One of the Best Ph? Experiences in Montreal Chinatown
Pho Bang New York never disappoints. I ordered the ph? ??c bi?t (large), & it was outstanding from the first sip to the last bite.
The broth is crystal clear, deeply aromatic, & perfectly balanced-rich without being heavy. The bowl was generously loaded with a variety of tender beef cuts, silky rice noodles, & topped with fresh onions, cilantro, & green onions. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, & prepared with care. The large size is truly satisfying & great value for the price.
Served piping hot with a fresh plate of basil & bean sprouts, the ph? arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Service was efficient & professional, exactly what you want when you're craving real Vietnamese comfort food.
If you're in Montreal's Chinatown & want authentic, no-frills, high-quality ph?, this is the place. The ph? ??c bi?t l?n here is a must-order.
Highly recommended.
I've been to Pho Bang New York a couple of times for lunch, & it's always a satisfying stop in Chinatown.
The pho comes out quickly, the broth is flavourful, & the portions are generous enough to keep you full for the rest of the afternoon. Service is efficient even when the restaurant is busy, & the menu has plenty of classic options to choose from. A reliable place for a warm, comforting bowl of pho in the heart of Montreal's Chinatown.
A classic for Pho. Strongly recommend. Quick service so even if there is lineup, it goes quick.
It gets really busy.
The critics are haters.
Pho had the best ratio of beef/noodles/broth I've had at any pho restaurant that's well known in toronto/abroad.
Broth was delicious & service was fast, efficient & they checked on me even though it was busy. & a solid tea in the pot 👌 handily 5 stars.
We got into town late & went here because it was close to our hotel. They were busy so we decided to get an order to go. The wait staff took our order & it was ready in less than 10 minutes. The food was great. They only take cash. They do accept US dollars & even give you the going exchange rate. Prices were reasonable.
Tried their No.1 signature raw beef & tripe pho with beef balls - absolutely spot on. The dry pho with marinated beef is also a must-try, packed with flavor. This place is always busy (which is a good sign!) & it's cash only, so come prepared.
The taste is authentic & satisfying, but the service could be friendlier. Still, for the quality of the food, it's worth a visit if you're in Montreal's Chinatown.
I have been coming here since they used to be a smaller spot a few doors away on the corner of St Laurent & Viger. The food hasn't changed. It's still delicious, fresh, & really well priced. It may be busy, & you may have to wait in line, but it's always reasuring to eat in a place with constant turnover. If you are in Chinatown in Montreal, you have to eat at the Schwartz's of Pho.
Stopped by on a road trip to Montreal, felt like a popular spot in Chinatown. The service was friendly enough, I realize they were busy for dinner.
We got the chicken & minced pork vermicelli, chicken tonkinese soup/pho, & vegetable vermicelli. The portions & prices were reasonable. The pho broth was flavourful & rich!
Will definitely be coming back!
Was debating between this spot & a pub nearby. So glad we went with Pho Bang New York. Was super busy when we showed up & knew it was gonna be amazing right away. Got the grilled chicken & beef & it came in less than 15 minutes. Server was friendly & vibes were up. 10/10 recommend & would come back if i'm ever in MTL again
It was a cool October Montreal day & we wanted some Pho to warm us up after several hours of sight seeing. The menu had great selection but 3 of us ordered the #1 (special Pho) & the 4th ordered the #42 (shrimp & vegetable Pho). It was super busy & lined up around lunch but tables turn over quickly & we were seated after about 15 mins. The Pho was pretty average. However the service was a bit below par. One of our group wanted a fork & we had to ask no less than 4 times for one. Also, we wanted a tea pot refill & they took away the pot but never returned it until we skied them twice. Pricing was fair for what you got with most dishes around $15. Note they only accept cash so make sure you bring $ or you can always use the ATM next to the till for an exorbitant fee 😆
Food tasted great! My wife had the pho & I had the grilled pork & shrimp with rice. Servers were busy, not really approachable, but attention to small details.
If you are a carnivore you WILL love this, but if you are Bun Bo Hue fans, you won't.... Came here on a Friday where this dish is only on 3 days--Friday, Sat & Sun. The place was hopping busy. The entire time I was there & when I left people kept coming. By comparison the Pho Bac across the street which has slightly higher rating on Google was mostly empty when I passed by. Anyway I've eaten plenty of Bun Bo Hue including some in Hue, Central Vietnam, the version here is absolutely nothing like what I had before. Typically this dish commonly found ingredients are pigs blood & knuckle, tendon sometimes, special spices etc. Here's it's just sliced beef brisket, oxtails & beef shanks (& lots & lots of it). Don't get me wrong the aroma, flavor & taste were excellent but it more resembles like a spicier pho dac biet than BBH. Though I initially really enjoyed my dish which at 17+CAD was very good value but towards the end I felt like the guy from BeardMeats Food trying to finish an enormous dish. This is the only time I didn't finish the meat in ANY Vietnamese restaurants. As tender as the shanks were, it's just too much. See photo.
Overall a very good experience. I ordered the weekend special noodle & it was excellent. They gave me plenty of meat & it was very fresh! Wish they gave me more noodles but it's fine. I ordered extra portion so there is that. Service could be better here but as is the case in many Asian restaurants that are busy, YOU NEED TO BE LOUD!
Always busy due to many customers. Always the best Pho in MTL. Always, they did not give me any disappointment. If you want Pho, I powefully recommend here. I will be here in near future again. :)
We were there on a Sunday for lunch, it was crowded & very busy, the portions were actually quite large, but the taste of the food was not impressive at all & it was rather average. A very serious disadvantage is the possibility of paying only in cash. Overall - in my opinion, the place is overrated.
