Food is alright. For the price, you expect more quality & bigger portions since the menu seems so diverse… I ordered the Karaage as an entrée & it came much smaller than expected; almost the same size of mcdo chicken nuggets. Go for the Instagram pics, not for the food. The cocktails were 11/10 tho!Voir plus

We had a great evening at Shushuto with friends. The food was amazing (we started with fried chicken, edamame & scallops, had a bunch of delicious cocktails & ramen). Don't know what was better the food or the service (thanks Charles!). Definitely a place you want to hit up for date night or a night out with friends. Make sure to reserve because the place gets busy!Voir plus

Service wasn't great. The ramen noodle it's self was good but the rest of the soup wasn't, my chicken was cold & didn't taste right. However, good sushi, & good cocktails.Voir plus

Nice atmosphere, the decor is great. However the food is just average, the chicken karaage tasted like basic chicken nuggets & the porc chashu was dry. The creamy udon was the only good thing. Highly disappointed.Voir plus

We decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary here & it was a good decision. We loved the ambiance, service, & food. Everything was too good. We would recommend the salmon tartare, which is a must try. That was our favorite. Loved the udon carbonara with shrimp. It was heavy but very different with an amalgamation of japanese & italian flavors. The Sushi Roll Ooh la la was very different with a rice paper instead of Nori. Flavors were on point. We went for the oyester mushroom bao vegan option, which we felt lacked a bit of punch. The mushroom didn't feel like the star. Chicken Mezeman felt the suace was a little too sweet for our palette, but the charred flavor on chicken was mind-blowing. Our cocktail mai tai was pretty strong &, on point, loved it. Overall, it was amazing. We will definitely be back again.Voir plus

I live close to this place but noticed it was a chain, so never was overly interested. I dropped it for the 16$ lunch Ramen special & got the pork. The creamy flavour is there just watered down with chicken broth. Underwhelming. The pork itself was dry & the Ramen egg barely tasted of soy. Disappointing. I imagine it's better to go for a drink & some nibbles.Voir plus

I had never heard of this place, but it was among a list of places my son presented for my choice to dine & since I had never had Japanese food aside from sushi, this was my pick. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. We had Margaritas, Salmon Tataki, Bao with chicken, Karaage fried Chicken, Ramen Soup with Crab & more, all absolutely delicious! Great ambience. The service was a bit slow to start, but improved once the dishes began to roll out. The servers were friendly & very efficient. Definitely a return visit is in the cards.Voir plus

It took 45 minutes to get drinks & our appetizers. The drinks were great however, the appetizers were meh.The karage chicken was bland & the gyoza dumpling were nothing special. However, the mao buns were great! Our main dishes were ramen & the chicken was dry & bland. I do not think I will be coming back. The food was mediocre & it took a very long time to receive our food & drinks. You can find other places that are better for the same price.Voir plus

Food quality was great BUT brunch was not Japanese. We got the pancakes, the French toast, the ramen, & the beef with eggs. The pancakes were closer to a cake consistency rather than a fluffy jiggly pancake that they serve in Japan. They were dense & too heavy to enjoy fully. The French toast was ok but also not Japanese-style where the inside is supposed to be somewhat creamy/custardy in consistency. This was still very much toast-like & dry-ish. The beef & eggs were great, & very rich in flavour/umami; Tender beef & well marinated eggs. The bread that came with the mushroom sauce was soft at first but 3 minutes later, they turned rock hard & were hard to chew. For the Ramen, The broth was great! The egg was wonderful & overall very enjoyable. The fried chicken (karaage) was also really great! Juicy pieces of chicken! I personally think they have more strength in savoury plates vs sweet plates so I would recommend going savoury.Voir plus

First time we've come. Great spot for brunch, we had the bourbon vanilla pancakes, the shared fried chicken & porc Mazemen. Each dish was 10/10 for flavor & great sized portions. The price we found was very reasonable for what you get. We'll definitely go back. & the service was very welcoming, friendly & knowledgeable!Voir plus

Great food & service. The chicken karaage, Bao buns & the Mazemen were really good. The carbonara udon was also tasty but it's very rich so I wouldn't get an appetizer with it unless you're starving. Would definitely come here again!Voir plus

The food here is amazing. I had the kastu curry with chicken & tried some of the dry age steak but personally I loved the chicken over the steak but this might just because I don't really care for steaks in general. Even with my preference I still think both were delicious. The drinks were amazing I had a bit of everything I forgot exactly what I ordered however I doubt you'll have issues getting something delicious. The atmosphere was amazing I came here for a birthday & I would recommend anyone to come here for birthday, dates or just as a place to whine down as it just super relaxing. I can't wait to come back again & try more things from the menuVoir plus

The place is huge. It's gorgeous. The cocktails are amazing!!!! The service was excellent! The edamame was the best I ever had!!! That little spices mixture they put on top was yummy!! The karaage chicken excellent. My miso ramen... the noodle was perfectly cooked, but I don't feel like the broth had enough miso flavor. As for the matcha pancakes they would have been over the top if they werent a little burned on top... Minus does little things.. I would definitely go back though.Voir plus

Very beautiful ambience & good service by the staffs. But not so impressed by the food. Maybe, our choices were wrong. Our order was Crevette Carbonara Udon, Poulet Grille Mazemen, Karaage Chicken & one of their Vegan Sushi. The Karaage Chicken was really yum & all the remaining items were not really appealing to my taste buds... But kudos to having so many options for vegetarians/vegans.Voir plus

Dined in twice in a month. First time was great. Service was friendly. We ordered the Udon curry & Mushroom carbonara udon as well as the Chicken karaage. Karaage was crisp & not too oily. Both udon dishes were tasty & portions were generous. Drinks were creative & balanced. Would recommend all of the above. Second time around, food & service were both disappointing. Waitress was clearly unhappy to be working & it reflected in the service. Food was subpar. We ordered the Pork ramen which lacked flavor; the broth was not rich & the pork was fibrous. We also ordered the Dry-aged steak curry. The curry flavor was tasty but we had a difficult time understanding the cook on the beef. It was chewy & lacked flavor. We would not recommend wither dishes. If this was my first visit, I would not have came back. Overall, it seems to be a hit-or-miss spot depending on what you order & staffing. Expect $20-30 per person without drinks.Voir plus

I live in South Texas, USA, & was brought to Shushuto by wonderful friends. I can't comment on location because I have no idea where we were. The ambience was nice casual, modern, asian. Everything I saw was clean & run very well. We walked in on a snowy Sunday night & there was no wait, & plenty of tables.. On a post, there were convenient hooks to hang your overcoat. My friends all speak French, Spanish & English. I speak English, Spanish & Portuguese & could understand some of the French menu, but not quite enough to make sense. The server was very gracious & kind to bring me an English menu. We started off with an appetizers of mixed skewers: shrimp, chicken, sweet potato & others. It was all very good. I ordered the pork tonkotsu ramen soup. This soup is quite filling, flavorful, & delicious! I highly recommend it! It has some spice, but brought me more to add at the table if I wanted it. The server kept our glasses full & ensured we had a wonderful meal. She is a true gem. I wish I could remember her name to recognize her in this review. The music was pleasant, but a tad loud. Thankfully it was not so loud as to make conversation difficult. Perhaps I'm just getting old. I really enjoyed Shushutos, &, if you enjoy Asian fusion, think you will too. I would certainly return if ever in Montreál again!Voir plus

I tried this place for the first time this weekend & it was an excellent experience! The restaurant itself is very well designed, with a striking bar in the middle making the space very attractive from the outside as well. The food was amazing, we ordered a chicken Bao, which was very tasty, crunchy & fluffy at the same time. We also had the dry aged meat Mazzemen, which was a very nice combination, the noodles as well as the other ingredients were delicious ! Highly recommend this place, as they also have an extensive wine list.Voir plus

Truly enjoyed our experience at Shushuto Bar à Ramen + Tapas. Service? Kind & attentive! The drinks? Works of art & Tasty af! The food? Deeeelicious! We were three & shared 3 tapas (edamame, karaage chicken, salad). That salad, was out of this world, booming with flavours! We each took a main meal, & we left very happy & full! Thank you for a great experience!Voir plus

I came with my mother & sister to try out this bar that was highly rated for their brunch on social media. We started off with the chashu pork baos - they arrived cold & one of them contained butcher's string. When we got our main dishes, the chicken carbonara was disappointing - the dish overall tasted bland, like pasta water. Other than those two menu items having issues, their fluffy Japanese pancakes & brunch curries were good.

The value is what will keep me coming back. Great prices for tasty food. Chose some less popular items which is maybe why taste wasn't as good as it could be but still very nice. Chicken bao was a little dry. The only complaint is that when the table next to me was cleaned, there was a strong vinegar (I understand its part of the cleaning solution) smell for the next 10 minutes which was a bit disturbing. Overall, still a great experience. Thank you!

Ramen was on point, but everything else was terribly under seasoned. The salmon tartare & chips, very bland. Chicken yakitori was underseasoned, & the dipping sauce simply didn't make sense... lemongrass? In Japanese cuisine? No. Even the edamame was underseasoned. A sprinkle of togarashi just won't cut it... you need to add salt buddy. We wanted to order more but I think we tasted enough. The only saving grace was the pork in the ramen was on par.
