Was sad to see the previous restaurant at this location was moving. But after eating at Bruce last night, enjoying their roast (only available on Sundays) & sharing a ginger cake dessert, my sadness went away. I will be back to try their other dishes this summer! An excellent find! Highly recommended eating here.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bruce completely exceeded our expectations.
We were visiting for the first time after it was highly recommended by trusted foodie friends in Toronto, & it ended up being one of the best meals we've had in Montreal.
We've spent a lot of time in Scotland, & my husband is British, so we know what great Scottish food should taste like. Simple, seasonal ingredients, cooked with skill & respect. Bruce serves the best Scottish food we've had outside of Scotland.
We started with the famous charred leeks, followed by the Sunday Roast & the halibut. Every dish was exceptional.
The Sunday Roast was the star of the meal. The Yorkshire pudding was enormous-beautifully crisp on the outside with just the right amount of chew inside. The roast potatoes were impossibly crunchy (they must be twice-cooked & roasted in beef fat), & the beef was incredibly tender with rich, deeply flavourful gravy. It's a Sunday roast we'll be talking about for a long time.
The halibut was cooked perfectly, with a gorgeous golden sear while remaining moist & flaky. The charred leeks absolutely lived up to their reputation, with just the right amount of char & a bright, fresh pesto.
Dessert was equally memorable: seasonal strawberries with Chantilly cream, followed by homemade biscuits that the owner generously sent to our table. Such a thoughtful, unexpected gesture that perfectly summed up the experience.
What truly sets Bruce apart, though, is the hospitality. We felt less like customers & more like guests welcomed into a Scottish family home. Our server was hilarious, warm, & genuinely engaging, & Will, the owner, was incredibly gracious.
We dined on the patio on a perfect summer evening in Little Burgundy, but after seeing the beautifully authentic Scottish interior, we were already imagining how cozy it must feel on a cold Montreal winter night.
Scottish cuisine isn't necessarily what you'd think to seek out in Montreal-but Bruce is a destination restaurant. Whether you're looking for an unforgettable Sunday roast, beautifully executed seafood, or simply one of the city's best dining experiences, don't miss it. We'll absolutely be back.
Great Scottish restaurant with cozy atmosphere, friendly & knowledgeable staff, & amazing food & drinks. Be sure to check out their famous Sunday Roast!
Must go to if you are in town. The food, service, people, the drinks, everything was fantastic. Try the spicy ginger cake for dessert .
I discovered this gem last night with my wife. Great location on Notre Dame with an outdoor patio that also allows to dine with my dog. Loved the meal, especially the leek appetizer.
Bonne ambiance, très chaleureux, bon service & nourriture délicieuse.
A local gem, highly recommend! Sensational food & the staff are super friendly!
