Teams from Joe Beef and Maison Publique join forces on a new project, McKiernan - Traiteur Luncheonette Rôtisserie. Located on the second floor of the Complexe Dompark, an industrial building located along the Lachine Canal
McKiernan is a spacious, open dining space with lots of natural light where guests repeatedly praise the food, especially Brussels sprouts, rotisserie chicken, schnitzel, prime rib, and donuts; the menu's shareable, group-friendly format makes it a popular spot for celebrations and large dinners, with brunch also getting positive notes for value and variety. The vibe is lively and welcoming, a rustic-industrial setting that feels warm despite sometimes being loud. Service is praised for friendliness and attentiveness, though several reviews mention uneven pacing and occasional oversights, with a few evenings accompanied by slow service or delays, and some guests reporting mismatches between expectations and the bill or certain policies. Several guests note convenient parking and the option to reserve, and staff sometimes go above and beyond, offering a complimentary dessert or accommodating group needs. Overall, the experience is described as delicious and enjoyable, with standout items delivering comfort food at a solid price, making McKiernan a go-to for groups and celebrations, though a few visits highlight room for improvement in consistency and noise control.
Came here for brunch today. Ordered the beetroot salad with ricotta, it was very fresh & tasty, coffee was great & got a snitzel sandwich. Music was nostalgic & fun (elton john, the beatles….) & vibe was great for families & couples. Something that inspired me to write this review is the hospitality that we received from all the staff. The staff were all so welcoming & in a good mood & it makes a huge difference these days. I came in with my service dog Mila, & normally when I go to restaurants with her I feel treated less than. Given the undesirable tables in the restaurant & made feel lesser than or a burden for being there with my dog. But not at McKiernan's. Here not only me but Mila was respected & we felt more than welcomed. So I just want to say an extra thank you for that.

Very disappointing experience at McKiernan on my birthday night.
This was actually my fourth time coming here, which is exactly why I chose this place for my birthday night. Previous experiences were always acceptable, but tonight's service completely ruined the evening.
Before reserving, I carefully checked the website, OpenTable, & Instagram. Nowhere was there any mention of a'no cake policy' or a $5 per person cake charge. We were 6 people, & I simply brought a small birthday cake to have after dinner with tea.
First, the receptionist refused the cake completely. Then suddenly after'speaking to the manager,' they decided they could allow it… but only if they charged $5 per person. So apparently the policy is flexible when there's extra money involved.
Honestly, it felt cheap, unprofessional, & extremely poorly handled. If these rules exist, write them clearly online instead of surprising customers at the door on special occasions.
The food was mediocre this time, the service was disappointing, & the entire experience left a bad impression. As someone who used to recommend this place, I definitely will not be returning.
Never understood why the restau is almost always soldout whenever I tried to go as a walk-in. Now I can tell why & how, I had a wonderful experience at McKiernan, nothing to complain about. The food is fresh&delicious, the waiters were courteous, the place is beautiful especially at night, competitive price & plenty of space for parking. I will definitely come back, this place is a must go
I like the ambiance & the atmosphere here, very comfortable to eat & chit chat. The service & the food are all very great. Price is compatible with the quality & the portions are HUGE, we have 4 dishes for 2 people & were so full after all.
Would recommend to everyone, this is my fav place to eat so far in Montréal! 😍
Been here a couple times already & it's always an excellent experience. The food is exciting, the staff are engaging, & the playlist is fire. Great place to get a group together for a fun night (& family friendly too!)

Fantastic food, posh atmosphere but for the everyday person also.
Unique menu items.
Service was very slow but when it was busy. Later as it got quieter the service was quicker & more attentive. Had very good specialty shot drink recommended by our waiter from France.
Not rushed by staff to finish & leave, took our time to chat.
My wife & I visited McKiernan many times since they opened, & the experience has been consistently excellent. Whether it's a date night, a gathering with friends, or a casual bite with a buddy at the bar tonight, the quality never misses.
The food is always outstanding, the desserts are exceptional, & the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between lively & comfortable. The staff are warm, attentive, & genuinely welcoming.
Highly recommend this place truly stands out for its consistency & overall experience.
Hidden gem of a restaurant. I went today with a friend & everything was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were incredible & an absolute must-order. We also had the trout & the chicken, both were excellent, but the chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, & full of flavor.
For dessert, we had the lemon pie, which was amazing. They also have a great selection of filled beignets that are definitely worth trying.
What stood out the most was the service. The staff was warm, attentive, patient, & happy to answer questions.
Great food, great service, great experience. I'll definitely be back!

I visited for happy hour/ dinner time with some friends.
Nice space, efficient staff & interesting menu.
Food was good & service as well.
I think it's a good location & it's definitely a gem for the neighborhood if you are looking for a polished, old feel vibe with a great experience.
Beautiful place. Really good food. A bit pricey. Excellent waiters. Great desserts, especially their famous homemade donuts & their lemon & meringue pies.
The only downside is the noise level due to their high ceilings. & more lights shoud be added in the staircase. Another thing which I found really surprising is that now dogs are accepted. & I don't think that I approve because of the texture of the floors. They are beautiful old wooden varnished (& mostly unvarnished) planks & if a dog had an accident there, it would really be hard to clean it up properly because of the cracks between the planks. I naturally understand for guide dogs.
Had the family dinner menu & every dish was delicious! My favourites were the Brussels sprouts & the steak-both were cooked perfectly & full of flavour.
It's a fantastic menu for big gatherings, with something everyone can enjoy. Highly recommend for group dining!
