Afficher toutcash(72) fresh(61) cheese(60) sandwich(59) sandwiches(55) recommend(45) traditional(43) sesame(40) cafe(32) debit(31) to go(29) salmon(28)As a vegetarian, I was disappointed with the experience. The restaurant wasn't great value for money, & there were very limited vegetarian options available. We were told that all sandwiches could be made vegetarian, but they didn't deliver on that promise. A few ingredients were missing from all of our sandwiches, & we even had to send one back because the order was completely wrong. While a couple of staff members were friendly & welcoming, the overall experience was underwhelming. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place for vegetarians.
This place made me understand what a good bagel was.
I've never been too fond of bagels, & have trued multiple spots in Toronto to repeated disappointment. While in Montreal & following all the local guides online, it said St.Viateur was a must-try bagel & for once, I'll agree.
This Mont-Royal location had a simple system for ordering & had great customer service for english speakers. They're patient with ordering & helping you decide between our bagels.
The quality of bagels is simply exceptional. Soft interior, great crust, & the bagel sandwiches you can order here are great as well.
Come order a sandwich, get some bagels to go & even freeze them at home if you want to preserve them.
If you're looking to try a Montreal bagel, just go to this St.Viateur location & you'll not regret it.
Best bagels in town! Keep in mind it's cash or debit card only. It's a little pricy for sitting down & getting a sandwich but it's delicious. If you're from out of town, it's an amazing spot to try out MTL bagels!
Cool spot to get traditional Montreal bagels.
Although bagels aren't my thing I enjoyed my traditional sandwich.
Great servers
Lives up to the title: World famous Montreal bagel!😋 This is a must visit spot for bagel sandwiches when visiting Montreal. The smoked meat bagel was my favorite!
It's an alright elegantly prepared bagel sandwich but not worth the price.
I would say to just go to the original location & buy the ingredients there separately for a salmon bagel. I came on an early morning so there was no one & it was relaxing. However the location is basically just an ordinary sandwich dine in restaurant.
With the original it has a much fresher warmer bagel that is chewier & softer, & you get a unique & diy experience. Also going here you are paying way too much.
Seasame bagel & classic sandwich with vegan cream cheese are amazing!
Accueil & service déplorable. Aucune organisation !
Simply the best bagels. It's not even close.
If you're staying anywhere in Montreal just find a way to get to one of their locations. If you have anything more than a 2 hour layover in Montreal, run, get there, don't be the guy who didn't make it. It's worth it.
If you show up in the spring look for their maple apple flavor, I've only ever been there in the spring so I don't know if it's available any other time, but they are incredible.
& finally don't skimp while you're there thinking you only need bagels. Get the sandwich, I don't care what kind, it's going to change how you think about bagels in general.
Next thing you know you'll be making trips to Montreal just for the damned bagels.
Good quality food , nice service, a bit pricey but worth it,
Try their WOW sandwich ,you would never regret it !
I dont know how everyone saying this is the best bagels in montreal.I can tell you is not & i just think after trying all the top bagel spots in canada, bagels aren't a Canadian thing. The bagel for is small, tastes super mid & the cream cheese just tastes like regular philadelphia cream cheese. The second thing is i dont know if the chubby guy with glasses at the cashier is fhe manager/owner,he seem like to me because he was at the back bossing everyone around but dam he has such a bad attitude.we bought two bagel sandwiches,a pack of 6 bagels & the store merch. We are asking for a bag because i mean my god is so much things we have to hold,do i have to ask for a bag.He screwed his face up to give us one.We visited saturday 11th april,2026 at around 10am.
So please save yourself & go to New york city if you want a good bagel! Or in toronto there is whatabagel,it's ok but far far better than this place.
I always come here when I visit Montreal. Unfortunately this place has turned into a money grabbing, greedy establishment. I went to pick up 5 dozen bagels. The best part about this place is taking a bite from a hot soft bagels upon purchase. You can imagine 60 bagels are quite heavy to carry. So I sat down at a table in order to quickly bite into one, so that I could put down my 5 dozen bagels. The usual manager walks up to me & asked if I purchased a sandwich, & that only people who have purchased a sandwich are allowed to sit down. I looked around & there were 4 other free vacant tables, NO LINE UPS because it was afternoon 4pm. I had 1 small bagel in my hand that I was half way finished already. He was so money greedy forcing me to buy a damn sandwich (higher priced than a bagel) that he doesn't realize that I'm already carrying $80 worth of bagels in my bag & am simply trying to take a few minutes to enjoy one.
Overall, service is subpar compared to other locations. The one near the airport (DDO location) serving fresh hot soft piping bagels & they will help you bag into plastic bags too. When I asked for that at this location, they said they'll give me the plastic bags & I can do it myself.
I'm here to settle the long-standing debate: Fairmount Bagel vs. St-Viateur Bagel.
As someone who especially enjoys bagels as sandwiches, St-Viateur takes the win for me. The bagels are fresh, flavorful, & have the perfect texture-slightly crisp on the outside while still soft & chewy inside.
The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast, & the portions are surprisingly filling, making it a great spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
We tried both the Traditional & Le Steak, served on their all-dressed bagel, & both were absolutely delicious. The combination of the fresh bagel with the sandwich fillings worked perfectly & really showcased why this place is so popular.
This is definitely a spot I'll come back to every time I visit Montreal.
Recommended items: Traditional, Le Steak (on all-dressed bagel)
The sandwiches are really good. Prepare to pay in cash or interac e-transfer, as they don't accept credit cards.
The BEST bagels in MTL! Great choice of sweet or savoury options. Very friendly staff. Small little place, so it gets very busy. Well worth the trip or any wait time. Best to go early. If you go closer to closing, (as we did on 2nd visit) they may be out of bagels (except in take out bags), & serving individual sandwiches on regular bread instead. You *want* the bagels! We loved both the cinnamon raisin, toasted, with strawberry cream cheese, & the lovely steak & caramelized onions on a sesame seed bagel. You get cantaloupe slices on the side, which is a nice touch. Very, very filling, & so good you'll want to come back for more!
Managed to sneak in before the rush on a Saturday morning. It's a busy place, but the staff is super helpful for pointing you in the right direction (one counter is for just bagels, the other is for sandwiches, coffee, etc). The bagels are completely worth the hype, & they make some great breakfast sandwiches too. Worth stopping by!
It's an experience. Montreal style bagels made in front of your eyes, turned into delicious sandwiches.
Still incredible quality - winter 2026.
