🌸 5 stars! 🌸
We had the Japanese-Style Grilled Duck Breast Yaki Udon, & it was absolutely delicious, rich, savory, & perfectly balanced. The duck was tender & flavorful, & the whole dish came together beautifully.
The Sakura cocktails were a lovely pairing refreshing, floral, & visually stunning.
The ambiance was cozy yet modern, with a relaxed atmosphere that made the experience feel special. The service was warm, attentive, & made us feel very welcomed.
Highly recommend this spot for a nice night out or a cozy ramen date.Voir plus
5/5 stars! Shushuto Ramen is an absolute gem! I'm still shocked they don't have a location in Toronto - it's a travesty! The food, however, speaks for itself. The Carbonara cheese udon with Fried sirloin Steak is a game-changer, & the Miso Sesame Udon with duck breast is pure perfection. But the real pièce de résistance is saving the best for last: the Green Matcha Soufflé Pancake. It's the ideal ending to an already incredible meal.
2🌟- correct
3🌟- bon
4🌟- très bon
5🌟- excellentVoir plus
3.5 stars all for the carbonara udon (which is the same noodle as the ramen?)
The dipping ramen was just salty water , cold noodles & boiled pork. 1/5
Service is weird. Homie waiters were just chatting right behind me & looking at my phone screen as I type. Not greatVoir plus
We went for lunch. Very good curry udon. We will definitely go back for dinner sometimeVoir plus
Nice atmosphere, the decor is great. However the food is just average, the chicken karaage tasted like basic chicken nuggets & the porc chashu was dry. The creamy udon was the only good thing. Highly disappointed.Voir plus
The staff is better now than previous reviews stated, but the noodles didn't cut it to me as much. The ramen noodles aren't the traditional type, while the udon was over cooked. Their sauce is well made & thought out, so they are well above what you can expect in Montreal. The sushi quality & decor was also great. I'm looking forward to their brunch soufflé pancakes, which aren't common in Mtl. Their ramen tonkatsu broth was well prepared, better than the mixed instant powder or more watered down msg options we have in mtl. The carbonara was also very hearty but not overbearing.Voir plus
Fantastic udon & ramen with very filling portions ! A delicious cocktail menu as well!Voir plus
We decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary here & it was a good decision. We loved the ambiance, service, & food. Everything was too good. We would recommend the salmon tartare, which is a must try. That was our favorite. Loved the udon carbonara with shrimp. It was heavy but very different with an amalgamation of japanese & italian flavors. The Sushi Roll Ooh la la was very different with a rice paper instead of Nori. Flavors were on point. We went for the oyester mushroom bao vegan option, which we felt lacked a bit of punch. The mushroom didn't feel like the star. Chicken Mezeman felt the suace was a little too sweet for our palette, but the charred flavor on chicken was mind-blowing. Our cocktail mai tai was pretty strong &, on point, loved it. Overall, it was amazing. We will definitely be back again.Voir plus
The sashimi & udon was meh, but the rest was great! Friendly staff & nice atmosphere.
Great food & service. The chicken karaage, Bao buns & the Mazemen were really good. The carbonara udon was also tasty but it's very rich so I wouldn't get an appetizer with it unless you're starving. Would definitely come here again!Voir plus
From starter to dessert, nothing tasted very good. The mushrooms roll was better I have to say. But my in my yaki udon the shrimps had a weird taste. Even the drink was very citrus :Voir plus
Very beautiful ambience & good service by the staffs. But not so impressed by the food. Maybe, our choices were wrong. Our order was Crevette Carbonara Udon, Poulet Grille Mazemen, Karaage Chicken & one of their Vegan Sushi. The Karaage Chicken was really yum & all the remaining items were not really appealing to my taste buds... But kudos to having so many options for vegetarians/vegans.Voir plus
Food was mediocre at best. As was the service. The pork bao were disappointing. Go to Satay bros id f youre looking for bao done right 🥰. Udon noodles were just that. The menu said it had carrots & napa but they were nowhere to be found it.Voir plus
I made reservations online- it was very easy & fast. I was worried about parking, but we found the place few minutes walk from the restaurant. According to internet restaurant opens at 5.pm, we were 5:01, but there were already 10-12 people. We got a good place next to the window 🙂 I had a spicy ramen with a duck breast, there were 4 level of hotness, I took the level#1, it was a mistake- I like hot & spicy foods. So for me it was 4 from 5. My husband had udon also with duck brest- fantastic, very delicious. For drink I had a cocktail with strawberry, passion fruit & lychee & Bayless ice-cream for dessert- unusual & tasty. Sum it up: very good place to start your Valentines evening... or any evening.Voir plus
Came for their brunch menu, & was not disappointed. The food taste amazing ! We've had the famous tiramisu espresso, curry udon with mushroom, & the matcha fluffy pancake. Service was also a 10/10. You have to try it.Voir plus
Dined in twice in a month. First time was great. Service was friendly. We ordered the Udon curry & Mushroom carbonara udon as well as the Chicken karaage. Karaage was crisp & not too oily. Both udon dishes were tasty & portions were generous. Drinks were creative & balanced. Would recommend all of the above. Second time around, food & service were both disappointing. Waitress was clearly unhappy to be working & it reflected in the service. Food was subpar. We ordered the Pork ramen which lacked flavor; the broth was not rich & the pork was fibrous. We also ordered the Dry-aged steak curry. The curry flavor was tasty but we had a difficult time understanding the cook on the beef. It was chewy & lacked flavor. We would not recommend wither dishes. If this was my first visit, I would not have came back. Overall, it seems to be a hit-or-miss spot depending on what you order & staffing. Expect $20-30 per person without drinks.
Delicious cocktail, I loved the saketini. Delicious vegan udon curry, thanks for the vegan options! The service was good. I will come back definitely!
The entree "salmon tataki" & mocktails were excellent. However, the main dishes weren't amazing. I struggle to see where the value was. The "dry aged beef" was tough & dry. The black tiger prawns with Udon has 4 pieces. The other ingredients were very basic. Finally, the min 18% tip & "custom amount" that doesn't work is really unappreciated & unpleasant. Maybe I'd come try the brunch, but there's no point paying $24 Ramen, when there are better options at $15.Voir plus
I had high expectations, the food is a little overpriced in my opinion. The taste was not the best. The Scallops with fish roe were not the freshest (fishy oudor, mostly overcooked, udon noodles were below average. Had better Japanese food in many other restaurants in montreal. The drinks were good. The service was very slow. There was a 20 min gap between the time we got our first dish & our last dish. They also messed up my friends' orders. The place & atmosphere were nice, though. The food does not match the decor.Voir plus
Pretty good 👍 Tempura crispy Chasu in the ramen was one of the best ever tasted Creamy Udon was really nice, lots of umami flavors Tataki vinaigrette is really nice & goes well with the radishVoir plus
I wanted to share my recent experience at your restaurant, as I believe honest feedback is valuable for continuous improvement. My friends & I were excited to visit Shushuto after seeing enticing posts on social media. Despite a minor delay in setting up our table, we were seated promptly, & our order was taken at 1:15 pm for our party of six. While the initial hiccup with the drink order was gracefully corrected by a courteous waiter, our overall experience took an unexpected turn. The dishes were served with a considerable delay, with the first two plates arriving at 2:25 pm, accompanied by a mix-up in the order. Though the situation was resolved after double-checking the tablet, it did contribute to a longer wait time. Someone in our party ordered the scallops, & despite the dish looking appealing, there was a noticeable fishy smell. While we speculated it might be the Tobiko, the uncertainty was a bit unsettling. Furthermore, we noticed some inconsistencies in the temperature of the dishes, & the miso soup had a thick consistency with a noticeable fatty smell. Additionally, the noodles in the udon were overcooked. Our overall experience was also impacted by a considerable delay in receiving our dishes, especially when compared to a party of two that arrived later & received their meals & drinks within 25-30 minutes. At the end of our meal, another waitress, who seemed to have sensed our dissatisfaction, inquired about our experience. We shared our concerns with her, & while she made an effort to address the issues, the resolution only extended to two members of our party. She mentioned coming back to assist the remaining four, but unfortunately, she, like her colleague, seemed to have disappeared into the background. I share this feedback with the intention of providing constructive input, as I genuinely believe your restaurant has the potential for excellence. However, regrettably, my friends & I have decided not to return based on our recent experience. Thank you for your understanding, & I wish you the best in your ongoing efforts to enhance the dining experience at Shushuto.Voir plus
