2026 January 3★
An old school deli serving smoked brisket & other deli & non deli options.
SMOKE MEAT sandwich $15.95
The smoked meat was ok. Typical rye bread with mustard.
HOT BRISKET sandwich $15.95
The brisket with the gravy itself isn't bad. Soft. Very tender & easy to eat.
DAILY SOUP (pea soup) $7.00
Noodles in. Was ok.
Overall. Portions are a bit smaller & considering the price. Understand that beef prices have gone up, but seems a bit expensive for the portions given no other sides are included.
Paid Street parking at $3/hr.
I liked Snowdon Deli!
Tried the matzo ball soup which was delicious with a nice clear broth, an old fashioned style meat sandwich with a mix of fatty & lean, & a side of pickles. The sandwich was stuffed with meat that fell apart & was well seasoned but slightly too salted for my taste. I liked the pickle, you could tell they were nicely done but not crispy enough for me.
It was a a good experience & the servers were super awesome & happy. Definitely a Montreal staple.
Classic deli with a great smoked meat sandwich. Was smaller than I was expecting, but full of flavour. The meat was so tender. The matzo ball soup & potato salad were also great.
Our second favorite of the three smoked meat spots we tried. The sandwich was tasty, meat was well done & lovely peppery flavor, & the matzo ball soup was delicious. The service was on the slow side, the staff's friendliness made up for it.
Really good dining experience.
Love this place it is my go to for smoked meat in the city! It is not salty but simply tasty, texture wise is very good too
Their brisket is very good too as well as the fries & coslaw
Their matzo ball soup is also my favorite go to in Montreal, best matzo ball soup I have had so far!
Special thanks to Sherri (sorry if mispelled) for being such a tentative professional & kind waitress!
Whilst most tourists opt for the Montreal Smoked Meat at the iconic' Schwartz'. We decided to follow the recommendations of a few local chefs & head over to another Montreal institution,' Snowdon Deli' instead. In our opinion, in addition to equally if not better tasting Smoked meat, Corn Beef & Brisket, Snowdon also offers a bigger & more varied menu.
The result? A most enjoyable casual lunch with stand-out sandwiches, Jewish deli fare & a mindbogglingly good Chicken soup with dumplings( kreplach)!
Husband & I were only in Montreal for two days, & most of that time was spent hunting down good food.
Snowdon Deli topped the charts across the board for us on this short weekend break. Great atmosphere, fantastic service, & the food is filling & homey in a way that I think anyone could enjoy.
Not pictured was the chicken soup with matzo ball which we got before the smoked meat sandwich on rye & the smoked meat benny. After that we managed to snag the last bit of coffee cake & a lemon square. Everything was a star in it's own right. It all came out quickly, & was worth every single cent & more.
We haven't tried every food place in the city this weekend, obviously, but I would say that if you're ever around snowdon & you dont come here? Then you're missing out.
5. Classic Jewish deli with all the fan favourites. Come for the smoked meat, stay for the chopped liver & the chicken soup. Everything is fresh & made there, the vibe is authentic & classic. A great neighbourhood spot serving up delicious old favourites.
Excellent !
Super good smoked meat sandwich. Service is fast, & they have also a choice of corned beef or try their Matzah ball soup
