The music was at a good level, there were so many people making the place lively but just enough that you don't have to wait too long before getting a seat. The service was nice & friendly but sometimes it would take quite a long time before you manage to catch the attention of a waiter. The food itself was enjoyable. We have mixed feelings because we really really enjoyed the flavours of the tapioca dumplings but on the other hand, the papaya salad was not our cup of tea. The dumplings were bursting with good flavours & the lettuce had a nice texture variation from the soft & chewy tapioca. The meat paired well with the vegetable & the flavours were in harmony. On the other hand, we have the papaya salad that had raw green beans that did not taste good & the overall flavour profile was just sour, & in the occasional bites, there would be a very spicy note. It was really not enjoyable to us. But the overall we had a pretty fun time dining here!
Went to Pichai for dinner with a friend, & had a bunch of dishes to share that were all delicious! Loved the Som Tum Thai papaya salad & the Phai Mamuang Tod (pictured here) was flavourful, not too sweet & a delicious way to end the meal! Would recommend ordering a couple things to share ✨
Everything about this restaurant was exceptional, from the food to the vibes to the service. We had:
- Beef tartare (seasoned perfectly & served with sticky rice & endives to make little wraps)
- Papaya salad (so fresh & exactly what you would expect)
- Tom Yum soup, which was one of the specials (high quality, imported seafood all cooked to tender perfection in a savoury broth that warmed us to the core)
- Tiramisu (the Thai tea flavour really shone through & it was delicious, but a tad on the sweet side. Loved the addition of coconut chips on top which added texture).
My only minor issue was the quantity of cilantro on everything, though I know this is a personal preference. The soup was also served in a vessel that was very cool (central flame to keep it warm), but felt a bit impractical for serving the soup since the ladle barely fit inside it.
There was a lovely selection of natural wines to complement the meal.
Overall, really nice ambiance & great flavours, you can tell a lot of love goes into these dishes. Would definitely return!
amazing. LOVE the scallops, fermented pork belly, grilled pork collar & thai tea tiramisu. all super flavourful super delicious.
one thing to note we got served the sticky rice with the pork belly so we thought it came with that dish & ate it all just w that but later realized it was just a sticky rice for the table :p shoulda kept some for the other dishes
Straight forward Thai flavours , authentic with fresh & brilliant takes. Haters are always going to try to add their grain of salt that doesn't weight much but the real ones know. I will assert myself as a connaisseur because I've spent decades studying / consuming Thai food. Oh & let's not forget the 5 star service. Bravo!! 👏⭐?🏆
We met another couple who had been before. We were warmly received. Our waitress Paras was excellent. She definitely knew how to upsell. As they promote'family style' which is popular these days with restaurants as it is effective in getting customers to spend more. We had several plates starting with the fish balls. These were good but a bit chewy for my taste. The sticky rice was way too sticky. Then we had the fermented pork which was tasty. Then the dumplings which were also good. We had some marinated tuna from a secondary menu which was delicious & the arctic char which was whole fish. It was spicy & delicious as well. I found the food flavourful & the service was excellent. The shortcomings were the sticky rice which needs to be worked on. I also found the wine list was super expensive with no budget options. I also didn't like our seating as our booth for 4 was awkward & uncomfortable. A bit of work needed to get to 5 stars but a pleasant & somewhat pricey experience with wine. Would recommend.
Best Thai food in Montreal hands down! Every dish is an explosion of flavour. The scallop crudo is so incredibly fresh, it really is a must. Don't forget to try the shaved ice for dessert even if you are full !!!
Such a great meal! Every dish was delicious & so flavourful.
The service was impeccable.
One of my favourite meals that I've had in a really long time. It's well worth what you're spending - truly amazing flavours in every dish we ordered, & great vibes/atmosphere.
Ate here blindly & was really impressed, great service & the food has so much flavour! Highly recommend giving this place a shot for something new & unique! Wish the portions were larger 🙏
Awesome foody place full of locals. Very delicious flavours & inventive dishes for Thai lovers; reasonably priced. Easy to make same day reservation. Come early on weekends because service can be a bit slow sometimes.
This is my 2nd time to Pichai. Service is impeccable, accommadating. The food is outstanding. The textures, portions, flavours, presentation were as perfect as last year with several different items I had not tried before.
I went with friends & family that love heat.
Luk Shin Plaa Tod fish balls were bursting with flavours. I could have devoured the sweet chillie
Yum Hoi Shen Raw Scallops were like a palate cleanser & was perfectly seasoned.
The Sakoo Sai Moo tapiaco dumplings were fantastic.
Naem Moo Yang had flavour & texture.
Kor Moo Yang was delicious
The sticky rice was perfect with our favourite dish the mushrooms
Then came the insanely delicious Mango: Mango jam, whipped coconut cream, condesnsed milk. Ice shaving of mango burst. Cooling the palate.
We tried two intersting wines, private collection which paired well. Last time we tried cocktails.
Porc is rarely a protein of choice, however they were beautifully prepared.
A never have desserts, however this was worth every bite & light.
Pichai is definately on my top 10 list of favourite Montreal restaurants.
As a Montreal licenced food guide for 33 years, working with visitors I am always looking for special hidden gems. This is definately one.
I will definately back to try more. Highly recommended

The family favourite was the fish balls. Food was spicy & flavourful. We will definitely return.
Absolutely top notch. No subtle tastes here. Punch after punch of amazing flavours in a cool ambiance.
Casual, fun & flavourful! I recommend Pichai to everyone who visits Montreal & everyone raves about it afterwards. Must get the curry & milk tea tiramisu.
Food was so overpriced for its lack of flavour & tiny portions. Wouldn't recommend anyone to go here, but the service was great.
Excellent! Warm food & atmosphere & exciting flavours. Will definitely come back again
I tried Pichai for the first time with my friend yesterday & we had a great time as the service was great! My favourite dishes were the fried fish balls & the tapioca pork dumplings! The food is extremely flavourful, but keep in mind that its very garlicky & some of the dishes were a bit too salty for my taste. Bring mints if you're coming for date night!
It was our first time trying Pichai. The food was...incredible!!! The flavours were nothing like I'd ever experienced before. Everything tasted amazing. My Cocktail was so-so. There were only 2 cocktails available, & I wish there was more of a selection, but it didn't take away from my experience. We took a patio seating as the reservations fill up fast & that's all that was left for us, but holy cow it is a very tight squeeze & you almost feel like the other tables are in your personal space also. The heat lamps weren't working so when the sun went down there was nothing to keep you warm. We rushed through the end of our meal because it was cold. Our waiter was great but he was alone on the terrace so we didn't get to see him much. But he was fully available when he came to our table once or twice. I do wish he took more time to explain the menu though because if you've never eaten Thai food it's not an easy menu to understand. I'm sure there were other things I would have ordered instead. I would go back, but I would prefer to sit inside. It looked like there was more space. Again our experience did not take away from the presentation & flavours of the food.
