Le service est d'une grande courtoisie & tout le personnel est d'une gentillesse remarquable. On sent vraiment une ambiance chaleureuse, notamment grâce à l'accueil du propriétaire qui est particulièrement aimable & attentionné envers ses clients. Quant à la nourriture, la qualité est exceptionnelle du début à la fin. C'est un sans-faute, je recommande vivement !
We dined at McKiernan's this past weekend for a joint bachelor party of 35 (yes, 35!) people & it was a wonderful experience. The name of our waitresses escaping me but she was so lovely, flexible, thoughtful & accommodating, as were the rest of the staff. We felt both comfortably at home & very spoiled at the same time. We did a set menu with the restaurant; the menu was fantastic & the food was delicious & plentiful. Can't recommend enough, especially if you're looking to celebrate or dine with a large group!

I'd argue there is no better overall restaurant in Montreal than McKiernan. Their menu is always being switched up a bit to offer something new, & they never miss - the food is always a hit, with a great wine selection. I personally salivate over the prime rib.
I recommend going with a group, as McKiernan is best enjoyed when you can pluck things from multiple plates. More cost effective that way. Don't forget to get a donut for dessert!
Overall, I can't recommend McKiernan enough. Amazing resto.

Littéralement, rien de négatif à dire. C'est rare que je donne un 5 étoiles en tout point.
Si vous voulez vous gâter, considérez ce restaurant.
Nous sommes allés au Mc Kiernan en famille hier & nous avons adoré notre soirée. Nourriture exceptionnelle, excellent service & ambiance chaleureuse. Je recommande fortement !
We attended this place for a birthday - it was a great experience except for the fact that our server -Tiffany- brought an extremely negative attitude. Unprompted she was curt & rude, when asked questions or details for the menu she would provide no detail & in fact talk down to any individual when asked. Although it was extremely busy & any person can understand the overwhelming aspect of a dinner rush - no other server had this attitude. For events like a birthday it can really put a negative tone on the experience. The food was good but with such a negative experience with staff I would never recommend or go here again.
I really love this spot for dinner. It's got this great, bustling energy without being too loud, making it perfect for a date night. You should definitely try to make a reservation ahead of time if you can.
At first glance, the menu can look a little all over the place, but once the food starts coming out it all makes sense. The roasted chicken is absolutely fantastic, chicken is cooked perfectly & the sauce is so good. The pasta dishes are also a great option with good portion sizes.
For sides, do yourself a favor & get the deviled brussel sprouts. They are seriously delicious & awesome for sharing. You might want to skip the fries, though. They can be a little hit or miss, sometimes coming out a bit overcooked & dry.
A quick tip for dessert: if you're eyeing the donuts, ask your server to set some aside when you first order your meal. They sell out super fast!
A Few Thoughts on Brunch:
I'm probably in the minority here, but the famous brunch double down just isn't for me. I don't get the hype. The hash browns feel both dry & oily at the same time, almost like they were pre-made & then just flash-fried to order. It's not a dealbreaker, but I'd recommend trying something else instead.
As for the service, it was only a mixed bag the last time I went. The hosts at the front were incredible-super helpful & welcoming. But our waitress seemed a little checked out. We all have off days, but it was weird to see her totally happy & chill with other tables but just meh/cold with us. She did perk up when I went to pay with cash, which I found kind of strange.
Overall, I'd still highly recommend this place for a great dinner out.
Update: went back recently, food & service was top notch, 5 stars all around.

Only good things to say about this place. Food was really good, portions are generous, the server was very nice (all of them were). They let you take your time & don't rush you. Highly recommend
SERVICE!! The quality of the service was amazing, I think the best I have experienced in many years. The team looked very well coordinated & very cohesive. The food arrived in a timely manner, a new water bottle was always place on our table. The food was very good, well seasoned. It is more of a family style serving, each serving is good for about 2 people. The place is cozy, nicely designed & unique. Would be a nice place for a 5-7, date, casual dinning. There is a parking lot & it is indicated that you have to pay, but long story short is actually free. Would definitely recommend!
We were a group of 22 people. The staff was very welcoming & nice, the restaurant is beautiful, music was great, & overall it was an amazing experience. We had the group menu family style so we got to taste a lot of different food in a 3 course meal & everything was amazing. If ever you wanted more of a plate you could just order more free of charge. What is also amazing is that the food we didn't eat was put in to go boxes! Would recommend in a heartbeat!

Ce restaurant est sans aucun doute l'un de mes meilleurs à Montréal. La qualité des plats est exceptionnelle, chaque bouchée est un véritable régal pour les papilles. Les saveurs sont parfaitement maîtrisées. L'ambiance est chaleureuse & le décor ajoute à l'expérience. Been here twice already within 3 weeks, stellar service, great food & really nice ambiance.
Food is amazing & simple, you know a place is good when the menu is short & not several pages long. I gotta recommend the deviled brussel sprouts, nice crisp & bitter taste with the sauce. Their dessert are very nice & not overly sweet.
Service is impeccable, staff is very attentive & change your plate throughout the different stage of the meal if need to be.
The shnitzel sandwich is outstanding, & the ambience is truly great. The French fries are spectacular, making every visit a delightful experience. Highly recommend!
