It is really rare for me to leave a bad review, but I think people need to adjust their expectations. We do not understand the hype. The food was good but not out of the extraordinary for this price range. The portions were generous, which we liked. The cocktails were uninteresting. They suggested the tasting menu before we even had the time to look at the menu.
We did not enjoy the service : The service was condescending. The margret de canard was quite literally raw. We informed the server & ask if they could do something about it because we both couldn't eat so raw. The server seemed upset & said that this is how it's properly cooked & that it's also how steaks are cooked, & that if we eat steak we should be able to eat this. I don't feel this kind of patriarchal attitude should be served especially at 400$ for 2. They proposed us another take at the duck (which was nice), we ended up turning it down. I thought they were not bringing out anything anymore, but then they did bring out a crudité plate with a few chicken nuggets to replace the duck. We did enjoy it, but it also felt like they were making fun of us for'not knowing what a good meat should taste' (it was children's food albeit gourmet).
We cook duck magrets on the regular & to be honest, it can be buttery without being raw. It's not duck carpaccio. It's okay that there's one piece of meat that is a bit outside of the norm but it felt like it was our fault if we didn't enjoy it. Also I had bad diarrhea immediately after, so…
Our highlight was the scallop sandwich. It was absolutely phenomenal. The other plates seem a bit under salted.
Service is what would make me return. Quite an experience! Excellent explanations & guidance from all servers regarding food & drinks. We enjoyed our meal, however some dishes seemed a bit too salty for our palate. Other than that, I would visit again on future trips to Montreal. We had 5 dishes plus a dessert. This is a good number of dishes for 2 guests dining.

Vin Mon Lapin absolutely lives up to its reputation & every award it has received. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt thoughtful, welcoming, & effortlessly refined. Every dish showcased incredibly fresh, locally sourced ingredients, prepared with flawless technique & a level of creativity that elevated each bite without ever feeling overcomplicated. The menu strikes a perfect balance between innovation & comfort, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine through.
The service was equally impressive. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & genuinely enthusiastic, offering excellent recommendations while making the evening feel relaxed & unhurried. The wine list is exceptional, with an outstanding selection that pairs beautifully with the seasonal menu. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or simply looking for a great glass to complement your meal, there are plenty of fantastic choices.
It's easy to understand why Vin Mon Lapin is consistently recognized as one of Montreal's top dining destinations. Every aspect of the experience, from the food & wine to the service & atmosphere, exceeded our expectations. If you're visiting Montreal or celebrating a special occasion, this is a restaurant that deserves a spot at the top of your list. I would happily return & recommend it without hesitation.
Such a wonderful experience we had fo a Birthday celebration at Vin Mon Lapin. The Birthday girl was delighted.
From making the reservation all the way to dessert everything was marvellous. We had some exquisite wine suggested by our friendly waitress. Food was delicious, tasty, cooked with care, pleasant for the eyes & an explosion of flavors for your taste buds. Atmosphere is pleasant with adequate lightning & smooth music.
Vin Mon Lapin is an absolute must for those in search of a gourmet experience.
In Montreal visiting my brother & we went here for dinner as it's near his house & he's a regular. Probably not surprising one of the single best meals I've had in a decade. Obviously the food / champagne & service were superb but what truly struck me was the PACING. They would bring us a course & then just leave us alone to talk. We were probably there for 3 hours. A truly special experience I will not forget.
