We had an excellent experience at Sushi Hidden Fish, & a big part of that was thanks to Rey.
From the moment we arrived, Rey made us feel genuinely welcome. His hospitality was top-tier-attentive without being overbearing-& his knowledge of the menu really stood out. He took the time to understand our preferences & guided us toward some of the best sushi recommendations, all of which were exceptional.
It's clear that Rey truly cares about the guest experience. Professional, friendly, & thoughtful throughout the entire visit.
Highly recommend Sushi Hidden Fish, & if you're there, you'll be in great hands with Rey.
Very nice atmosphere, service on point, freshest fish, beautiful maki & the Wagu was to die for. Will definitely go back soon.
Amazing experience, very unique sushi flavors. Everything tasted so fresh. Highly recommend the Unagi Maki
A Masterclass in Culinary Orchestration & Hospitality
Visiting from out of town, my son & I were searching for a definitive sushi experience in Montreal. From the moment we stepped into Hidden Fish, we were met with a level of hospitality that was as immediate as it was genuine. Despite not having a reservation, we were welcomed without hesitation & seated at the sushi bar, the best seats in the house to witness Executive Chef Haruo & his team operate like a finely tuned orchestra.
While the entire staff was exceptional, our primary server, Matthew, was instrumental in making the evening perfect. He ensured every detail was attended to with grace, striking the ideal balance between professional attentiveness & warm engagement. Under his care, the service flowed seamlessly, allowing us to focus entirely on the culinary artistry.
The precision of the kitchen is matched only by the complexity of the flavors. Several'movements' in this performance were particularly standout:
Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi: A delicate balance of textures where the Miyoga & Ikura provided a sophisticated brightness against the Tosazu dressing.
Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Tataki: Truly exceptional. The roasted garlic & garlic-ginger BBQ sauce enhanced the richness of the A5 beef without overshadowing its quality.
Chutoro Nigiri: A masterstroke of simplicity & melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Salmon Gravlax Maki: A highlight of creative engineering with salmon marinated with beetroot. The combination of Kizami Wasabi, fried onion, & Akazu vinegar rice created a complex, multi-layered sensory experience.
Chef Haruo & his masterful team, anchored by Matthew's outstanding service, have created a venue where technical excellence meets heartfelt hospitality. This wasn't just a meal; it was a sensory experience that outshone any sushi encounter we've had before. We will be returning to Montreal specifically to sit at this bar again.
My new favourite in Mtl! Been ordering a few times now as sushi is of great quality & combines nice flavours.
This place is the real deal for high end sushi. Don't expect to get away cheap here, but you will be amazed at the quality & experience. From wagyu to aged sushi, trust your server. They will guide you on an experience.
The ambiance is great casual fine dining laid back. We had a party of 7 & it was approximately $150 CAD per person.
Amazing food. The pictures show why. The sushi chef is awesome.
Phenomenal! The quality is amazing & the blend of flavours is just perfect. 5 stars for sure.
Initially everything was fine but once the waiter came to our table, we felt pushed/ rushed. We knew exactly what we wanted to order but the waiter kept mentioning that it was not enough according to him (opinion we didn't ask for). He kept on coming by every 4min to keep pouring the wine which was not needed since it was not cold from the beginning (felt super rushed). At one point we spoke English to him but he kept answering in French when we could clearly hear him speak English with another table. Once we asked for the bill, they were hovering over us with their machines to take payment, not even giving us a chance to look at it or just take a few minutes to finish our glasses without rushing. At some point during the dinner once we were done with food, another person came to the table & cleared absolutely everything without even asking us if we were done, we didn't even realize our glasses were gone. Will not be coming back.
Not the best experience that left a negative impression of the place we were looking forward to trying.
Hosted our daughter's 21st birthday in the private room & everything was incredible. The food was spectacular & the service was top notch!
delicious sushi, fast service, loved it
everything felt fresh.
we got pandan cheesecake & 4 sets of makis, all were exquisite
Beautiful atmosphere, attentive service, & incredibly tasty dishes - highly recommended!
Première expérience & je reviendrais certainement. Ce bar a sushi est un vrai hidden gem de Montréal. Ma soeur & moi avons beaucoup aimé notre soirée.
Visited around a year ago. The food of course is very tasty, one of the best places I visited, but I didn't like any of the cocktails. Also, the interior not the top & the tables close to the bar were not comfortable to sit at, as there's were people constantly walking back & fortg
