The dishes were loaded with playful spicy & subtle flavours & textures, light & fresh but also satisfying like comfort food. I was so full & happy after the corn salad & eggplant salad (which came with a nice portion of sticky rice to soak up the sauce) off the temporary specials menu. I'll be back to try more dishes soon :)
2026: I came back & had the special Galam Plee Pad Gapi (cabbage with oyster mushrooms) & a half portion of the pork collar which comes with sticky rice. Both were very good. The pork is salty but in a good way when you mix it with the rice & & eat the leaf in between bites. Also, maybe I'm just socially compatible with the staff but I think they give the best service in Montreal, maybe a tie or step up from mikado. They make you feel at home !
I came back a week later to have the Tom Som Pla soup (rockfish from Gaspesie, pineapple, tamarind). It was really wholesome but the red chilies are super spicy & they don't serve it with rice so this one I'd recommend ordering a rice to go with it. I think they should just include one tbh but I was lucky enough to be sitting next to someone who let me have some of her's ;)
A few weeks later I returned & treated myself to a mushroom night : 1/2 portion of Hed Nem Tok (grilled Montreal mushroom salad) that came with sticky rice, khanom jeeb tod (fried dumplings with stuffed pork, shrimp, Woodear mushrooms, Jimmy nardello sriracha), & 1/2 portion of the gaeng panang jaay (red curry, maitake mushrooms, celeriac, seasonal greens) that came with jasmine rice. Everything was exquisite & the service amazing as usual 🫠
Great vibes, serves & food. Totally worth the money. Our food was excellent - including tofu that melts in your mouth & curry that is sweet, spicy & savory. Amazing.

We had the chef menu. I have some dietary restrictions & they were so kind to tailor all the dishes to my needs. Everything was delicious & the portions were bountiful. The staff were also amazing. I will say, the food is generally spicy but more flavorful than hot. The Thai tea tiramisu was a great finish to our meal.
A very nice Thai restaurant with authentic Thai food, good flours, & lots of taste. I went here last weekend with three friends, & the staff took good care of us. We all love spicy food & they made sure it was personalized & quick.
The vibe was really enjoyable here. The music was at a good level, there were so many people making the place lively but just enough that you don't have to wait too long before getting a seat. The service was nice & friendly but sometimes it would take quite a long time before you manage to catch the attention of a waiter. The food itself was enjoyable. We have mixed feelings because we really really enjoyed the flavours of the tapioca dumplings but on the other hand, the papaya salad was not our cup of tea. The dumplings were bursting with good flavours & the lettuce had a nice texture variation from the soft & chewy tapioca. The meat paired well with the vegetable & the flavours were in harmony. On the other hand, we have the papaya salad that had raw green beans that did not taste good & the overall flavour profile was just sour, & in the occasional bites, there would be a very spicy note. It was really not enjoyable to us. But the overall we had a pretty fun time dining here!

We started off with the scallops which were a solid 8.5/10 but everything fell apart shortly after.
The tartare & the pork jowl were okay (maybe a 6/10 but the rice that it came with felt like cement rather than sticky rice)… the food was also way too salty
The duck dish & the noodle dish however were both irredeemably disgusting. Incredibly oily, bland & the meat feeling like the texture of pet food.
We were expecting a lot more from this restaurant based on the reviews we saw online.
Thai food is usually fragrant, spicy & delicious & honestly this joint should be shut down by the Thai embassy. (False advertisement)
I went in not even sure what the menu had in store. I didn't do my homework. I didn't come prepared. But sometimes in life, it's when we least expect something that we are truly delighted. That was the case at Pichai.
As a group of 6, we were recommended to order about 12-13 dishes. We got away with about 10 & everyone was full by the end. The flavors from the pork collar, scallops, pork belly & dumplings were surprising yet complementary. Dazzling pops of lime, cilantro & choy to round out the salty & the spicy meats.
But the masterpiece, the coup de gras, the show-stopping number of the evening was the Egg... this was a capital'E' Egg - soft boiled & fried, dressed to the nines in a stunning savory sauce, cilantro & hot peppers. Massive kudos to the genius chefs that devised this Egg. This was the only dish we ordered twice because it was so amazing. I will be coming back for this Egg.
The servers were beyond fantastic... detailed & swift. They explained the adventurous menu well & made great suggestions.
The ambiance was also great. We did shamelessly whip out our phones to Shazam some songs playing over the PA.
If you feel like eating thrilling food with unique, delicate details, Pichai is the place.
We met another couple who had been before. We were warmly received. Our waitress Paras was excellent. She definitely knew how to upsell. As they promote'family style' which is popular these days with restaurants as it is effective in getting customers to spend more. We had several plates starting with the fish balls. These were good but a bit chewy for my taste. The sticky rice was way too sticky. Then we had the fermented pork which was tasty. Then the dumplings which were also good. We had some marinated tuna from a secondary menu which was delicious & the arctic char which was whole fish. It was spicy & delicious as well. I found the food flavourful & the service was excellent. The shortcomings were the sticky rice which needs to be worked on. I also found the wine list was super expensive with no budget options. I also didn't like our seating as our booth for 4 was awkward & uncomfortable. A bit of work needed to get to 5 stars but a pleasant & somewhat pricey experience with wine. Would recommend.
This is better than i expected. I really love Khor moo yang. It has the grilling smell & the pork is perfectly grilled.. not too chewy.. & the taste pretty amazing, full of flavor sour, salty, spicy. The scalop with the seafood sauce is nice but the sauce is very strong like salty hits & sour came after but overall is well done. I love the thai tea tiramisu ( its a bit sweet) but after many bites its all great. Its take awhile to get the place. We came at 7 pm & We didnt make any reservations so we didnt get the spot so we ask for available time is 9 Pm. The atmosphere is so so , loud & the light is really dimming.

We had an amazing experience here, but it was all for the food. Service could have been so much more attentive. Found the items that didn't have the *spicy note on the menu pretty spicy too, but it was still nice & balanced. The Panang curry with Maitake was lovely & the Thai tea tiramisu instantly became my favourite. Be sure to make a reservation because they can get super busy!
Fantastique evening at Pichai. What a great meal ! Food is so yummy & nicely spicy, it was a trip to Thailand & back home for a good night sleep with wonderful memory.
Came here as a group of 6 & we had anticipated it to be excellent, in which they delivered. We got the tom yum soup which was good but not our favourite of the night. We got three items from the special menu : egg beef noodles, tofu & tom yum soup. all were good but wish the tofu was more (4 pcs) especially for the price of 15$. Thé noodles were definitely good & a big portion. The top favourite was the Kor Moo Yang, which was very yummy! My friend ordered the curry & the chicken dish (forgot the name) the food very throughly enjoyed but be warned all of the dishes were spicy!! haha
my friends & I are all predominantly asian & quite frankly weren't expecting the high spice level but it was very delicious. One thing i will add which i found odd.. was that we brought in a cake for a birthday celebration & we asked them to refrigerate it & they later told us that there was a 5$ cake fee PER PERSON. That was quite a shock to us all… seeing how the dishes are a bit pricey with tax plus tip we thought this was kinda ridiculous… wish they would remove it or mention it somewhere accessible or visible. Besides that the atmosphere was great & our waitress was nice. Food was good but spicy, some dishes are larger than most & some are smaller so best ask your waiter.ess beforehand for descriptions. Overall great but maybe decide wether u wanna bring in a cake or not
It was my first time at Pichai & I hope to go back soon! My favorite dish was the shrimp curry...Lord!! Spicy sweet 🔥 heat 🔥!! The waiter was very helpful as well! Good vibes!! 💖
Be prepared for a pricey, garlicky spicy experience. Authentic Thai plates in a cozy atmosphere. Quality ingredients a bit overpriced. Service is excellent
2024: friendly attentive service, was patient while I sampled different wines. Definitely recommend their Pinot Blanc from Alsace. Scallops were good but spicy. Duck yellow curry was delicious. Beef salad was pretty good. Swordfish was okay but the sauce was nice. Thai tea tiramisu was fantastic. Mango pudding was alright, might be better without the grass jelly. Cute decor. My sister enjoyed the music. 2022: Excellent service. Great food.
Amazing food, knowledgeable & enthusiastic staff. Fish balls were best, reordered repeats. Whole fish (arctic char) was amazing. All food is quite spicy, though they tone it down for you by request. Very nice decor & sound system. Very reasonable bill. Will definitely return!
