The chef has prepared some incredible dishes. So simple yet so flavourful. They are very unique yet delicious. The service here was also second to none. Very kind & friendly staff. Presentation was on point. Must have in Montreal!
The quality of ingredients here is outstanding. Our group of three ordered several dishes to share, as the portions are on the smaller side. We had the snow crab, scallop French toast, buckwheat cake for dessert, duck breast, & a salad with duck or cow liver. Every dish was exceptional in flavor, making it clear why this restaurant is ranked among the best in Canada. My only wish is that the portions were slightly larger, especially for sharing, considering the price. That said, the wine recommendations from our waitress were excellent. The atmosphere was warm & cozy, & the service was fantastic. I'd definitely return!
Might be so far one of the best places I've eaten at in Montreal? Food is great, service is great, price is surprisingly not expensive for the quality you get. Their dishes are for sharing, so we pretty much ordered 3/4 of their seasonal menu & got to try everything. Surprisingly we liked everything we ordered, which is quite rare. Only downside would be that it's really hard to book a spot as it's very popular. Would definitely go back when there menu changes in the next season. Can't wait!
It was our first time at Vin Mon Lapin & we had a lovely experience! What stood out the most was the excellent service we received from their very sympathetic & knowledgeable staff! As per the staff's recommendation, we tried the tasting menu & we had a coup de coeur for the Couteau de mer sur glace celeri, the Croque-Pétoncle & the Cardeau Cru, Sungolds - Beurre noisette. The wine was insanely good was well! I don't know if the tasting menu was worth it for us (we didn't particularly like the Carrots, the gnocchi & one of the two main dishes) but we still happy we tried it! We'll definitely go back to try other things on the menu!
A modern & innovative restaurant serving French-inspired dishes with a focus on seasonal & local ingredients.
Vin Mon Lapin, ranked #1 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list, is a must-visit spot in Montreal's Little Italy. From start to finish, it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The vibrant atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between youthful energy & refined sophistication. Though the space is cozy, it adds to the charm, & reservations are a must.
We sat at the bar with a clear view of the kitchen, feeling like we were at an intimate dinner party. The service was exceptional, with our friendly server offering wine samples & never rushing us. We opted for the chef's curated tasting menu, paired flawlessly with wines. Every course amazed me, especially the Le Croque-Pétoncle-a scallop sandwich on buttery, garlicky toast-easily the best dish I've ever had. The veal tartare with sun-gold tomatoes, rich Béarnaise-like sauce, & perfectly seared duck breast with foie gras sauce were standout dishes.
The wine pairings elevated the meal, & though I lost track of courses, I couldn't stop savoring each bite. A hidden gem, Mon Lapin offers some of the finest French/Italian-inspired food in Montreal. Don't miss it-put it on your restaurant list to visit, & you won't be disappointed.
Great place to relax & grab some shareable food (starters or dishes) with your party. The food & ingredients are original & well balanced with some mixed French & Italian flavor spirit & the dressing is fancy. You have a nice range of wine to choose from per glass or whole bottle. Overall a good experience.
A top tier dining experience. Ate at the bar & was well taken of by the excellent staff. Dishes & execution are world class with a such a casual vibe, very special evening.
An exceptional dining experience! After a long wait for a reservation at Mon Lapin, I can confidently say it was well worth it. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was warm & inviting, & the service was top-notch. The ever-changing menu adds an element of surprise, making me eager to return & explore more of their creative dishes.
Live in Montreal, I feel so proud that a restaurant from my city ranks number 1 in the Canadian top restaurants list. When I stepped in, I was quite surprised to be honest, because it looks like it could be any other community restaurant in Montreal, or even less "chic"or "luxury" than many of them. I have a very good feeling about it because it means that more people would have chance to taste the food since the price is just fair or even less than many other restaurants. I ordered the razor clam, beef tartare, gnocchi with ricotta filling & turnip, duck breast & striped bass. the cold dishes are really good, very original & fresh. the hot dishes I would say need a bit more breakthrough from ordinary versions.
Although all dishes were good, I think the only one which blew me away & I find myself reminiscing about is the buckwheat cake. There is truly something so unique & special with how balanced it is in terms of sweetness, but also its play with textures, & uniqueness compared to other dessert offerings. The wine selection was also really good. We used the opportunity to sample several wines by the glass. In this regard my highlight was the rosé Chair a Canon from Dunham. Its fruity notes were beautifully blended & smooth.
Of course I had to visit the #1 ranked restaurant in Canada. These guys know a thing or two about food & hospitality, I'll tell you that. We were greeted warmly & the staff knew what they were talking about. The way they were articulating their opinions on various wines, it was like poetry. The ambience was nice, although it could get a little loud sometimes. Staff were extremely attentive. The food was very interesting. The dishes incorporated a lot of combinations I never would've thought would pair well together, but there was harmony on my taste buds. Some dishes were exceptional, like the duck breast & tartare, while the eggplant with eel & sea urchin dish was a little lacklustre. I respect the creativity & inventiveness with all the offerings on the menu, but not at the cost of flavour. Small detail, we did have to remind staff about appetizers we had ordered that didn't arrive as our mains were being brought out. Overall, definitely worth the visit. A meal worth splurging for!
A very enjoyable kick back evening. Not pretentious, tasty cooking. Vibe inside is pumping & happy. Our server was really good at engaging with the tables & hearing what we wanted for a drink. The wait between some dishes was a little long, but nothing too overly long. I didn't really like the longish wait for a table beyond our reservation time (second seating) though, but in part this is due to there being not much outside the front door. Overall, I think this would be like your favourite neighbourhood wine bar: great for a catch up with friends, not so great for a first date but fine otherwise. Would return.
Lived up to its rating. A minor service slip to start but a full recovery for a wonderful meal. Unique dishes & wines.
The quality of the food is on point & the concepts behind them are very well thought out. My top 3 favourite we ordered were the scallop sandwich, eggplant dish & profiterole. Our server recommended most of the dishes based on the classics they bring back versions of since the menu changes daily. Our waitress was also super knowledgeable about the menu & new best pairings & serving sizes. Would recommend for people who are foodies. I would definitely go back & have other dishes!
Nothing exceptional in my opinion, maybe my hopes were set too high. However, all the dishes were delicious nonetheless.
Really really excellent. Truly a bucket list restaurant. Lovely staff know the dishes well. Very good wine pairing. Perfect evening.
Incredible service, great ambiance & the food was pretty great. There were a couple of dishes not exactly to our taste but we were happy to try all the creative dishes.
Mediocre at best. Got the Chef's selection for a table of 4, which was pretty much everything on the menu You can get a better version of any of these dishes along Bloor West for a third the price. The trout was the only dish that was better than average Service was abysmal. Had to wait 15+ minutes at times to get the attention of our main waitress. We specifically mentioned no raw meats because of pregnancy, but was still served tuna tartare. One of the blandest, unimpressive tartare I've had, btw. Way too loud for any real conversation Don't buy the hype. Anyone saying this is #1 in Canada is disingenuous
Went with a group of six & ordered almost the whole menu. Every bite was delicious, the service was incredible. We opted to share everything, & the staff advised us on how much to order & even offered to 1.5x certain dishes so that each person would get enough.
