About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

I really enjoyed the food. The karaage was amazing. Spicy miso ramen was really good. The service wasn't that great. It took over 30 minutes, after being seated, for the server to return, & this was before the rush. It took quite a long time for the food to come. We were there for over 2 hours & had 2 appetizers & 2 ramen. So if you go, make sure you're not pressed for time. There's no doormat, so the floors beneath the tables were very wet & dirty. With a couple tweaks this place could be really great: more front of house staff (host) / better trained staff, staggered resos / orders, door mat.

Best vegan ramen in Montreal... however the poor service & very unpleasant atmosphere kind of takes away from the actual food experience. If you don't want to be rushed to eat while waiting 30+mins for your food to actually come, id recommend ordering take out. You'll avoid having to watch your waiter eat on the side whilst starving at your table 🙃. . Again, good food but best to just take out...that service doesn't even deserve the minimum tip. Ps: this happened on multiple occasions, not just this once.

De grandes attentes & une grosse déception. Si vous cherchez de vrais ramen passez votre chemin. Nous avions réservé pour 21h & nous avons attendu 35 min avant d'être placés. Personne n'est venu nous voir, l'équipe est en rush durant tout le service & aucune attention particulière n'est portée aux clients. Aucune excuses. Une fois à table les plats manquaient de goût ou alors trop salés. Le pseudo tofu est immangeable. Personne n'est venu nous servir à boire. Au moment de payer, pas d'autre choix que 10% ou 18% pour les tips. Ça a donc été un 10 pour nous. Nous ne reviendrons pas.

Nous avons mangé en entrée la salade de chrysanthèmes qui était exquise. En plat principal, nous avons choisi chacun une ramen différente, les deux étaient - à notre goût - beaucoup trop salées. Nous avons adoré la déco, le service, la présentation, le fait que tout soit vegan ! Si nous y retournons, nous essaierons autre chose en plat principal.

Un endroit très agréable, ambiance tamisée, parfaite pour une soirée en amoureux. Le repas était très bon, on a pu découvrir de nouvelles saveurs grace aux tapas proposés & finir par un ramen copieux. La gentille serveuse nous a même offert un beignet à la fin. Merci !

Merci au propriétaire du resto pour le menu spécial qu'il a personnellement préparé pour mon souper de fête, car j'étais seul. Cela a été très apprécié. & en plus c'était très varié & très bon. Je le recommande à tous. & merci à la serveuse qui a bien compris mon besoin & m'a suggéré d'autres resto végan.
