Visited Satu Lagi for lunch & had a great experience. We ordered the chicken satay BBQ & beef satay BBQ, both of which were delicious, especially with the rich coconut peanut sauce on the side. The Jamur Jamur (BBQ oyster mushrooms) was aberate ant its best & something I wouldn't order again.
I ordered the Chili Lemak & the Chili Maple Ayam Goreng. A heads-up: the chili sauce served alongside them is insanely spicy, so use it sparingly if you're sensitive to heat! The coconut rice was an excellent pairing with everything we ordered.
For drinks, we had the pandan mango beverage. It looked beautiful but was fairly average, as I couldn't taste much pandan nor mango. The Indonesian coffee was decent. The real surprise was the laksa-it was excellent & one of the highlights of the meal.
The restaurant has a great vibe, is spotless, & the service was top-notch throughout our visit. As far as I know, it's probably the only Indonesian restaurant in town, & it's definitely worth checking out if you're craving Indonesian flavors.
Came here with friends & we had the broccoli, fried mushrooms, chicken skewers with sauce, pomelo & mango salad & the tofu. All was incredible but the tofu was too rich for one person to eat themself so best to share it.
2026: I came back on my own & ordered the garlic marinated tempeh satay, the 4 veg sambals with chips & the litchinade. The tempeh came with the peanut sambal so it was a good combination if you want to try the sambals with chips. The peanut sambal was definitely my favourite of the 4 so I'd recommend getting the tempeh so you could try it instead of getting the other sambals on their own if you're on a limited budget. The homemade chips were so good. They were made of a special nut & a root vegetable but I forget what they were called. The tempeh had a nice marinade & the cucumber & red chili on the side added fun freshness & flavour. The mocktail wasn't that exciting but still good. The service was great & the terrace was beautiful
Went there on Sunday & the terrace experience was horrible.
First of all the terrace is very tight & the tables / chairs are parallel meaning you sitting right next to everyone. Tables are so small (the menu is bigger than half of the table). Chairs are so close that it just felt like we're one big family, my neighbor also shot a little bit of shrimp sauce on us (not his fault though as he was litterally closer to me than my partner in front of me). There's no privacy whatsoever.
Now that's not the reason for my 1 star though. I am fine with this terrace approach as long as you are able to meet customers needs on time. It seemed to me that they tried to maximize the number of clients & are unable to serve them.
We had to wait 1h 20 mins for our plates then we just decided to leave after being served a plate of 3 shrimps. That plate is supposedly a shared platter but i guess each person takes 1.5 shrimp? Maybe just make it 4 by default & not try to rob us with an additional shrimp since you guys' concept is shared platters).
After that 1h 20mins of waiting we just decided to pay for the shrimps & leave. Only then we get told our plates are now ready. They did look good from afar but having not tasted them i can't know.
That being said the whole experiencd was horrible.
Was near the area & wanted to try some Indonesian food. We ordered most of the beef & prawn related items on the menu, as well as all the desserts. Everything tasted very good. My favourite was the chicken leg, it goes so well with the sauce. The skewers were also delicious & tender, but the prawn one could have more flavour. Their service could be a little more organized. We had multiple waitresses come over to ask the same things, & when we asked for them, they said they were busy & would come back but never came back. I would also recommend a reservation as they dont have that much seating & it gets pretty busy, even on weekdays. The desserts weren't that special, tasted average for the price. But I would still recommend if you're looking for Indonesian style food!
Highly recommend! My friend & I were in Montreal a few weeks ago. We discovered this restaurant while having dinner at the restaurant next door the night before. We viewed the menu near their door & decided to come here for dinner the next night. We were astonished by the fusion of Indonesian & Malaysian dishes. My friend & I tried the assorted sambal (pecel, hainan, tumis, & matah) with our dishes. My friend had the chips with the sambal & loved it. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the chips as they are cooked with the same oils as the meats & I am vegan. I tried the Kari Kelapa which came with a whole coconut mixed with vegetables, green leaves, & tofu. It was delicious! Once I finished the curry, I was able to eat the inside of the coconut which scraped off easily & cleanly; I was impressed. My friend & I shared the coconut-lemongrass rice, which was delicious. She ordered the Kerang Kemangi which came with steamed mussels in lemon-basil coconut sauce; she loved it. All the staff members were friendly & professional. I always love a dimly lit restaurant.
Came to Satu Lagi for the third time & finally got to try their brunch! Menu is not overwhelming, but contains a good variety of dishes. I had the sambal eggs, & really enjoyed the coconut sauce. Lacking the spice I was expecting but the eggs were poached perfectly. Another fantastic visit to this restaurant. I am always fascinated by the complex flavors & innovative dishes!
Adored the satay skewers as well as their complementary sauces. The chicken, calamari, beef & rice were all great. They serve lovely cocktails that are powerful & diverse in flavour. The portion sizes are a bit smaller but very typical for tapas style / sharing style restaurants. Lovely atmosphere, decor & interior design. Professional & clean service.
