I said many months ago there is room for a second pizza parlour on Saint Viateur & I was not referring to the previous S&S establishment. Finally Crosta's is giving PT down the street the needed competition for choice & share of the wealth.
I walked in for the first time last Friday, great vibe atmosphere & motivated smiling staff.
I ordered 2 pepperoni slices. Waited 10 mins & noticed on the slices they grated on the I believe was Parmesan cheese. I thought wow nice touch Then the taste test
I bit into it & I can tell you I sprung for lots of bottled water
It was way too salty for my taste & me health Maybe because I'm a senior maybe the teenagers can handle it but it was too much. Born & raised in this area for over 65 years & frequenting all establishments seeing them come & go, I wonder if they will maintain the foot traffic customers, besides Uber Eats. My local buddies inform PT upped their quality.
Huh ? Good luck to Crosta's they deserve a slice of the action.
Ordered a large pepperoni (only one size is offered for delivery) & the home made ranch. 1st time trying Crosta.
The best parts: the CRUST. Just the right thinness, it's airy, & has the perfect cook. The pepperoni was nicely cupped & there was a generous amount. Good amount of sauce, not to much, not too little & just the right amount of cheese.
What could be improved: It was so incredibly salty, even for a pepperoni pizza which is expected. I could barely enjoy 1 slice. I'm not sure but I think the type of cheese used in this particular pizza is contributing to the extra saltiness. There wasn't enough hot honey.
The ranch: (creme aux fines herbes). Tastes like horseradish to me (although I don't know if there's any in the ranch). I would've preferred to have the choice of choosing a plain ranch.
Overall, I wouldn't order the pepperoni again because of the salt. But I would definitely try different types of slices on site next time.
This place is definitely worth a try for the amazing crust alone.
Side note: I asked for half pepperoni, half cheese in the order notes, & paid for the more expensive pizza, but they don't seem to take special orders or don't seem to check the notes because the entire thing was pepperoni.
I'll start by saying that I'm a professional hater & I was genuinely ready to be underwhelmed by this place because of how viral it has gone on social media & people lining up like they've never seen food before for the gram.
This was the best dough I've had on a NY style pizza here in Montreal & possibly ever. Great structure to the undercarriage, thin, crispy, great crust with great flavor, no flop etc. That being said flavor-wise for the slice as a whole I was not blown away. I only tried the Rossa, Potato & Spinach slices so keep that in mind I have not tried the cheese slice or the Nduja pie. The Rossa was my least favorite the anchovy paste just didn't work for any of us it was way too funky & sour. The potato & spinach slices were very good & I'd get them again but they didn't punch me in the face like I wouldn't necessarily crave them.
Welldun is still my favorite pizza in town & they got upper hand when it comes to the flavors on their margherita & vodka pizzas BUT Crosta definitely has a better crust & dough & that dough alone is 5 stars worthy. I'll come back at some point to try the cheese slice & nduja pie & update this review then. I drove from outside Montreal to come try this & it was worth the drive.
Was so so excited to try Crosta!
I got pepperoni, potato & rosa. Was so so excited to try flavours that were out of my comfort zone (potato & rosa), & unfortunately they kind of fell flat. Just not my favourite personally, but I could see someone else really enjoying them.
Pepperoni was super good with the hot honey addition! Just thought it would be fresher.
If I'm in the area again, I would maybe go back simply for the pepperoni. & I would maybe try the plain cheese!
Was excited to try this new pizza place in Mile End. Was disappointed, for the price it was nothing great. Pizza sits on the counter then heated up in a toaster oven. Tomato sauce had no taste cheese was scarce, the crust was OK but over cooked it tasted bitter. Very bland flavors. I think ill find better pizza in Little Italy.
Unfortunately, I don't like giving negative reviews, but I was disappointed with slice of pizza I ate. I kepted it simple I took the tomato cheese, you can't go wrong, right? It was one of the least desired slices of pizza I've had in the city, by far. The dough was tasteless with an uncooked bottom, top was fine, ingredients were ok. I've eaten a lot of pizza slices of all kinds from the west coast to the east coast. I love a good NY slice! When it's done properly. I was looking forward to a nice sour dough slice, but got something that fell flat. You gotta bring your a game! If you want to compete with the city's best. You still have time. 6.5/10. 😊
Great pizza. It's an nyc ceres dupe, even the prices are similar. $44 for a cheese pie. I definitely want to try the nduja pie next
I would give the pizza a 7/10 for this style. The pizza was slightly too thin (when it too thin the pizza becomes a chip) & part of the pizza was too thin
The sauces are great definitely get the ranch (10/10) for it.
The crust of the pizza makes you taste the sourdough which was the highlight for me .
Got 3 slices (spinach, Rosa & cheese)
1- spinach topping & slice was really good 8/10
2- cheese was a disappointment for being too thin & sauce was the Savior (6.5/10)
3- Rosa was really good but again the spice was to thin & burnt on the middle so (7/10)
The absolute best pizza in Montreal. Hands down! I love the fact that it's sourdough. I felt great after eating it! & you can taste how amazing the ingredients are compared to the pre made ingredients all the other places use. I love that they use only extra virgin olive oil & grass fed cheese! & you can taste how amazing the tomatoes are. I tried a slice of each & they're all so unique & all equally incredible. The potato one is to die for & the nduja one is my favourite! I went to new york & had ceres & for me this beat it by a landslide. Hats off to the chef! You can see the passion & talent that he has! There is a reason why this place is booming & the most talked about place right now! Its only been open a week & have had it multiple times. & i will continue to support such a great place! I wish i could rate it higher than 10/10! Its by far a 20/10! This is definitely Michelin star worthy! They will be on the Michelin guide for sure
