The « tasting menu » isn't on the menu but be sure to ask if they offer it that night! You will not regret it if you do, we were so full & for $65 /per person it was an incredible deal. Truly an amazing experience between all the balance of Thai flavours. The only place that I could say is better than my mom's 🤫
Be prepared for a pricey, garlicky spicy experience. Authentic Thai plates in a cozy atmosphere. Quality ingredients a bit overpriced. Service is excellent
2024: friendly attentive service, was patient while I sampled different wines. Definitely recommend their Pinot Blanc from Alsace. Scallops were good but spicy. Duck yellow curry was delicious. Beef salad was pretty good. Swordfish was okay but the sauce was nice. Thai tea tiramisu was fantastic. Mango pudding was alright, might be better without the grass jelly. Cute decor. My sister enjoyed the music. 2022: Excellent service. Great food.
The food is very sour. I used to taste some Thailand food restaurant & this one beyond my sour boundaries🥵. Also, it is over priced that can cost each around 40-50$/each people.
Went here during my weeklong stay in Montreal for my honeymoon. Of all the places we went to, we were most disappointed by Pichai. We asked our waiter to order us whatever was good; to kind of "build a tasting menu" off of things already on the menu. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell if the waiter had totally wrong taste for us, or if the food quality just isn't great across the board, but we were really underwhelmed by what was presented. The first couple of dishes that came out were all'cold' dishes, like a cold chicken & a mango salad. It's hard to critique food sometimes, but across the board, the flavors were just... not hitting right. Nothing tasted great or even good to us - except the dessert. The shredded ice with peaches was amazing. I know we came right at opening, so perhaps the kitchen wasn't in the swing of it yet. We both love Thai food & were so excited about this place, but it ended up being the sore thumb of the trip. Now when we reminisce about the honeymoon we always remind each other, "do you remember how sad we were about Pichai?". In a way, it was an experience we won't forget. There are many great reviews, we wish we were one of them! :(
Repas sublime!
Pichai, I love you. The food is always shockingly good & tasty. Flavours are balanced with even spice, sweet, sour & salt. Eating here with my friend is always an exercise of eating as quickly as we can like animals bc it's just so darn good. They've improved their Thai tea tiramisu & it's so much stronger now. Salivating as I write this.
Not your standard Thai affair. A bit pricey for what it is, but good atmosphere & unique dishes. It specializes in shareable dishes. Great for a small group, but music & table size makes it unwieldy for any group bigger than 4. Kind of a mix between a bar & dim sum / tapas
Casual setting with great food! We ordered the Chicken dish, Vegan Papaya Salad, Fried Eggs with Tamarind, Vegan Panang & Lamb. We enjoyed all the dishes & ordered the Thai Tiramisu as a dessert. Didn't know a Thai version of Tiramisu existed- Glad we ordered because it was perfect amount of sweet & texture for us! We ordered the one cocktail (with Tequila) they were serving & a mocktail version of it- Was okay. Their service is good & so quick. Loved the hospitality!
Best Thai food I've had since being in southeast Asia. Got 3 menu items (the pork neck, chicken legs, & Som Tham) & for 2 people that was a lot. Came with sticky rice. Extensive wine list, but only 2 cocktails (which is cool, they're a wine bar). Food was absolutely crazy for how much you pay per person. Worth making the trip from wherever you are in Montreal.
Thai food is one of the most fragrant & tasty cuisines on earth. This restaurant is anything but. The dumplings were soggy bland balls of mush. The porc balls were overcooked under seasoned rubber balls. The lamb was decent but by far the most expensive thing on the menu. This is a cocktail bar, not a restaurant. I guess if you’re drunk the food must taste better.
Overrated, overhyped & overpriced. The food is okay, but lacks flavour, is pretentious & definitely not worth the wait. There are other smaller, cheaper & more authentic Thai places in Montreal.
This is more of a looks good on IG but doesn't taste good irl kind of place. Save your money & time & go one of the many friendlier family run businesses in the area for authentic Thai food. Disappointed.
Vibe is great but the food is NOT; this is the type of "thai" cuisine that has been overly adapted to Western interpretation.
I will remember the meal I had at Pichai for a long time I think. & thanks to the chef for using a good amount of chilis. It’s not real Thai food without it.
One of the better Thai food places I’ve tried in Canada. Most of the dishes were great, but the corn salad & sausage dish really fell flat. Drinks were a little watered down, & the food was a tad pricey for what it was. Definitely worth the visit, but personally did not live up to the hype for me.
The food was really disappointing especially for the price. I had the green curry special & it was so oily. The sauce had a decent flavour but nothing mind blowing. It was like the vegetables & meat couldn’t hold the flavour because the sauce was so oily it just slid off. & the beef was also very fatty & hard to chew. The prices were outrageous. The veg red curry took on a strange flavour the more it sat. The tamarind egg were so underwhelming basically just a soft boiled egg. The papaya salad was our favourite but you could find something comparable at probably any Thai restaurant. Our server was very kind & the ambience was great. Unfortunately the food was a let down.
I had no expectations when I went to Pichai & was really impressed by the food. I remember the tapioca dumpling as one of my favorites but everything on their menu was delicious. If you're a group, you should definitely share & try everything. We had a really good night & a belly full of wine & Thai food.
