Review Summary

Mon Nan is widely regarded as a staple in Montreal Chinatown, frequently praised for its extensive menu of authentic, flavorful dishes such as salt and pepper shrimp, General Tao chicken, and Peking duck. While many patrons appreciate the generous portion sizes, efficient service, and welcoming atmosphere perfect for groups, others note that the dining experience can be inconsistent. Opinions on pricing are mixed, with some finding it a great value for the quality and quantity provided, while others perceive it as expensive or note concerns regarding service attentiveness and billing practices. Despite occasional reports of varying service quality, many loyal customers consider it a top-tier destination for consistent and comforting Chinese cuisine.

J'y suis allé la semaine dernière & c'était délicieux! En plus, la serveuse était sympathique. Les lanières de poulet poivre & sel : à essayer!

Such a nice place to have dinner! Everything is top-notch, from the service to the actual food. The place seems a bit hidden from sight from the street, but once you find it, it is a real gem!

The food is actually so good! The best Cantonese style restaurant I've been to in Montreal. We were a bit basic in our order, the Cantonese chow mein, chicken fried rice & orange beef (they put real little pieces of shredded orange peel! Tasty!) Also, the staff are absolutely lovely. Friendly, sociable, & attentive to your needs. They also get along well with each other & are friendly with the customers at the tables, chatting & joking, which made a nice vibe & not always the case at Chinese restaurants where staff are often minimal & efficient, but not more than that. I think they were all in a good mood, which is a good sign in terms of how the restaurant is managed. I felt like the staff went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. The place is a bit hard to see from the road, it's tucked away, so probably why I never noticed the place before now! Will definitely be coming here instead of other similar restaurants in Chinatown from now on

Best Chinese food in Montreal - hands down! It's quite comparable to my hometown (Richmond, BC.. iykyk!) My favourite dishes are: hot & soup soup, the braised beef brisket chow mein, & salt & pepper squid but honestly, everything there is top notch. What makes Mon Nan even better is the quality service! Betty, Rosa, & the rest of the evening staff are super friendly, welcoming, & have become part of our Sunday night tradition.
