Review Summary

Bruce is widely praised as a delightful discovery with a warm, cozy atmosphere and a strong Scottish culinary focus. Dishes such as haggis, lamb shank, Cullen Skink, croquettes, mushrooms, blood sausage, ginger cake and cranachan are highlighted, often paired with a thoughtful whisky list and a notable stout. The bread with goat butter and a range of seafood and vegetables show careful preparation, while the service is described as attentive and friendly and the vibe as authentic yet refined. Portions are generous and flavors hearty and comforting, though a few reviews note that some dishes can be pricey and that the dining room can be a bit loud. Overall the consensus points to a standout experience in Montreal that many would return to and recommend to friends, combining comfort food with a modern Scottish twist.

Perfect dishes with PERFECT serving of stout. As a person who loved stout specifically for more than 10 years, their serving of stout was really over the top.

Wow I was blown away by this restaurant. What a refreshing menu. The leeks with kale pesto were so delicate, the mushrooms had a delicious sauce & the lamb shank felt like a cozy Christmas dish. The only thing that could be improved is the noise. Maybe the music could be a little lower so people didn't have to talk so loud. I can't wait to go back & try the other dishes!

I can't believe this is a new restaurant, because it doesn't feel like it in any way.

It instantly feels cozy, rustic & timeless. You get the Scottish tavern feel with incredibly elevated dishes, full of flavour & heartiness. The charred oyster mushrooms are out of this world, the sourdough bread with goat butter is unreal. It's comfort food that will satisfy even the most discerning foodies of Montreal.

The service was incredible. The attention to detail, from cleaning up between every course, to refolding the napkin when you go to the bathroom, to taking your coats as soon as you enter & giving the right ones back without asking. Flawless.

You can tell there's serious high-end hospitality experience behind this place. It feels polished but never pretentious, refined yet full of soul. What a unique blend!

I've never been to Scotland, although it's on my list, but this place made me feel like I experienced a little piece of it right in the heart of Saint-Henri. It already feels like a neighbourhood staple, & it's definitely going on my list of places I'll bring friends visiting from out of town. Outstanding.

What a refreshing Scottish addition to Montreal's food scene! Resto Bruce offers a charming atmosphere for a delightful dinner. The drink & scotch menu is impressive, pairing perfectly with their curated traditional dishes, each with a modern twist. The staff were welcoming & the service was top notch. The food was great, our entire table couldn't stop raving about their selections long after our visit. A definite must try!

The blood pudding & haggis-dishes that can traditionally be intimidating-were done to perfection & proved approachable for anyone.

Great service, great staff everything was great
. However the food is extremely overpriced. The Sunday roast for 55$ is ridiculous. Mostly side dishes & 2 thin slices of roast. A lovely experience that was brought down by an absurd price. I understand that margins are low & that it's difficult, but this just felt like completely unfair portion for what is supposed to be a special menu. There is no restaurant I have ever gone to where I left hungry after spending 50$. Unfortunately will not be coming back
