I ordered party sandwiches for a funeral, everyone loved them & the ordering & pickup process were fast & smooth. Merci Snowdon Deli!!
What an iconic staple of Montreal history, it is like a walk back in time with it's older decor & family based atmosphere. The food is quite affordable but very delicious, we got the smoke meat sandwiches with their fries. Our server was very funny, friendly & provided great recommendations to us first timers. It is very different from Schwartz but just as delicious in a different manner, their smoke meat is very tender & juicy! Worth a visit & the servers are worth tipping ✨?
One of the best chopped liver sandwiches still available in Montreal.
Don't forget the club roll. One of the best items on the menu.
Edit.: the girls that serve you are amazing, shout out to Kirsty!!! Came here with my kids to honour my dad, as this was one of our go-to places as a kid. Smoked meat platters & the Club sandwich was delish. The takeout menu is stuff of Jewish childhood dreams, latkes, knishes, party sandwiches & danishes...do yourself a favour & go. You'll love the old school deli vibe, all the wonderful food & make new memories with your kids.
Being at Snowdon Deli in the morning just feels perfect. This place has one of the best smoked meat sandwiches in the city. As good as the food was the service; Being called'dear' by an older, sweetheart of a waitress just does something to my soul. ❤
Smoked meat & Lox are very good lunch options. Always love picking up the party sandwiches. Usually fresh & tasty Jewish food with quick service. Also the eggplant 🍆 salad is amazing.
Today in Montreal .
I'd spent a considerable amount of time researching kosher delis in Montréal. I settled on Snowdons. Far enough off the track to lose the tourist lines & it had cred 🤷🏼?♂?.
Walked to the metro to find the system was locked out due to the strike . But the train wasn't. So we took the train to Lachine ? No busses. The deli was 2.9 km away . On foot. A pilgrimage with KA . We pushed on ! 😄
Snowdons didn't disappoint. Smoked meat sandwiches, kniches , half sour pickles , coleslaw , cucumber salad .
All the Jewish greatest hits . But, the surprise turned out to be the meat balls in sauce with fries. Jewtine we called it. Unbeatable . Oh, & Karneatzel . & Flieschers cherry coke !
The staff were so accommodating. We were inquisitive & clueless . We were given chopped liver on rye to see if we liked it & ended up buying a bunch of stuff for the hotel ❤?
What an experience .
Apparently good smoked beef sandwiches but I went for eggs Benedict. They were OK. I won't be back.
Whilst most tourists opt for the Montreal Smoked Meat at the iconic' Schwartz'. We decided to follow the recommendations of a few local chefs & head over to another Montreal institution,' Snowdon Deli' instead. In our opinion, in addition to equally if not better tasting Smoked meat, Corn Beef & Brisket, Snowdon also offers a bigger & more varied menu.
The result? A most enjoyable casual lunch with stand-out sandwiches, Jewish deli fare & a mindbogglingly good Chicken soup with dumplings( kreplach)!
Thank you so much for the delicious sandwiches & wonderful friendly service…
Stopped for lunch & were able to be seated immediately. Ordered smoked meat sandwiches & fries. The fries were decent & the sandwiches were fantastic. We'll be back!
Great atmosphere & welcoming. We went for take out & the service was so fast. We didn't wait for too long at all.
My family loved the sandwiches :). Would come again next time we visit Montreal
When in Montreal, you have to stop for some smoked meat!
Our large group of 10 selected Snowdon as we anticipated it to be much less busy than Schwartz's Deli & we didn't want to wait or stand to eat. We were seated right away & our server was very nice.
What we got:
- Hot brisket sandwich
- Meatballs
- Smoked meat platter (with fries, pickle, & rye)
- Coleslaw
- Sauerkraut
Final Thoughts:
All our sandwiches & platters were delicious! Soft & tender meat on the sandwich & platters, the meatballs were good but a tad sweet. I found the pickles a little too sour, but I really enjoyed the coleslaw. Would recommend checking out this spot next time you're in Montreal & craving a smoked meat sandwich.
When talking about smoked meat sandwiches in Montreal, as I researched, people always recommend Snowdon & Schwartz's. I haven't tried the other one, in my experience in Snowdon, the smoked beef sandwich is definitely top notch. I chose a medium fatty meat which was so tender & juicy with moderate smoky flavor, & I regretted having shared with family Lol. Turkey sandwich is recommended as well, different from our usual turkey ham. Meat balls are great too, just not out of my expectation. Kids love the sauce on meat balls. Others are just average, would not recommend the fries or salad.
On Luke Martin's (Chopsticks Travel channel) recommendation, I decided to give this place a try with my family & wowwwww... it was as good as advertised!!!! Very juicy smoked meat & brisket sandwiches.... the old lady that served us was really friendly too, giving us the background story of the English-speaking Jewish community. The sandwiches were reasonably priced too at $14.50 for sooooooo much meat!! Will definitely go back next time in Montreal!!!
Went to Snowdon's .on 10-20-24 at 1300. Line was about 3 minutes. Served a Smoked Meat Platter in less than 5 minutes. Excellent! Perfectly cooked. Made two sandwiches. One of the best in the city.
What I dreamed smoke meat sandwiches should taste like. The staff were also super friendly & helpful. Amazing. Skip the other places.
Really a great experienced marred by overpricing. Two small smoked meat sandwiches, two cokes, two cole slaws & one french fry totalled over $70 with 15% tip & tax! It's just too much for what it is. Great service & tasty food. Sadly, this is a "once in a while" place to visit owing to the inflated prices.
