Teams from Joe Beef and Maison Publique join forces on a new project, McKiernan - Traiteur Luncheonette Rôtisserie. Located on the second floor of the Complexe Dompark, an industrial building located along the Lachine Canal
Overall, reviews of McKiernan Rôtisserie praise the roasted chicken, its sauce, and Brussels sprouts as standout, along with donuts and Parker House rolls, while noting generous portions and a warm, rustic chic space that suits big groups; the vibe is lively and friendly with strong service when busy, though some experiences mention slow or inconsistent service, high prices for portions, and occasional over salty or dry dishes; brunch and lunch are well regarded for variety and value, and reservations are recommended for peak times given the roomy, bright dining area near large windows and parking nearby; in sum, it is seen as a reliable, enjoyed spot with delicious comfort food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a strong sense of place, with a few caveats about price, noise, and occasional missteps.
Our party of four visited on a Sunday evening. There was ample parking available at the front, despite signage indicating potential towing; after confirming with the hostess, we were assured that parking on the opposite side was acceptable. We were seated by the window, providing a pleasant view of the spacious dining area. The restaurant attracted numerous families with children, resulting in a lively atmosphere which became quieter around 7:30 pm.
The cocktails were excellent. We ordered four appetizers; three arrived promptly, but we needed to remind the server about the fourth, which was delivered five minutes later along with our main courses. Although not ideal, the food itself was enjoyable. Our selections included prime rib, rotisserie chicken, & schnitzel, all prepared well. We also ordered a bottle of red wine for the main course, but it remained unopened on the counter near our table for approximately twenty minutes before we had to flag down our waiter.
While the staff provided friendly service, it appeared that servers were assigned too many tables, resulting in an inconsistent pace & several overlooked items. The team addressed this by offering a complimentary dessert to share among our group.
Overall a nice evening with good food but chaotic service

The food was good. The only thing is I thought my ribs were a little dry.
Waiting staff is very kind & helpful, the dining room is spacious & looks like an old factory that's been repurposed into a restaurant. It's a lovely spot.
I'll be going back to sample more things off their menu.
We went as a big group, around 18 people. The food was excellent! My favorite dish were the Brussels sprouts. The roast chicken itself was amazing but I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms so the sauce provided wasn't my jam but still good! I also really liked the ribs. The dessert course slightly disappointed me, I was expecting more of a pouding chômeur type dessert but I liked the variety offered & they were still good (various donuts, cookie & brownies) Overall it was worth the money.
The location itself is well decorated & very spacious. It's an amazing place for a large group.
Unfortunately I only have pictures of the appetizers
Ohhh man I love the food here. Big sharing plates of ribs & chicken. The brussel sprouts are amazing as is the cauliflower. A not so new anymore, Montreal classic. God bless these amazing folk who run it!

Their brussel sprouts dish is the absolute best; it's a must try. I also love their pasta & rotisserie chicken. The sauce on the rotisserie chicken is just perfect.
However, I am not a big fan of their ribs: the flavors were a bit underwhelming.
I'd argue there is no better overall restaurant in Montreal than McKiernan. Their menu is always being switched up a bit to offer something new, & they never miss - the food is always a hit, with a great wine selection. I personally salivate over the prime rib.
I recommend going with a group, as McKiernan is best enjoyed when you can pluck things from multiple plates. More cost effective that way. Don't forget to get a donut for dessert!
Overall, I can't recommend McKiernan enough. Amazing resto.
Ordered a $14 bowl of soup by delivery & when I'm telling you it's the tiniest portion I've ever seen, I'm not kidding. I got it for my sick husband & I was embarassed to bring it up to him. The $37 ribs were tasty but ya...they were $37. & that soda is $7. This place is absurdly expensive.
Stopped by this spot in Lachine because it looked really cute on the inside - definitely a cozy place if you're just looking to grab a drink or a beer after hanging out in the area. Unfortunately, the food really didn't live up to expectations.
The highlights: the Parker House rolls were excellent - soft, buttery, garlicky perfection. Fries were also solid, crispy & well-seasoned. The horseradish sauce wasn't for me (but that's more about preference, so if you like horseradish you might enjoy it).
Everything else was disappointing. The ribs had a tasty Korean-inspired sweet-savory sauce, but the actual ribs were almost entirely fat with barely any meat - I've never had ribs like that before. The rigatoni pasta was cooked properly, but the sauce was bland & lacked depth, leaving the dish flat overall.
It was one of those meals that just felt very'mid' all around, which is frustrating when there are so many better options in Montreal. Maybe it was just an off night, but personally I won't be coming back. The food execution needs serious work if they want to match the nice vibe of the space.

I visited McKiernan & was very disappointed with the experience. The appetizers & food were extremely salty. The ribs were served raw/medium rare without asking us how we wanted them cooked. When we requested a change, the waitress said it was not possible. The service felt unprofessional, & the overall food quality did not match the high scores & reviews I saw online. Definitely not what I expected.
Great location & space. Chicken (4), Ribs (4), Trout (3), Linguine (2). Trout & Linguine very salty. For the quality, probably not worth the price. Asked to have the leftover sides remainder of the ribs to boxed for take out. Somehow only 1 rib made it in the box? Food service is also quite long.
Possibly one of our favourite spots in Montreal. The food is amazing & the restaurant itself is beautiful with lots of natural sunlight. Our favourites were the prime rib, spicy rigatoni, & the beet salad-though everything else we had was quite good.
On top of this, the service was great. Our server was super personable & absolutely nailed the wine recommendations he gave us. For sure a staple when we visit the city.
This is probably my 10th visit to McKiernan, & it's about time I updated my review. This spot never misses. The schnitzel with eggs & rich bomba sauce was killer. The 16oz prime rib? Flawless. The fusilli with beef ragu & white wine sauce was pure comfort food, elevated. We also had the burrata with peaches & beets, creamy, sweet, earthy, absolutely on point. Shoutout to our waiter Dimitri: hilarious, sharp, & professional. It still amazes me how this second floor gem in the middle of nowhere keeps filling up. McKiernan just delivers, every single time.
Ordered a'prime rib' steak sandwich & received a low quality roast beef slice sandwich, when I asked the server to confirm he shrugged his shoulders & said'same thing'. Came during brunch & the entire place was full of loud children, screaming babies on either side of our table, whose parents decided to change their clothes right next to us. So keep in mind who to expect to eat around. Ordered desserts on the way out & received the wrong order. Only saving grace were the French fries.
Wow! Amazing discovery! Our business just moved in to the building next door, & my fiance & I went to eat dinner to try it out. First of all the service is amazing, like the fansy, very expensive restaurants. + Everyone was genuinely nice. The food is great, they don't have a large menu which is supposed to mean everything that's there, they make really well. The bread is *chef's kiss* We went on a Friday night, no reservations & they still managed to seat us quickly. We had the burrata, the bread, the fries, the pasta & the ribs. & everything was very very tasty! We'll definitely go back!
We visited McKiernan based on the recommendation of a friend. How had we missed coming here? Parking presented the first challenge but there must be a trick to it. The building hosts a range of businesses & everyone arrives by car so it's chaotic. The entrance to McKiernan is on the St. Patrick side & is clearly signed. Once inside there is a gloomy staircase to climb until at last the bright open space is reached & you have arrived at McKiernan. We hadn't booked but we were found a table. Service is friendly & efficient. We chose from the menu ordering the seafood dish & the prime rib sandwich with fries. The food was excellent although we found the portions to be on the small side. Anyway, to compensate we had a donuut & lemon meringue for dessert. Overall we really enjoyed it & we will back but we will book & be prepared for the parking, & probably order more dishes.
Went on Friday night at 10 ish. Service & food was amazing. We had a variety of dishes to share & everything was delish. Do not skip out on the Brussels sprouts & ribs! Our server Nic recommended an amazing orange wine & we finished dinner off with some donuts. 10/10 experience from start to finish, will definitely be back!
