About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

The vegan ramen was filling & amazing. the staff & service were good too. The waitress at the end gave us a homemade donut at the end on the house & it was so delicious. I'm definitely going back to get it.

A trendy & charming vegan restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. I really wanted to like this place. The entrees were delicious but I wish I could say the same for the ramen. It looked so appetizing but it was very salty & lacked depth. Unfortunately the service left something to be desired as well. It took long to give our order & to receive it. Our waitress would disappear, I suppose because it was busy, but then passes by without making eye contact. It took so long to catch her for another cocktail I ended up just skipping it. The overall experience fell short of expectations.

Absolutely incredible vegan ramen spot. The restaurant is intimate & cozy & everything tastes absolutely delicious. The staff is very professional & attentive. You must absolutely try their "Steak & egg" appetizer as well as the Karaage. The ramens are also super flavourful, & the "egg" made from emulsified tomato is genius! Definitely will be back.

Confess that i didn't know it wasn't vegan until the server told us lol. Besides being a strong carnivore, if i didn't know that it was vegan, i would've thought that it was a regular pork on my shoyu ramen. Incredible! Service was PERFECT! Server knows literally everything about the menu. Cocktails & mocktails were delicious & the brownie dessert with the ice cream WAS PERFECT. It really changed my view towards vegan food. Very good experience!

Nous avons passé une excellente soirée à savourer le menu dégustation. 5 services originaux, fins & vegans. J'ai apprécié le brownie au miso ! J'y retournerai pour ses ramens qui ont l'air succulents.

J'aimerais mettre 10 étoiles pour le service. Merci encore vous êtes vraiment géniaux !! Je mange jamais vegan, mais j'ai été impressionné surtout par le jaune d'oeuf. Incroyable !! Merci pour le Sake Bomb :P J'ai passé une belle soirée & je tiens à remercié les deux serveurs, c'est grâce à eux ! Je recommande fortement la place, bonne ambiance, le personnel est très accueillant & SYMPA !

Such a lovely experience. Our reservation was right at the opening hour so we got a great spot, & the waitress was so kind & also very quick despite working the entire dining area by herself! The food was amazing, & kept that class & elegance feeling alongside all the vegan dishes. Reservation date: sep 8, 2024 5PM

Lovely izakaya for ramen lovers. We were able to be seated even without reservation, although the venue was quite busy in a Monday evening. Tantanmen ramen is really great, a decent level of spice & a peculiar touch with a vegan "egg". I would like to go back & try the cocktails, we were seated at the bar & watching the bartender prep you could tell that they really care about mixology. Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy & a bit understaffed (just 2 servers for the floor of ~10 tables).

The ramen dishes are incredible! They came up with a "vegan egg" that looked so real I had to double check that it was in fact vegan haha. Really spicy & a lot of complex flavour profiles I enjoyed. Very highly recommend this place.

Cela fait longtemps que je n'y suis pas aller, dû à leur emplacement assez éloignées, mais je conseille vraiment au moins d'y aller une fois, surtout lorsque vous êtes vegan, meilleur ramen que je n'ai jamais mangé! L'ambiance eat génial,les employés vraiment super aussi! Sinon goûter la crème glacé au matcha un régale!

You know a vegan restaurant is good when it can impress a carnivore. I visited Umami with a vegetarian friend. We opted for the tasting menu, & it was WOW from start to finish. The presentation, the creativity, the flavours, all of it! Every course was distinct & delicious. There was not a single item that we wouldn't want to eat again. My friend & I kept joking that if we weren't in a restaurant, we would have licked our plates. Umami Chef:Keep up the good work, & keep that tasting menu going! Person reading reviews: JUST GO. You're gonna love it!

The best vegan restaurant in montreal offering savoury dishes & always a great experience. I recommend the kimchi ramen & the donut but everything on the menu is exceptional. If I could give more stars I would! The team is great too.

Nice vegan place, the atmosphere was nice, a lot of room to enjoy conversations between friends & family. They were able to seat us even without reservation. The dishes were filling.
