One of the Best Ph? Experiences in Montreal Chinatown
Pho Bang New York never disappoints. I ordered the ph? ??c bi?t (large), & it was outstanding from the first sip to the last bite.
The broth is crystal clear, deeply aromatic, & perfectly balanced-rich without being heavy. The bowl was generously loaded with a variety of tender beef cuts, silky rice noodles, & topped with fresh onions, cilantro, & green onions. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, & prepared with care. The large size is truly satisfying & great value for the price.
Served piping hot with a fresh plate of basil & bean sprouts, the ph? arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Service was efficient & professional, exactly what you want when you're craving real Vietnamese comfort food.
If you're in Montreal's Chinatown & want authentic, no-frills, high-quality ph?, this is the place. The ph? ??c bi?t l?n here is a must-order.
Highly recommended.
After 9 years I went back to this fabulous Vietnamese restaurant, very delicious.
This is clearly a'favourite' spot for many Montrealers & the whole restaurant has made fast service of good Vietnamese food a science. Menus are extensively illustrated with numbered item, staff manages to be efficient without being rude, & food is delivered rapidly & not only looks appetizing but tastes good.
Prices are quite decent & while the place can get crowded & noisy, you still get a good table experience.
price to size is ok; broth is so-so, meat portion is good ; Friday they got a special menu, it is not Vietnamese pho;
you have to tips & they write for you, you have no choice, I paid by cash;
toilet is underground
So far, the best Vietnamese food I had in Montreal! Their noodle grilled chicken 🍲 soup is 👌 👍. Their grilled beef + chicken +rice is a MUST try 🤪. Give it a try 👌.
Prices are fairly well.
All in all: Quality 👍, price 👍.
This is my spot & will be in my monthly to go list!
Just keep in mind: no credit card, no debit, only Cash!
The best PHO / Vietnamese food I've had. The look is very low end with a cafeteria like feel & crammed in tables & there is often a lineup to get it. Service is very fast & quality is great. I have been going here & to their old location that was in a now destroyed building across the street since October 2000 - 25years & it is still the same owner & it's been the same waiters for over 10years!
Pho Bang New York is hands down the best spot for authentic Vietnamese pho in Chinatown. As a loyal customer for the past three years, I can confidently say that their quality never wavers-every visit delivers the same delicious, consistent flavors that keep me coming back.
One thing to note is that it's a cash-only establishment, but they do have an ATM inside for convenience (just be aware of the small service fee). Despite this minor inconvenience, the fantastic food & reliable experience make it well worth it.
If you're looking for a no-frills, dependable pho spot in Chinatown, Pho Bang New York is the place to go!
This restaurant is very accessible to downtown as it is in... well, downtown Montreal. The service between the waiters & my family were superb, & the wait time varied between 6 minutes to 9 minutes. The food overall tasted amazing, not too heavy on the salt, & not too dull of a taste. The Vietnamese tang is inside the dishes, & prepared with a Western taste as well. The price for the dishes were overall fair (average of 17 dollars per dish), & there is a working bathroom.
I used to come here often but my recent trip was somewhat disappointing. Food came out super fast which was great. However, I found the pho broth salty & my partner's rice was overcooked (mushy). The flavour of the lemongrass beef was amazing though & the imperial rolls were good too. We had to signal several times for water & cutlery & got a hand dismissing us at one point. If you're in the area & want good Vietnamese I would come here but do not go out of your way when there are so many other places around the city.
I am from NYC & love this restaurant. More importantly, my kids love this restaurant. This restaurant introduced my kids to Vietnamese food. We went two years in a row. I had #15 Grilled beef, my son #14 Beef & Chicken, my wife the Pho, daughter noodles & broth. All was good.
If you are a carnivore you WILL love this, but if you are Bun Bo Hue fans, you won't.... Came here on a Friday where this dish is only on 3 days--Friday, Sat & Sun. The place was hopping busy. The entire time I was there & when I left people kept coming. By comparison the Pho Bac across the street which has slightly higher rating on Google was mostly empty when I passed by. Anyway I've eaten plenty of Bun Bo Hue including some in Hue, Central Vietnam, the version here is absolutely nothing like what I had before. Typically this dish commonly found ingredients are pigs blood & knuckle, tendon sometimes, special spices etc. Here's it's just sliced beef brisket, oxtails & beef shanks (& lots & lots of it). Don't get me wrong the aroma, flavor & taste were excellent but it more resembles like a spicier pho dac biet than BBH. Though I initially really enjoyed my dish which at 17+CAD was very good value but towards the end I felt like the guy from BeardMeats Food trying to finish an enormous dish. This is the only time I didn't finish the meat in ANY Vietnamese restaurants. As tender as the shanks were, it's just too much. See photo.
My son had a craving for Pho so we got a recommendation from our walking tour guide. I was skeptical but hey, why not? Pleasantly surprised the food was better than expected. My party had Pho & I had the Bún Bò Huế. Both were good & hit the spot. Surprisingly they provided sufficient amounts of meat but a little on the low side of noodles. This is the opposite in the US where they provide little meat & lots of noodles. Overall, highly recommend this place if you want a quick fix of Pho & other Vietnamese dishes. Prices are reasonable as well.
Good Vietnamese restaurant located in chinatown. Food tastes amazing! We tried few dishes & really love it. The grilled beef on vermicelli & the spring rolls are really good. Feel like eating in Vietnam. The atmosphere is ok. The service is ok. Weve been there few times. But they only accept cash which u should be prepared. But if u dont there is an atm machine.
Our go-to Vietnamese restaurant every time in Montreal. The pho is very tasty, the spring roll is also nice & fresh!! There are 6 of us & they vacant a reserved table for us! Very nice service!!
The best pho I have ever eaten! The place is full of people but the service takes care of clients' rotation well, so there is always a chance to find a spot. Portions are big, filling, full of taste &, compared to other places, cheap. I recommend the drink with beans & coconut milk - it's simply the best! I can honestly say that's my favorite Vietnamese restaurant & will pay a visit during my next trip to Montreal!
