Teams from Joe Beef and Maison Publique join forces on a new project, McKiernan - Traiteur Luncheonette Rôtisserie. Located on the second floor of the Complexe Dompark, an industrial building located along the Lachine Canal
Overall, reviews of McKiernan Rôtisserie praise the roasted chicken, its sauce, and Brussels sprouts as standout, along with donuts and Parker House rolls, while noting generous portions and a warm, rustic chic space that suits big groups; the vibe is lively and friendly with strong service when busy, though some experiences mention slow or inconsistent service, high prices for portions, and occasional over salty or dry dishes; brunch and lunch are well regarded for variety and value, and reservations are recommended for peak times given the roomy, bright dining area near large windows and parking nearby; in sum, it is seen as a reliable, enjoyed spot with delicious comfort food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a strong sense of place, with a few caveats about price, noise, and occasional missteps.
Our party of four visited on a Sunday evening. There was ample parking available at the front, despite signage indicating potential towing; after confirming with the hostess, we were assured that parking on the opposite side was acceptable. We were seated by the window, providing a pleasant view of the spacious dining area. The restaurant attracted numerous families with children, resulting in a lively atmosphere which became quieter around 7:30 pm.
The cocktails were excellent. We ordered four appetizers; three arrived promptly, but we needed to remind the server about the fourth, which was delivered five minutes later along with our main courses. Although not ideal, the food itself was enjoyable. Our selections included prime rib, rotisserie chicken, & schnitzel, all prepared well. We also ordered a bottle of red wine for the main course, but it remained unopened on the counter near our table for approximately twenty minutes before we had to flag down our waiter.
While the staff provided friendly service, it appeared that servers were assigned too many tables, resulting in an inconsistent pace & several overlooked items. The team addressed this by offering a complimentary dessert to share among our group.
Overall a nice evening with good food but chaotic service
McKiernan is a homerun, they check all boxes from service, food & decor. The restaurant is one large open space, the service is very attentive & knowledgeable & the food is great. From your choice of family style portions or single serving portions they hit the mark. My son had the pasta & my wife & I shared the rotisserie chicken with a side salad & their Parker rolls. I skipped dessert but my son had their doughnut & my wife had their lemon meringue pie. Definitely going back here, an absolute treat.

We recently visited McKiernan to celebrate my daughter's 19th birthday, which is a very special milestone-her last year as a teenager. She was incredibly excited, especially since she loves brunch.
The food & service were amazing. We ordered five plates for the four of us, & everything was delicious. The ambiance was also fantastic & really set the tone for a special celebration.
When making the reservation, I noted that we were celebrating her birthday. Upon arrival, the host was wonderful-he acknowledged the birthday, said he would inform the server, & truly made it feel like a big deal, which we really appreciated.
However, at the end of the meal, the bill was brought without any birthday acknowledgment. I went back to the host to ask if maybe it had been forgotten. He then asked if we had ordered dessert. I explained that we hadn't because we were very full. He responded by saying that the sparkler/candle only comes if you order dessert.
That was honestly quite disappointing. When you note a birthday on a reservation & it's acknowledged so warmly at the start, you expect at least a small gesture-especially for such a meaningful occasion-without it being conditional on ordering dessert.
Overall, the food, service, & ambiance were excellent, but the ending left us feeling let down on what was meant to be a very special celebration.
We went as a big group, around 18 people. The food was excellent! My favorite dish were the Brussels sprouts. The roast chicken itself was amazing but I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms so the sauce provided wasn't my jam but still good! I also really liked the ribs. The dessert course slightly disappointed me, I was expecting more of a pouding chômeur type dessert but I liked the variety offered & they were still good (various donuts, cookie & brownies) Overall it was worth the money.
The location itself is well decorated & very spacious. It's an amazing place for a large group.
Unfortunately I only have pictures of the appetizers

I'd argue there is no better overall restaurant in Montreal than McKiernan. Their menu is always being switched up a bit to offer something new, & they never miss - the food is always a hit, with a great wine selection. I personally salivate over the prime rib.
I recommend going with a group, as McKiernan is best enjoyed when you can pluck things from multiple plates. More cost effective that way. Don't forget to get a donut for dessert!
Overall, I can't recommend McKiernan enough. Amazing resto.
Been here multiple times & I will continue to because everything they do is perfect, & the staff is so nice ! Absolutely one of my favourite spots & also the doughnuts are the best in the city hands down it beats Bernie beignes by FAR so either if you're coming here for brunch, dinner or just desserts you will not be disappointed
Beautiful place. Really good food. Excellent waiters. Great desserts, especially their famous homemade donuts.
The only downside is the noise level due to their high ceilings.

I really love this spot for dinner. It's got this great, bustling energy without being too loud, making it perfect for a date night. You should definitely try to make a reservation ahead of time if you can.
At first glance, the menu can look a little all over the place, but once the food starts coming out it all makes sense. The roasted chicken is absolutely fantastic, chicken is cooked perfectly & the sauce is so good. The pasta dishes are also a great option with good portion sizes.
For sides, do yourself a favor & get the deviled brussel sprouts. They are seriously delicious & awesome for sharing. You might want to skip the fries, though. They can be a little hit or miss, sometimes coming out a bit overcooked & dry.
A quick tip for dessert: if you're eyeing the donuts, ask your server to set some aside when you first order your meal. They sell out super fast!
A Few Thoughts on Brunch:
I'm probably in the minority here, but the famous brunch double down just isn't for me. I don't get the hype. The hash browns feel both dry & oily at the same time, almost like they were pre-made & then just flash-fried to order. It's not a dealbreaker, but I'd recommend trying something else instead.
As for the service, it was only a mixed bag the last time I went. The hosts at the front were incredible-super helpful & welcoming. But our waitress seemed a little checked out. We all have off days, but it was weird to see her totally happy & chill with other tables but just meh/cold with us. She did perk up when I went to pay with cash, which I found kind of strange.
Overall, I'd still highly recommend this place for a great dinner out.
Update: went back recently, food & service was top notch, 5 stars all around.
Hidden in an industrial area near the Lachine Canal, McKiernan is a true hidden gem by the team behind Joe Beef.
Don't be fooled by the low-key entrance - inside is a warm, plant-filled space with beautiful natural light & high ceilings. Perfect for brunch, solo time, or a relaxed hangout with friends.
Today's special was a perfectly cooked medium-rare beef with fresh greens - incredibly tender & flavorful. The crispy Brussels sprouts were addictive, like snack food. The rigatoni was rich & satisfying (though not spicy as described).
The cutlet reminded me of a thick, crispy Shanghainese fried pork chop - so good. I also saw someone use hash browns as burger buns with fried chicken… genius idea I'll try next time!
Dessert was a surprise hit - a blueberry cheesecake donut that was juicy & light, not overly sweet. The orange blossom mocktail had a unique Jo Malone-style aroma - floral & refreshing (but wish it came in a bigger glass!).
Friendly service, no rush vibes, way more comfortable than noisy downtown spots. I'll be coming back again & again to try more!
Ordered a'prime rib' steak sandwich & received a low quality roast beef slice sandwich, when I asked the server to confirm he shrugged his shoulders & said'same thing'. Came during brunch & the entire place was full of loud children, screaming babies on either side of our table, whose parents decided to change their clothes right next to us. So keep in mind who to expect to eat around. Ordered desserts on the way out & received the wrong order. Only saving grace were the French fries.

Been here twice already within 3 weeks, stellar service, great food & really nice ambiance.
Food is amazing & simple, you know a place is good when the menu is short & not several pages long. I gotta recommend the deviled brussel sprouts, nice crisp & bitter taste with the sauce. Their dessert are very nice & not overly sweet.
Service is impeccable, staff is very attentive & change your plate throughout the different stage of the meal if need to be.
We visited McKiernan based on the recommendation of a friend. How had we missed coming here? Parking presented the first challenge but there must be a trick to it. The building hosts a range of businesses & everyone arrives by car so it's chaotic. The entrance to McKiernan is on the St. Patrick side & is clearly signed. Once inside there is a gloomy staircase to climb until at last the bright open space is reached & you have arrived at McKiernan. We hadn't booked but we were found a table. Service is friendly & efficient. We chose from the menu ordering the seafood dish & the prime rib sandwich with fries. The food was excellent although we found the portions to be on the small side. Anyway, to compensate we had a donuut & lemon meringue for dessert. Overall we really enjoyed it & we will back but we will book & be prepared for the parking, & probably order more dishes.
I parked, confused if I have to pay or not I ask the guy working there. He gives me a ticket & told me I have to stamp it at the restaurant. It was my first time here , so I asked him if the restaurant was good , & he said he didn't know, that it was too expensive & he couldn't afford it. I laughed & I went in. At the entrance it's a picture whit a decent joke about some penguins. I went upstairs & I found this big , almost enormous salon. I ask to be seated at the bar, the place was empty & I don't like to seat alone. Over there the pastry chef was making lemon meringue pies. I ordered the Brussels sprouts white blue cheese, & the ribs with honey. The first one was way too salty , & surprisingly spicy, I only enjoyed the first 5 sprouts & I couldn't eat more. The ribs were tender, sweet , a bit too simple for me, & at a little cold. The service was great, everyone was friendly & professional. For dessert I ordered a beigne whit peaches & cream but I didn't ate it, I give it to the guy at the parking lot.
Great service & atmosphere! Food was good but was expecting more from what I had heard about this place. Will be back to try more dishes. We were given free donuts for dessert as they made extra or something, & they were delicious! Love the location & interiors.
