With pizza toni just a few doors down, both spots have consistent customers & equal competition. This one may be my new favourite in Montreal though. The crust was DELICIOUS. You can really taste the sourdough & the flavour in the bread. No need for dip. I love a saucy pizza & that was exactly what this was. Super saucy, good amount of dough while still being crunchy & chewy. My favourite was the Rossa. The anchovies really picked up the flavour of the rose sauce. After one slice, I wanted another one right away. Still craving it to this day…
Pizza was okay, we found the crust extremely salty!
However the best one i tried was the pear pizza.
Also its a sauna in there, so if weather permits you're better off eating outside!
Was good but not worth the hype..
Ordered a large pepperoni (only one size is offered for delivery) & the home made ranch. 1st time trying Crosta.
The best parts: the CRUST. Just the right thinness, it's airy, & has the perfect cook. The pepperoni was nicely cupped & there was a generous amount. Good amount of sauce, not to much, not too little & just the right amount of cheese.
What could be improved: It was so incredibly salty, even for a pepperoni pizza which is expected. I could barely enjoy 1 slice. I'm not sure but I think the type of cheese used in this particular pizza is contributing to the extra saltiness. There wasn't enough hot honey.
The ranch: (creme aux fines herbes). Tastes like horseradish to me (although I don't know if there's any in the ranch). I would've preferred to have the choice of choosing a plain ranch.
Overall, I wouldn't order the pepperoni again because of the salt. But I would definitely try different types of slices on site next time.
This place is definitely worth a try for the amazing crust alone.
Side note: I asked for half pepperoni, half cheese in the order notes, & paid for the more expensive pizza, but they don't seem to take special orders or don't seem to check the notes because the entire thing was pepperoni.
I'll start by saying that I'm a professional hater & I was genuinely ready to be underwhelmed by this place because of how viral it has gone on social media & people lining up like they've never seen food before for the gram.
This was the best dough I've had on a NY style pizza here in Montreal & possibly ever. Great structure to the undercarriage, thin, crispy, great crust with great flavor, no flop etc. That being said flavor-wise for the slice as a whole I was not blown away. I only tried the Rossa, Potato & Spinach slices so keep that in mind I have not tried the cheese slice or the Nduja pie. The Rossa was my least favorite the anchovy paste just didn't work for any of us it was way too funky & sour. The potato & spinach slices were very good & I'd get them again but they didn't punch me in the face like I wouldn't necessarily crave them.
Welldun is still my favorite pizza in town & they got upper hand when it comes to the flavors on their margherita & vodka pizzas BUT Crosta definitely has a better crust & dough & that dough alone is 5 stars worthy. I'll come back at some point to try the cheese slice & nduja pie & update this review then. I drove from outside Montreal to come try this & it was worth the drive.
Pizzeria Crosta was a great find! The pizzas were delicious, with a perfectly baked crust, flavorful sauce, & fresh toppings. Everything tasted well prepared, & the combinations were simple but really satisfying.
It's a great spot for anyone looking for quality pizza in Montréal. We really enjoyed our meal & would definitely come back to try more from the menu!
Excellent Pizza ! Thin & Crusty.
I tried the Rosa & the Pepperoni, loved the hot honey & Parmesan on the Pepperoni, the Rosa had a little kick to it ! Loved em both. The dipping sauce was good but the pizza is already flavorful as it it !
I would recommend it for a quick bite.
Don't believe the hype. The crust is good, the slow fermentation makes for a crisp texture & complex sour flavours. The red sauce is okay, tastes very fresh, but is uncooked & its sourness is overwhelming when paired with the thin levain crust.
Potato pizza was underwhelming, surprisingly sparse potato coverage, crème fraiche sauce thin & sour, bacon jam was very sweet but was clumped in one area per slice, it's a bit much when bitten into. Not bad pizza, but certainly not worth the price.
Expect to wait a while until the hype dies down or they streamline their ordering processes.
Was excited to try this new pizza place in Mile End. Was disappointed, for the price it was nothing great. Pizza sits on the counter then heated up in a toaster oven. Tomato sauce had no taste cheese was scarce, the crust was OK but over cooked it tasted bitter. Very bland flavors. I think ill find better pizza in Little Italy.
Crust was good, definitely the highlight. Ranch was fresh. Pizza was good but not to the point that i am craving to come back again any time soon
By far the best pizza in Montreal. Fresh ingredients, perfect crust, & excellent service. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
