At Bruce, we serve comforting, hearty dishes like haggis, Cullen skink, smoked haddock, black pudding, and a few boozy desserts.
Chef Scott Love leads the kitchen, bringing a background shaped in Scotland.

The drinks list is well thought out - Wine, Scotch, classic cocktails, and organic beer from Terre à Boire in Saint-Blaise.

The space is warm and familiar - dark wood, stained glass lights, and old family photos on the walls.

Drop in for a drink, something sweet, or a solid meal.

Review Summary

Reviews describe Bruce as a cozy, intimate spot with a strong Scottish vibe, offering a warm atmosphere and attentive, professional service alongside a menu of elevated traditional dishes. The food ranges from haggis and lamb shank to Cullen Skink, fish of the day, croquettes, grilled mushrooms and purées, finished with desserts like cranachan, all complemented by a notable selection of Scotch and house stout. The overall tone is that of a welcoming neighborhood favorite where thoughtful plating, generous portions, and care in sourcing and preparation stand out, creating a sense of authenticity and heart. Service is repeatedly praised for warmth and knowledge, with staff who engage about the menu and origins of ingredients, making guests feel cared for without pretense. Some comments point to high prices or occasional noise, but many reviews highlight the value, the cozy rustic charm, and the ability to turn meals into memorable experiences, whether for a casual dinner or special occasions.

I can't believe this is a new restaurant, because it doesn't feel like it in any way.

It instantly feels cozy, rustic & timeless. You get the Scottish tavern feel with incredibly elevated dishes, full of flavour & heartiness. The charred oyster mushrooms are out of this world, the sourdough bread with goat butter is unreal. It's comfort food that will satisfy even the most discerning foodies of Montreal.

The service was incredible. The attention to detail, from cleaning up between every course, to refolding the napkin when you go to the bathroom, to taking your coats as soon as you enter & giving the right ones back without asking. Flawless.

You can tell there's serious high-end hospitality experience behind this place. It feels polished but never pretentious, refined yet full of soul. What a unique blend!

I've never been to Scotland, although it's on my list, but this place made me feel like I experienced a little piece of it right in the heart of Saint-Henri. It already feels like a neighbourhood staple, & it's definitely going on my list of places I'll bring friends visiting from out of town. Outstanding.

Came here with my Scottish husband & my Scottish in-laws to try something authentic & we were not disappointed! The food felt truly traditional & the atmosphere was amazing. It really felt like a little piece of Scotland.
Would definitely recommend!

Went here for Hogmanay (NYE). Excellent & friendly service from all the staff.

Crumpet was alright. The cauliflower purée had a lumpy oatmeal texture to it that wasn't great. Haggis was pretty good, well seasoned. Scallop was nice but I was expecting more than one. The chocolate mousse & pecans were great finish. The xeres added a bit of a cherry flavour to it.

The Glesga cuppa was overpowered by the IRN BRU & just tasted like Orange Crush. The Bruce Martinez was smooth & well balanced. Selkie's kick was nice as well.

Enjoyed the music (Class Actress was a welcome surprise). The generic Christmas lights had a weird effect on my photos though as they reflected off the plates. Also using a lion logo when Scotland is more strongly associated with the unicorn is an odd choice.

Went on opening night. I have had Haggis all over Scotland & I can say without doubt this is Haggis on a completely new, brilliant level. The team at Bruce have taken hearty food & made it even more flavorful & high end, giving traditional food sympathetic treatment but a high end twist. The service is top notch, desserts were amazing & their home brewed Stout is some of the best in the city. We can't wait to go back!
