Review Summary

Reviews describe Mon Nan as a go to spot for hearty, traditional Chinese fare with large portions and generally friendly service. Dishes such as General Tao chicken, Shanghai noodles, salt and pepper shrimp, ginger lobster, and roasted duck are repeatedly praised for flavor and value, with many noting the option to share multiple dishes and take leftovers home. The atmosphere is often described as welcoming and lively, good for family meals and celebrations, and the menu is viewed as broad enough to satisfy varied tastes. A few visits mention inconsistent service, with moments that feel hurried or impersonal, and some concerns about price versus portion size or timing when dishes arrive at different times. There are occasional remarks about decor updates, cleanliness, and occasional service hiccups, though many reviews highlight friendly staff and quick service. Overall Mon Nan remains a beloved staple for classic Cantonese and Chinese comfort food in Chinatown, with strong favorites that keep regulars returning, while experiences can vary by visit.

Very good chinese food. The go-to place in Montreal for 3-course Beijing duck meal. Great lobster too.

Delicious Chinese food, over 200 varieties with decent pricing & portions. They're known for the pekin duck combo, general tao chicken & salt & pepper shrimp or squid. I ate there for many years & the staff is very friendly. They have alcohol & other seafood such as lobsters, oysters & scallops (seasonal). It accommodates children & adults around a big table up to 11 to 13 people with the classic spinning top to allow you to pick the topping & dish that you like. This is a family & friends restaurant & perfect for people who like to share a variety of foods from sweet, sour, salty or spicy!

Just had my birthday lunch at the restaurant!! We always started with our favourite dish -Peking Duck, which was expertly prepared & served with all the traditional accompaniments. The duck was crispy on the outside & succulent on the inside-absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable throughout our meal. The staff were attentive without being intrusive & were more than happy to accommodate our requests. They were knowledgeable about the menu & offered great recommendations. Overall , amazing experience, all my guests loved the food :)

Great staple of Chinatown. Even if I visit this place only once a year, I'm always looking forward to my visit. The duck is a must. You have to try the salt & pepper tofu (EXTREMELY addictive) & enjoy the jasmine tea served with the meal.

Came here specifically for the Peking duck. Paid extra to have it with the fried noodles & it was worth it. We were a group of four women & one child - in addition to our three course peking, we also ordered fried lobster, water spinach greens & saltfish fried rice. We left no crumbs. Will come again next time I'm in town.
