cash(69) fresh(59) cheese(58) sandwiches(53) sandwich(51) recommend(45) traditional(41) sesame(39) cafe(31) debit(30) to go(28) salmon(27)Some of the best bagels I have ever had. It was pretty busy for a Monday morning, but we had plenty of room & it was very relaxed.
Good quality food , nice service, a bit pricey but worth it,
Try their WOW sandwich ,you would never regret it !
the spicy everything bagel is the best bagel i've tried in my life. Got'le joe' for the first time & OMG!
This location allows you to put toppings on your bagel. I ordered the le Joe ( ricotta & fig jam) on a sesame bagel. It's a steep price at $12ish dollars but it's delicious. Comes with two slices of cantaloupe.
Process ( entrance, ordering, souvenirs, bathroom)
* When you enter a person will greet you in French but most employees are bilingual (English & French)They will direct you to a table that contains the menu after looking over the menu you just go to the left of the table to order & pay. If you dine in they'll bring your food to you.
The bathroom is downstairs, full flight of stairs & there's a couple bathrooms (singular bathrooms)
When you enter the restaurant they also have merchandise displayed on the right.
It can get loud & busy but it's flows smoothly & quickly.
🤩 The bagels were really delicious, fresh, & full of flavor. You can really tell the quality, & everything we tried tasted great.
🥰 The atmosphere was also nice & cozy, making it a pleasant place to sit & enjoy the food.
🥺 The only downside for me was the service. The staff seemed a bit rushed & not very welcoming, (which was noticeable,) although it didn't ruin the experience.
Visiting from Alberta, had to stop by & try a Montreal Bagel... the traditional was amazing on a sesame bun, cant just come for 1 bagel so had a second bagel the Turkey Club & it was amazing aswell...
Highly recommend visiting if you are in town.
I dont know how everyone saying this is the best bagels in montreal.I can tell you is not & i just think after trying all the top bagel spots in canada, bagels aren't a Canadian thing. The bagel for is small, tastes super mid & the cream cheese just tastes like regular philadelphia cream cheese. The second thing is i dont know if the chubby guy with glasses at the cashier is fhe manager/owner,he seem like to me because he was at the back bossing everyone around but dam he has such a bad attitude.we bought two bagel sandwiches,a pack of 6 bagels & the store merch. We are asking for a bag because i mean my god is so much things we have to hold,do i have to ask for a bag.He screwed his face up to give us one.We visited saturday 11th april,2026 at around 10am.
So please save yourself & go to New york city if you want a good bagel! Or in toronto there is whatabagel,it's ok but far far better than this place.
Everyone has a favorite bagel place in MTL but this one is actually the best in case you needed to know.
I'm usually not a sweet bagel person but the La'Joe Bagel' was the best l've had.
A must try in Montreal!
Native New Yorker. Tried their sesame bagel. Best bagel ever. Okay, it was really good for our first taste of a Canadian style bagel. Did not have time to try the competitor, but will do that next time. The service here was fantastic, super friendly & patient. Note that they only take cash.
Nice Montreal style freshly baked in house bagel in a truly authentic neighbourhood. We packed couple of bagels for a stroll around neighbourhood & good coffee. Queue was fast, some condiments are available too.
A beloved Montreal institution! St-Viateur is home to perhaps Montreal's most famous culinary creation, the Montreal-style bagel. You'll definitely encounter a line, but it moves quickly, & the ordering process is smooth. It's fun to see the boisterous bagel production factory right in front of you as the shop is constantly pumping out hot, wood-fired bagels. I got the Traditional on their most popular flavor, the sesame. The bagel itself was fresh out of the oven & so crunchy. The inside was soft & fluffy with a bit of sweetness from the honey water these bagels are boiled in. The salmon, cream cheese, & veggies all tasted fresh as well. I assure you if you're a bagel lover, you will crave St-Viateur long after your trip to Montreal!
Neste endereço fazem os sanduíches prontos e também vendem os baguels. Qualquer um que pedir é bom!
Loved everything about this place, very helpful staff despite how busy it can get.
I always come here when I visit Montreal. Unfortunately this place has turned into a money grabbing, greedy establishment. I went to pick up 5 dozen bagels. The best part about this place is taking a bite from a hot soft bagels upon purchase. You can imagine 60 bagels are quite heavy to carry. So I sat down at a table in order to quickly bite into one, so that I could put down my 5 dozen bagels. The usual manager walks up to me & asked if I purchased a sandwich, & that only people who have purchased a sandwich are allowed to sit down. I looked around & there were 4 other free vacant tables, NO LINE UPS because it was afternoon 4pm. I had 1 small bagel in my hand that I was half way finished already. He was so money greedy forcing me to buy a damn sandwich (higher priced than a bagel) that he doesn't realize that I'm already carrying $80 worth of bagels in my bag & am simply trying to take a few minutes to enjoy one.
Overall, service is subpar compared to other locations. The one near the airport (DDO location) serving fresh hot soft piping bagels & they will help you bag into plastic bags too. When I asked for that at this location, they said they'll give me the plastic bags & I can do it myself.
Nice place to try the delicious bagels, great service. For tourists only cash or Canadian debit cards! ATM right in the corne
Very disappointed. The bagel was very dry. We took 3 differents kinds all same . It supposed to be a branch from the authentic most famous bagel in Montreal, but really far away. The filling was poor & testless. I was really expecting better than this.
I had a mixed experience here.
The person who greeted us was exceptionally kind, whereas the person taking my order was the total opposite. She wanted me to go pay at another counter before I even uttered a word, & then she repeatedly mistook what I was asking for, despite the fact that it was a very simple order & I made it as clear as possible.
Anyways, now onto the food. The sesame bagels are always incredible here. In contrast, the poppy seed bagels were cold, chewy, & had almost no seeds on them.
Maybe it's just a location issue. If you ask me, I'd rather spend my money at the original spot.
