Le resto était vide à cette heure donc l'ambiance n'était pas au rendez-vous, à essayer plus tard en soirée! Les employés étaient serviables, sympathiques & très efficaces, voir même trop pour nous qui avions mentionné vouloir prendre notre temps & ne pas tout recevoir en même temps. Nos plats nous ont été servis en deux services distincts. En moins d'une heure s'en était fini. Nous aurions aimé un service moins expéditif, mais étant donné l'heure & le restaurant vide, je comprends que les commandes sortaient vite. Donc je recommande si vous êtes pressés! Tout était très bon. Salade de mangue/papaye super rafraichissante, dumplings gyoza très bon, bao bun gourmand, makis excellents & créatifs & le riz croustillant était un délice. Je ne suis pas prêt à dire que ça vaut le prix car ça reste tout de même très cher comme endroit (une moyenne de 38$ pour 8 makis de format hosomaki, j'ai rarement vu ça), mais je recommande de l'essayer au moins une fois. En résumé, c'est à essayer, vous ne serez certainement pas déçu, mais vous retournerez probablement à votre endroit préféré de sushis un peu moins cher la prochaine fois.
Went on a date, I reserved a quiet table for 2 at 8 After being seated the server noticed we were not happy with our table so she happily decided to move us. Sarah was absolutely fantastic, being the only server for the entire restaurant which was busy enough for easily 2, she was on point. Great service, great energy & personality, very professional & awesome. I am definitely coming back especially for her & the bus girl that was working as well, I'm upset her name slipped my mind. Cute, bubly & super nice. Cocktail(Slipper)was great, although they did not have the sake I wanted in stock Sarah suggested the next best thing even though it wasn't in the same palate. Sushi was great although I was not really impressed with the nigiri & the Usuzukuri salmon. The Kanbina & the tuna futomaki was top notch. Vibe was great, hard to find a place that has all 3 aspects: good service, good food & music & not to mention great design by my friend Italo(Anonymus Concepts)

I don't normally leave reviews, but this place was fantastic. Ambiance was great, the staff was super friendly, & the sushi was absolutely delicious. The quality of the ingredients blew me away. The sushi chefs are on a other level, wow!

We ordered salmon tacos & egg noddles pasta with lobster it was amazing. Also the sushi we had were very fresh & very authentic in taste. Loved the experience overall.

My wife & I spent 4 days visiting Montreal for the holidays, & this was out favorite restaurant. YUBARI (found inside a hotel) is a Japanese restaurant with a wonderful wood-slat decor, dim ambiance, & beautiful bar. The seats were comfortable, the music was unintrusive, & the hosts collected our Jackets which was really nice on a cold/snowy day. We ordered the wagyu mini burger, two sushi rolls, fried rice, & two desserts. The true star was the sushi as the Maori Tai & Yubari signature were both outstanding. The flavors, textures, & even the foods temperature were all perfect. Regarding service, our server was very friendly & gave great recommendations. He had his hands full with some larger tables but still made sure to check in. The food times were a bit long, but nothing crazy. Our favorite person there was absolutely Anita. She probably poured us a gallon of water, & had fun doing it! what a vibrant & lovely person. We really enjoyed chatting with her & she really changed our experience from a fabulous meal to a fantastic outing. overall, if your in this part of Montreal, id say this is a no brainer! Stop by for some great food, quiet luxurious atmosphere, attentive service, & a good time. Be warned however, it is not cheap! If you come hungry its easy to spend 100+$ a person, so if budget is a problem, save it for a special Occassion it'll be worth the wait.
I've been to Yubari twice, & both visits were fantastic. The service is consistently great, the sushi is incredibly fresh, & the ambiance is spot on. The decor adds to the vibrant atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a night out. Highly recommend!
Nous sommes allés hier (mercredi 4 décembre 2024) & l'expérience a juste été incroyable ! Des explosions de saveurs dans notre bouche, juste insane ! L'ambiance, le service était bons, l'endroit vraiment beau! Mais la nourriture, juste wow !!! Nous avons pris: Edamames à la truffe (vraiment trop bon!) & vapeur. Poulet Yakitori & mini burger Wagyu. Ce fut de très belles découvertes pour tout le monde à table! Mes amis ont pris des Sashimi, des Nigiri & autres sushis, la présentation était vraiment belle! Les bouchées étaient vraiment bonnes! Nous avons tous pris un Sashimi Wagyu, c'était INSANE dans la bouche ! Personnellement, le riz frit au canard braisé m'attirait énormément & je n'ai pas été déçue ! Je vous recommende d'essayer au moins une fois, c'était vraiment très bon! J'y retournerai certainement :D
Feutré comme ambiance, service à la hauteur d'un restaurant de ce type. Serveur attentionné, qui connaissait ses spécialités, une expérience sushi 5 étoiles.

Stunning venue. The service was excellent! The food was good (keep in mind it is on the pricer side). Our highlight was one of the sushi dishes - so fresh & practically melted in your mouth.

Great impeccable service from Brian, great aura, the confidence, very personable, & Donnahue "Donna" thank you, it shows she cares about her job, embodying what Yubari is, high-class & exclusivity... A great smile too! The meticulously curated menu showcases an exquisite array of traditional & innovative dishes, each a testament to the artistry of Japanese cuisine. I say "Bravo!" to the chefs, kisses to the chefs, they are exemplifying their dedication to serve excellence of each bites. Let's be honest, is it overpriced? Absolutely highway robbery, but it's not their fault, it's only yours! Even if you just want to get ripped off & impress your date (you better hope the night ends just how you are imagining it for the price you're going to pay) eating the same California roll just as the same as Joe Blow down the street, be my guest. Having said that, be a pro, accept your losses, shake your head in disbelief & take another sip of your cocktail, it'll make the seduction process less repugnant. Listen, the dish arrives at the table, you will be in awe, the presentation is nothing short of artistic, transforming each dish into a visual masterpiece, see photos... Right?! Not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes. Yubari is a sanctuary for sushi aficionados & novices alike, promising an unparalleled gastronomic journey that is as intellectually stimulating as it is delightfully indulgent. I honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a sophisticated MASTERPIECE EXPERIENCE in a truly private & intimate setting. Yubari is not for the fainted heart, if you're Dave Chappelle in "Half baked" this is not the joint for you!
J'ai récemment célébré l'anniversaire de ma fille au restaurant Yubari à Montréal, attiré par les excellents commentaires sur la qualité de leurs sushis. Effectivement, les ingrédients étaient frais & le goût exceptionnel. Cependant, malgré le prix élevé, j'ai été déçu par le manque d'empatie du personnel. J'avais mentionné au serveur que c'était l'anniversaire de ma fille, mais personne n'a pris la peine de nous offrir un petit geste, comme un dessert gratuit ou un simple « Joyeux anniversaire ». Cela m'a laissé une impression de froideur & de manque de considération pour les clients. Malheureusement, cette expérience m'a fait changer d'avis sur ce restaurant. Bien que j'aie recommandé Yubari à mes clients dans le passé en raison de sa qualité culinaire, je ne pourrai plus le faire avec conviction en raison de ce manque d'empatie.
