Good crisp on the outside, soft & tender on the inside. Not as much dough or chew as a NY bagel. I like how they're made fresh but it is not something I will necessarily come back for.
Totally worth the hype! We had heard that its a Montreal icon & now we know wy. When we reached, there was a big lineup. For a.moment we thought it not worth it as we estimated it.could take up to an hour. But we decided to stay in the line. The line moved surprisingly quickly, thanks to excellent management & speed of service.
As for taste & concept, this was simply unique. The bagels were fresh made right in front of your eyes, the selection was great, & the service was nice & courteous despite the rush.
Must visit for any trip to Montreal.
It's an alright elegantly prepared bagel sandwich but not worth the price.
I would say to just go to the original location & buy the ingredients there separately for a salmon bagel. I came on an early morning so there was no one & it was relaxing. However the location is basically just an ordinary sandwich dine in restaurant.
With the original it has a much fresher warmer bagel that is chewier & softer, & you get a unique & diy experience. Also going here you are paying way too much.
The bagels were fairly average & not very fresh, making them a bit tough & overly chewy. The prices felt slightly high for the quality, though that's somewhat expected for a tourist spot.
I only shop online & ship to Ontario. Excellent communication & delivery. Bagels are scrumptious & fresh Twice I have had to email for an order adjustments & they were accommodating ++. Thank you!!
🤩 The bagels were really delicious, fresh, & full of flavor. You can really tell the quality, & everything we tried tasted great.
🥰 The atmosphere was also nice & cozy, making it a pleasant place to sit & enjoy the food.
🥺 The only downside for me was the service. The staff seemed a bit rushed & not very welcoming, (which was noticeable,) although it didn't ruin the experience.
Nice Montreal style freshly baked in house bagel in a truly authentic neighbourhood. We packed couple of bagels for a stroll around neighbourhood & good coffee. Queue was fast, some condiments are available too.
A beloved Montreal institution! St-Viateur is home to perhaps Montreal's most famous culinary creation, the Montreal-style bagel. You'll definitely encounter a line, but it moves quickly, & the ordering process is smooth. It's fun to see the boisterous bagel production factory right in front of you as the shop is constantly pumping out hot, wood-fired bagels. I got the Traditional on their most popular flavor, the sesame. The bagel itself was fresh out of the oven & so crunchy. The inside was soft & fluffy with a bit of sweetness from the honey water these bagels are boiled in. The salmon, cream cheese, & veggies all tasted fresh as well. I assure you if you're a bagel lover, you will crave St-Viateur long after your trip to Montreal!
I always come here when I visit Montreal. Unfortunately this place has turned into a money grabbing, greedy establishment. I went to pick up 5 dozen bagels. The best part about this place is taking a bite from a hot soft bagels upon purchase. You can imagine 60 bagels are quite heavy to carry. So I sat down at a table in order to quickly bite into one, so that I could put down my 5 dozen bagels. The usual manager walks up to me & asked if I purchased a sandwich, & that only people who have purchased a sandwich are allowed to sit down. I looked around & there were 4 other free vacant tables, NO LINE UPS because it was afternoon 4pm. I had 1 small bagel in my hand that I was half way finished already. He was so money greedy forcing me to buy a damn sandwich (higher priced than a bagel) that he doesn't realize that I'm already carrying $80 worth of bagels in my bag & am simply trying to take a few minutes to enjoy one.
Overall, service is subpar compared to other locations. The one near the airport (DDO location) serving fresh hot soft piping bagels & they will help you bag into plastic bags too. When I asked for that at this location, they said they'll give me the plastic bags & I can do it myself.
I'm here to settle the long-standing debate: Fairmount Bagel vs. St-Viateur Bagel.
As someone who especially enjoys bagels as sandwiches, St-Viateur takes the win for me. The bagels are fresh, flavorful, & have the perfect texture-slightly crisp on the outside while still soft & chewy inside.
The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast, & the portions are surprisingly filling, making it a great spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
We tried both the Traditional & Le Steak, served on their all-dressed bagel, & both were absolutely delicious. The combination of the fresh bagel with the sandwich fillings worked perfectly & really showcased why this place is so popular.
This is definitely a spot I'll come back to every time I visit Montreal.
Recommended items: Traditional, Le Steak (on all-dressed bagel)
A must-visit for anyone looking to experience Montreal's iconic bagels. This small, stylish shop is well worth the trip-we enjoyed it so much we went out of our way to visit twice during our stay.
The bagels are excellent across the board, but the standout was the toasted rosemary & sea salt with butter-simple & incredibly flavourful. We also tried plain, sesame, & cinnamon raisin, & picked up extras to go. Even dining in felt thoughtful, with small touches like fresh fruit on the side.
Expect a lineup, especially before lunchtime, which speaks to its popularity. There's a separate, faster line if you're just grabbing bagels to go. Street parking can be limited, so plan accordingly.
Located on Mont-Royal Avenue, Montreal, this spot is walking distance from Ojeux-a nice bonus toy shop stop with Jellycats if you're exploring the area.
Overall, a classic Montreal experience-fresh, flavourful, wonderful staff & absolutely worth going out of your way to experience.
Their iced coffee with caramel syrup is delightfully tasty. Bagels are fresh. The service was efficient & accommodating.
Very Delicious bagel. Not hard, moderate chewy & very fresh. I visit the store in the morning, long line, but staff were very efficient & were very kind. I highly recommend to visit & I would visit again if I have a chance.
Absolutely loved my experience here! The bagels are what breakfast dreams are made of - fresh, soft bread that's clearly made with care. But what really elevated it was the cheese spread - it perfectly complemented the bagel's flavor without overpowering it. You can tell they pay attention to quality ingredients & flavor balance. This is definitely my new go-to spot for bagels. Highly recommend giving them a try!
Some of the fresh & traditional bagels 🥯 . Always fresh & i always take few bags to Toronto
Skip the line, grab one (or six) hot fresh bagels from the takeaway counter, a couple small pots of chive cream cheese- rip n dip, baby!!
No gluten free options. Only take Cad debit card, cash (USD or Cad). Bagels are freshly made, lots of varieties
Best bagels in town, must try. 🤌 Super soft & bit sweet, & freshly made! Loved the all dressed bagel.
The best bagel spot in town, I always get a freshly made sesame bagel to go! They don't take credit card so cash or debit!
