⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐? re-visit 2026 QA check 🙏
One of the Best Ph? Experiences in Montreal Chinatown

Pho Bang New York never disappoints. I ordered the ph? ??c bi?t (large), & it was outstanding from the first sip to the last bite.

The broth is crystal clear, deeply aromatic, & perfectly balanced-rich without being heavy. The bowl was generously loaded with a variety of tender beef cuts, silky rice noodles, & topped with fresh onions, cilantro, & green onions. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, & prepared with care. The large size is truly satisfying & great value for the price.

Served piping hot with a fresh plate of basil & bean sprouts, the ph? arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Service was efficient & professional, exactly what you want when you're craving real Vietnamese comfort food.

If you're in Montreal's Chinatown & want authentic, no-frills, high-quality ph?, this is the place. The ph? ??c bi?t l?n here is a must-order.

Highly recommended.

All gluten free rice noodles! The broth was alright, decent meat serving size. They only take debit, or cash (USD or CAD). Slight unfavorable exchange rate. For a place this popular I would expect them to set up a Credit card system.

I've been to Pho Bang New York a couple of times for lunch, & it's always a satisfying stop in Chinatown.
The pho comes out quickly, the broth is flavourful, & the portions are generous enough to keep you full for the rest of the afternoon. Service is efficient even when the restaurant is busy, & the menu has plenty of classic options to choose from. A reliable place for a warm, comforting bowl of pho in the heart of Montreal's Chinatown.

Definitely over hyped. The staff are nice though. Broth is very light & not much flavor. The place is packed & you're sitting really close to people you don't know.

I had an outstanding meal at this pho restaurant! The broth was unbelievably rich & flavorful-comforting, aromatic, & clearly made with care. The noodles were perfectly cooked, & the portions of meat were generous & tender. Every bite tasted fresh & authentic.

The critics are haters.

Pho had the best ratio of beef/noodles/broth I've had at any pho restaurant that's well known in toronto/abroad.

Broth was delicious & service was fast, efficient & they checked on me even though it was busy. & a solid tea in the pot 👌 handily 5 stars.

Yesterday, after a 4+ hour event at Palais des Congrès, my two daughters & I - third-time visitors - headed to this restaurant for a quick bite. We've ordered large pho bowls before & couldn't finish them. I'd eaten late lunch, wasn't very hungry, & hate wasting food. So this time: one large bowl, one small bowl, & fresh spring rolls to share.
The older male server immediately asked:

'Are you sharing?'

I thought he was offering an extra empty bowl (standard practice elsewhere), so I said'Yes.'
His response?

'NO SHARING ALLOWED. Everyone must order their own bowl of pho.'

Excuse me? I said I'd eat the spring rolls & help my kids if they couldn't finish. My daughters - who were excited minutes earlier - instantly went quiet, faces dark. I asked:

'Do you still want to eat here?'

Silence. I grabbed my bag & we walked out.
We are PAYING CUSTOMERS. I decide how we eat. Sharing with my own children is not a crime. This isn't a prison cafeteria - it's a restaurant. In Canada. In 2025.
We crossed the street to Henan Huimian - warm service, delicious food, zero attitude. My money is spent happily there.
I told my older daughter:

'We pay for food & service. If it feels wrong, we leave. Power isn't given - it's taken.'

She asked,'Would they say this to white customers?'
I said,'No.' & she knew it was true.
This isn't about pho. It's about respect.
This isn't about portion control. It's about control.
To the owner:
If you don't want families, don't want sharing, don't want kindness - just say you only serve solo diners who pay cash & worship your overpriced broth. Close the doors. The 90s called - they want their outdated policies back.
To everyone else:

You've seen the comments.
You've felt the cold stares.
You've paid $18 for a bowl & left angry.

Stop going.
Your wallet is your vote.
We're done enabling bad service disguised as'policy.'

Walked in, held up fingers for how many in our party, & we were seated right away. Tables are two-tops pushed together depending on group size-efficient, no-nonsense setup.

The beef in the pho was excellent-tender, well-cooked-but the broth was forgettable. Not bad, just didn't stand out. My son's chicken & rice plate was clean & filling, but so neutral it could've come from half a dozen different places. No standout seasoning, no distinct flavor.

Cash only, but they did take U.S. dollars & even gave a small discount-so that was a pleasant surprise.

Fast service, decent prices, no big complaints-but nothing special either. If you're nearby & hungry, it'll do. But if you're chasing top-tier pho in Montréal, this isn't the destination.

Delicious Pho & spring rolls. Had a small Pho Tai & it was the perfect size for me. The broth was light but so full of flavor, the sprouts & garnishes were super crisp. The lime was extra juicy. Everything was just so fresh & yummy. Perfect for a rainy day, will definitely be back 👍🏻

Stopped by on a road trip to Montreal, felt like a popular spot in Chinatown. The service was friendly enough, I realize they were busy for dinner.

We got the chicken & minced pork vermicelli, chicken tonkinese soup/pho, & vegetable vermicelli. The portions & prices were reasonable. The pho broth was flavourful & rich!

Will definitely be coming back!

I've been to Pho Bang NY 5 times in total & I'll say this, their Pho is off the charts. It's amazing when it's fresh. It has all the perfect blends of flavors & you get it right quick, which means it's piping hot, just the way I like it!

Now the last 3 times a went I wanted the spicy noodle soup, Bun Bo Hu, something I've always wanted to try. Every time I went, until yesterday, they ran out because it's a weekly special. So you can imagine how excited I was when he said they still had some.

Well let me tell you it was the exact opposite of what I would normally get.

They essentially gave me a HUGE BOWL OF TEPID BATHWATER. It was the most bland beef broth with oxtail & flank steak. There was barely any seasoning & no coriander. But the worst part is it's suppose to be SPICY NOODLE SOUP. There was no chili in it at all.

It virtually tasted like eating warm canned consume. I just can't see myself going back after getting served that. It was like they decided to serve me anything because they just wanted my business that day. Normally I'd consider it a one off thing & talk to the server about it but he just disappeared after serving us.

It's really sad because it was really a nice thing to look forward to every second week. I love Pho & now I have to find a new spot.

If you're from Montreal, you know this is one of the top three pho spots-I'm talking about the broth, which is the most important part of a good pho.

They serve big portions for the price, & the food is fresh & flavorful. Just a heads-up: if you go during rush hour, expect a long lineup. But overall, the place is clean, service is fast, & the pho is definitely worth it

We choose pho for dinner. It was so good. The broth rich but not too bold suitable with the spices..i will recommend if the weather cold that would be perfect 😄✌️

I used to come here often but my recent trip was somewhat disappointing. Food came out super fast which was great. However, I found the pho broth salty & my partner's rice was overcooked (mushy). The flavour of the lemongrass beef was amazing though & the imperial rolls were good too. We had to signal several times for water & cutlery & got a hand dismissing us at one point. If you're in the area & want good Vietnamese I would come here but do not go out of your way when there are so many other places around the city.

I am from NYC & love this restaurant. More importantly, my kids love this restaurant. This restaurant introduced my kids to Vietnamese food. We went two years in a row. I had #15 Grilled beef, my son #14 Beef & Chicken, my wife the Pho, daughter noodles & broth. All was good.

Besides the inconvenience of accepting only cash, this is one of the best pho. Out of all the pho restaurants, I came back to this place the most. The the broth & the beef are simply amazing. A hot bowl of delicious soup during winter is the best remedy against the Montreal cold. Recently I realised that no.33 vermicelle with grilled beef is exactly what I was looking for when its not cold enough for pho. The beef is deliciously grilled, you can taste the marinate running deep into the beef. Perfect for summer.
