Pho Bang New York is a busy Chinatown staple in Montreal, praised for its authentic pho with a clear, aromatic broth, generous beef and noodle portions, and value that keeps customers coming back. The experience is often fast and efficient, even when the room is crowded, and staff can be multilingual, but reviews note that the space is compact and lines can be long. A persistent caveat is the cash only policy, with an on-site ATM and occasional complaints about the lack of receipts or card options, which some diners find inconvenient. Flavor and consistency vary by visit, with many calling it among the best pho in the city while others feel seasoning or heat can fall short at times, though weekend specials like ox tail soup add variety. Overall the restaurant is seen as a dependable, no-frills option for a hearty, affordable bowl of Vietnamese comfort in Chinatown, drawing loyal fans who appreciate reliable portions and quick service.

One of the Best Ph? Experiences in Montreal Chinatown
Pho Bang New York never disappoints. I ordered the ph? ??c bi?t (large), & it was outstanding from the first sip to the last bite.
The broth is crystal clear, deeply aromatic, & perfectly balanced-rich without being heavy. The bowl was generously loaded with a variety of tender beef cuts, silky rice noodles, & topped with fresh onions, cilantro, & green onions. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, & prepared with care. The large size is truly satisfying & great value for the price.
Served piping hot with a fresh plate of basil & bean sprouts, the ph? arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Service was efficient & professional, exactly what you want when you're craving real Vietnamese comfort food.
If you're in Montreal's Chinatown & want authentic, no-frills, high-quality ph?, this is the place. The ph? ??c bi?t l?n here is a must-order.
I've been to Pho Bang New York a couple of times for lunch, & it's always a satisfying stop in Chinatown.
The pho comes out quickly, the broth is flavourful, & the portions are generous enough to keep you full for the rest of the afternoon. Service is efficient even when the restaurant is busy, & the menu has plenty of classic options to choose from. A reliable place for a warm, comforting bowl of pho in the heart of Montreal's Chinatown.
Tried their No.1 signature raw beef & tripe pho with beef balls - absolutely spot on. The dry pho with marinated beef is also a must-try, packed with flavor. This place is always busy (which is a good sign!) & it's cash only, so come prepared.
The taste is authentic & satisfying, but the service could be friendlier. Still, for the quality of the food, it's worth a visit if you're in Montreal's Chinatown.
I have been coming here since they used to be a smaller spot a few doors away on the corner of St Laurent & Viger. The food hasn't changed. It's still delicious, fresh, & really well priced. It may be busy, & you may have to wait in line, but it's always reasuring to eat in a place with constant turnover. If you are in Chinatown in Montreal, you have to eat at the Schwartz's of Pho.
Stopped by on a road trip to Montreal, felt like a popular spot in Chinatown. The service was friendly enough, I realize they were busy for dinner.
We got the chicken & minced pork vermicelli, chicken tonkinese soup/pho, & vegetable vermicelli. The portions & prices were reasonable. The pho broth was flavourful & rich!
I love this Pho place. The price is right, the portions are big & the service is one of the fastest in town. The pho is delicious & the spicy weekend special pho is even better. I almost never have to wait for a table. One of the best spots in Chinatown imo. They have been accommodating of my food restrictions, which I appreciate a lot.
Please note they only take cash but they have an ATM next to the area where you go to pay.

Pho Bang New York is hands down the best spot for authentic Vietnamese pho in Chinatown. As a loyal customer for the past three years, I can confidently say that their quality never wavers-every visit delivers the same delicious, consistent flavors that keep me coming back.
One thing to note is that it's a cash-only establishment, but they do have an ATM inside for convenience (just be aware of the small service fee). Despite this minor inconvenience, the fantastic food & reliable experience make it well worth it.
If you're looking for a no-frills, dependable pho spot in Chinatown, Pho Bang New York is the place to go!
Good average pho place, nothing spectacular, but decent. Typical chinatown service. I kinda like the hectic atmosphere, not for everyone but I lived in chinatown in hawaii for many years so it felt kinda homey. Cash only place so be prepared with a few queen elizabeths in your wallet.

Good Vietnamese restaurant located in chinatown. Food tastes amazing! We tried few dishes & really love it. The grilled beef on vermicelli & the spring rolls are really good. Feel like eating in Vietnam. The atmosphere is ok. The service is ok. Weve been there few times. But they only accept cash which u should be prepared. But if u dont there is an atm machine.
