🌸 5 stars! 🌸
We had the Japanese-Style Grilled Duck Breast Yaki Udon, & it was absolutely delicious, rich, savory, & perfectly balanced. The duck was tender & flavorful, & the whole dish came together beautifully.
The Sakura cocktails were a lovely pairing refreshing, floral, & visually stunning.
The ambiance was cozy yet modern, with a relaxed atmosphere that made the experience feel special. The service was warm, attentive, & made us feel very welcomed.
Highly recommend this spot for a nice night out or a cozy ramen date.Voir plus
My husband & I celebrated our 39th Anniversary at Shushuto Bar & Ramen Plus Tapas.
Our Server Ben was exceptionally accommodating. The Food is Delicious & generous portion. We ordered the salad mango with grilled chicken,Japanese Steak Katsu for Appetizers ,followed with Sashimi Platter Salmon & avocado,& Japanese pancake Rose-Berries dessert & Affogato Baileys & cappuccino to end our dining experience.
It's the Best Japanese Restaurant we ever trie
& Oh. Ben gifted us a slice of cheesecake
Thanks Ben !!Voir plus
I tried this restaurant's food at the Yatai Montreal Japanese food festival & was really disappointed. After ordering just one order of beef skewers & one order of shrimp skewers (which cost a steep $33 total), I had to wait over 20 minutes to receive them. When the food finally arrived, the beef was so tough & chewy it was literally inedible-I had to spit it out. The shrimp was fine, but nothing special, especially for the price. After this experience, I have no interest in trying their actual restaurant. Definitely not worth the wait or the money.Voir plus
Truly authentic Japanese ramen🍜 The broth is so exquisitely done! Delightful flavours all around. Impeccable service! Great vibe!
The bartender is so talented & skillful. Wide selections of nice cocktails & creative drinks🍸Highly recommend this fun & yummy place to all the food enthusiasts!Voir plus
We celebrated a birthday dinner as a group of 8 & had an amazing time thanks to friendly & attentive service, delicious Japanese-inspired fusion dishes, & fun cocktails! The team made sure all our orders & bills arrived promptly so we could make it to our ticketed event on time. Thanks guys! We'll be back! 🇯🇵Voir plus
excellent food, great variety & innovative fusion japanese dishes. great cocktails & choice of Sake. A tad noisy, definitely for a'young crowd' & less for a family dinner. We went for my son's birthday (30) 6 people including a 5 year old child, but overall great restaurant. Easy to find Parking in adjacent streets. Walking distance from Atwater Market.Voir plus
This is such an elevate japanese restaurant! All the menu looks delicious. I want to try them all! I'm a big fan of all of it, the atmosphere, food, drink, decor!Voir plus
Absolutely amazing Japanese food, they also are incredibly accommodating for allergies!Voir plus
Best Japanese food experiences i have ever had in a long time. Definitely recommended this to everyone, its totally worth it.Voir plus
We decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary here & it was a good decision. We loved the ambiance, service, & food. Everything was too good. We would recommend the salmon tartare, which is a must try. That was our favorite. Loved the udon carbonara with shrimp. It was heavy but very different with an amalgamation of japanese & italian flavors. The Sushi Roll Ooh la la was very different with a rice paper instead of Nori. Flavors were on point. We went for the oyester mushroom bao vegan option, which we felt lacked a bit of punch. The mushroom didn't feel like the star. Chicken Mezeman felt the suace was a little too sweet for our palette, but the charred flavor on chicken was mind-blowing. Our cocktail mai tai was pretty strong &, on point, loved it. Overall, it was amazing. We will definitely be back again.Voir plus
I had never heard of this place, but it was among a list of places my son presented for my choice to dine & since I had never had Japanese food aside from sushi, this was my pick. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. We had Margaritas, Salmon Tataki, Bao with chicken, Karaage fried Chicken, Ramen Soup with Crab & more, all absolutely delicious! Great ambience. The service was a bit slow to start, but improved once the dishes began to roll out. The servers were friendly & very efficient. Definitely a return visit is in the cards.Voir plus
First off, the AC is controlled by the building owners, & it's not cold just cool. So dress casually to make the whole experience more cooling 😊. Order the summer special X Singapore menu. The Singapore sling! At last I found you...... Taste wise not bad.... The alcohol is strong in this shop! We all like! The Slaw salad, i think it's a fusion off the lohei that singaporeans eat during chinese new year. If you are not used to raw veg, this can be mehhhh. But i find it refreshing, oh! Remember to mixed it up before you eat. Toss toss toss! The second course, i choose with broth & pork. The charsiew is like the Japanese ramen charsiew. Not the singaporean charsiew, so manage the expectations & think Japanese ramen style. Added the soft shell crab. It's nice! But i can barely finish half the ramen. The portion looks small but it's huge! You can ask for hot sauce, but it's still super mild spicy. Had the mango pudding..... Taste, close. Texture, too firm. There's coconut cream on top, maybe if they use coconut milk would be better. So..... Verdict, price point, super duper worth it! Food, i would say i will come back & try the non Singapore menu. Drinks, definitely!!!!!!!!!!!Voir plus
Food quality was great BUT brunch was not Japanese. We got the pancakes, the French toast, the ramen, & the beef with eggs. The pancakes were closer to a cake consistency rather than a fluffy jiggly pancake that they serve in Japan. They were dense & too heavy to enjoy fully. The French toast was ok but also not Japanese-style where the inside is supposed to be somewhat creamy/custardy in consistency. This was still very much toast-like & dry-ish. The beef & eggs were great, & very rich in flavour/umami; Tender beef & well marinated eggs. The bread that came with the mushroom sauce was soft at first but 3 minutes later, they turned rock hard & were hard to chew. For the Ramen, The broth was great! The egg was wonderful & overall very enjoyable. The fried chicken (karaage) was also really great! Juicy pieces of chicken! I personally think they have more strength in savoury plates vs sweet plates so I would recommend going savoury.Voir plus
Good Japanese food with friendly service in a trendy ambiance.Voir plus
For the pancakes, we expected to be those typical Japanese one which it juggles when you shack the plate but it's not that one, a little bit disappointed 😣Voir plus
The service & atmosphere was nice. As for the food, don't mistake the fluffy pancake for Japanese fluffy pancake. It is not the jiggly Japanese pancake you would expect, but rather just a thick piece of sponge cake. The mazemen also lacked flavor.Voir plus
Went here with three other friends. It averages to about 35$ per person for a dish+drink. I was disappointed in my japanese pancake. Instead of it being fluffy, airy, jiggly as its supposed to be, mine was DENSE (see picture) & felt undercooked. It tasted heavily of cooked eggs & not anything else. Couldn't taste the matcha flavour even with the sauce. The matcha sauce was hot & "cooked" the fruits on top of the pancakes, which I didn't like. The service was very professional & nice. The place was clean & is a good spot for hanging out with friends.Voir plus
The vanilla pancake was too sweet & it's really not like the Japanese fluffy pancake. I'm just glad the mocha coffee & karaage were delicious. The service crew were all nice, we were just disappointed that our orders took more than an hour to arrive (except for our coffee & karaage). The place is nice & clean tho.Voir plus
Nice, modern place. The food was really good. I loved mazemen PORC ABURI CHASHU & IKURA. It is a ramen without billion. It was delicious! I also tried their Japanese pancakes with matcha cream & it was nice but not super. The downside was that the coffee that was included with the brunch (aka pancakes) was never offered to me. The service was a bit rookie. But otherwise, it is a great place.Voir plus
Overall very good. Personal opinion but hot chocolate & the bourbon vanilla pancake are not great. It's not the fluffy Japanese pancake you expect, it's quite dense I would say. The green tea pancake was better than vanilla.Voir plus
Very lovely crew, nice restaurant interior, but tbh the food was subpar. We went for their Japanese brunch & it was rather disappointing. Nothing on our plate was created with the palette of Japanese cuisine. It didn't taste bad, it it was your usual Montreal greasy potatoes with avocado, dry bread & more greasy mushrooms. As someone who lived in Japan for years, this was sad. But again, as far as generic food goes, it was fine.
Good Japanese inspired brunch. We ordered the pancakes, sizzling steak, duck mazemen & karaage. All dishes were tasty but nothing blew me away. The mazemen was a bit too sweet for me & the pancakes were more like a cake texture & not jiggly. Overall, a good experience!Voir plus
Went for brunch with my sisters, & we ordered multiple meals to share. It was perfect as we were able to try almost everything from the brunch menu! My favorite would be the japanese'pain doré'. So fluffy & not too sweet. The service was great & we received all of our plates at the same time. Overall, we had a great time there. For my constructive comments I would say that the matcha latte was a bit too bitter & the coffees that came with our meals weren't served when we asked for them. We received only after multiple requests. The grilled steak was also a bit too over cooked, but the rest was really enjoyable!Voir plus
I came with my mother & sister to try out this bar that was highly rated for their brunch on social media. We started off with the chashu pork baos - they arrived cold & one of them contained butcher's string. When we got our main dishes, the chicken carbonara was disappointing - the dish overall tasted bland, like pasta water. Other than those two menu items having issues, their fluffy Japanese pancakes & brunch curries were good.
I had high expectations, the food is a little overpriced in my opinion. The taste was not the best. The Scallops with fish roe were not the freshest (fishy oudor, mostly overcooked, udon noodles were below average. Had better Japanese food in many other restaurants in montreal. The drinks were good. The service was very slow. There was a 20 min gap between the time we got our first dish & our last dish. They also messed up my friends' orders. The place & atmosphere were nice, though. The food does not match the decor.Voir plus
Ramen was on point, but everything else was terribly under seasoned. The salmon tartare & chips, very bland. Chicken yakitori was underseasoned, & the dipping sauce simply didn't make sense... lemongrass? In Japanese cuisine? No. Even the edamame was underseasoned. A sprinkle of togarashi just won't cut it... you need to add salt buddy. We wanted to order more but I think we tasted enough. The only saving grace was the pork in the ramen was on par.
Highlights are the sake cocktails. To label this restaurant as authentic Japanese is not accurate. It is Japanese fusion. Very loud atmosphere, impossible to hear your server & your company.Voir plus
Unfortunately, the aged beef ramen was horrible. The texture of the meat, the taste, etc.. the broth was also very bad.
The saké & Ikura mazemen was also very bad. The sauce was sour & the texture of the noodles were not good.
The yakitori was horrendous. Again texture of the meat was bad & even the taste.
The only thing enjoyable was the karaage.
After going to Japan, this is so far off authentic Japanese cuisine.
Unfortunately, will not return.
Ramens are amazing, cool decor & friendly staff. If you want a nice modern Japanese experience, you're at the right place!
