Busy Chinese noodle shop with a cozy interior dishing up housemade hand stretched noodles in a variety of broths, Lan Zhou style. Directly across from McGill university. Delivery by Uber.
Nouilles Zhonghua is widely described as a small, bustling spot where fresh hand-pulled noodles and flavorful broths shine, with generous portions at a fair price, and the experience often feels like a lively workshop with noodles made in front of customers. The space is compact and frequently crowded, leading to short wait times and communal or shared tables during peak hours, while service is generally fast and friendly though occasionally uneven. The menu highlights allow choosing broth, noodle width, and portion size, and standout items like the Lanzhou beef noodle soup and the Chinese hamburger receive frequent praise for authenticity and depth of flavor. Overall the place is seen as a must-visit for a quick, affordable, satisfying meal, especially on cold days, though a few notes mention a salty broth, limited seating, and a busy, noisy environment.
A hot spot for McGill students, locals, & tourists! Nouilles Zhonghua is an incredible hole in the wall restaurant serving authentic hand-pulled noodles. In typical fashion, you can watch the expert craftsmanship of your noodles & various dishes live. The interior is really small, so don't be surprised when you're seated directly next to strangers. The menu doesn't have too many different options, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything based on what we had.
We got the beef noodle with Chinese pickled cabbage & two Chinese hamburgers. The food comes out rapidly & steaming hot. We just got the thinnest noodle style (mo xi), but you are able to choose up to seven different styles. The noodles were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of bite & chewiness. There was a good amount of beef & pickled veggies all imbibed with the hearty stew. The Chinese hamburgers were also very tasty. The buns were crispy & filled to the brim with savory, juicy pork meat.
Nouilles Zhonghua is the perfect place for a cold day & a quick, no-frills meal!
delicious hand-pulled noodle restaurant! It seems like it's always very busy so expect to wait & share a table. I got a small beef soup, which was the perfect portion for a late lunch, but I'd probably recommend the medium! As a visitor to Montreal, this was a perfect first meal on a chilly day.

Update: went back & tried their standard beef noodle soup. The noodles were soft & pasty due to not being worked enough. This is a common'shortcut' restaurants take to save on Labor costs & get prep done faster. I ended up throwing out most of the noodles in my takeout order, which means I didn't eat much.
Unfortunately it is also a serious fault. In China the noodles are chewy because they are expected to be so. Soft noodles in this style are unacceptable.
The broth was also very, very bland. I've had way more flavorful vegetarian broths.
I might get the other items, but I'd be hesitant to try wheat noodles here again given the low quality & poor texture.
Former 5 star review from last week: Pretty good. Liang pi not the most flavorful, but styles vary & this is solid.
I declined the pork burger but either they misunderstood or didn't care because I got in anyway. I ended up not minding because it didn't taste much like pork & it was delicious. 😋
Had the medium beef noodle soup with a Chinese hamburger. Delicious. The meat was tender, the broth was tasty. Added some additional spice & a bit of soy sauce. Good prices. Better than the popular place in Chinatown.
We visited during lunchtime, & it was pretty busy, so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Luckily, you can place your order while waiting, which was convenient because you barely wait once you sit down. We got the large Special Lanzhou beef noodle combo (19.58 CAD), & even though we were super hungry, it was more than enough to fill us up. The flavors were great, & we really appreciate everything being homemade. Will come back for sure!

Excellent fresh Chinese noodles, made on the spot. The food is of excellent quality, & I really liked the beef. However, for lunch, a place crowded with people, plan to eat at a table with other people. But I'd definitely recommend the restaurant for eat-in or take-away. A great discovery.
Ordered the beef tendon noodle soup & vegetables noodle soup. Food was delicious, large portions, seating inside is small but they do quick takeout as well
Loved the liangpi, beef shank, tofu salad. The service was friendly & attentive. The zha jiang mian was just ok. Would go back to try their noodle soups because the soup that came with the zha jiang mian was super tasty. Nice rich beefy flavours. Cash or debit only. Space is quite small. They had about 5 sets of tables to seat 4 people each.

Really wonderful! Generous portions with generous amounts of beef, delicious broth. The waiter made sure to ask whether I wanted spice, coriander, or green onion. Good vinegar & chili oil available at the table. Some of the best-textured noodles I have had in Canada! The price point was very good for the portion size. No AC though, & just keep in mind that credit payments have an extra surcharge.
Excellent beef noodle soup, the broth is incredibly tasty & the beef portions are always so tender & full of flavor. The service is efficient & the pricing is fair. Perfect for McGill students.

I got myself the spicy beef noodle regular size, loved it, tasty & & the portion is huuge. It's perfect meal to warm you up in cold winter nights. The place is literally a hole in the wall tho, the space is so cramped won't fit your winter coat lol
Oil spill - the best noodles I've ever had! The beef noodles were also incredible. Service is quick & so fun to watch everything be hand made be made in the front window.
ordered the special lanzhou beef noodles. the broth was good & the noodles texture were nice. only giving 3 stars because i felt pressured to give a tip when prompted by the staff although I don’t feel the service was that spectacular.
take note this place doesn’t accept credit card, only debit card.
This place offers the best noodles I ever had in Beijing, Seattle, or anywhere.
The noodles are really chewy. The Xi’an cold noodles were especially tasty. The portion sizes are huge—I always ordered Large Bowl but could barely finish.
Both the Lam Zhou beef noodles & the sour vegetables noodles were as good as any version I had anywhere else: the beef tastes really authentic, just like the ones I used to have in Beijing many years ago.
Even side dishes like cucumbers are good.
Not pricey at all considering the size portion size.
Was there twice in 5 days- would have been there more often.
