Découvrez la cuisine cambodgienne dans ce resto-bar situé à Verdun. Situé sur l'une des rues les plus appréciées de Montréal, Street Monkeys est l'endroit idéal pour profiter d'un souper entre amis ou en famille.

We loved going to Street Monkeys with my friend, we shared a few dishes & everyhting was delicious. Cocktails were amazing too. An incredible experience overall.
First of all, the service is exceptional. Staff is over the top friendly & knows their menu inside out. Went with some of their recommendations & was not disappointed.
Prepare to spend a little more than you'd think - & it's justified. Each dish popped with flavour at the exception of the Nataing. I was expecting to get more curry coming through with a fuller richness with the pork belly, but it sort of fell flat for me. On the other hand, the Bok Lahong was incredible & fresh, & the spicy fried chicken & Fried Cod were standout dishes to us. Cocktails were great as well.
The place has a slight upscale feel, with some hipster vibes.
Check it out for some Cambodian inspired cuisine with a twist.

It is very rare I leave one star review but tonight wad very disappointing. Since we entered they told us we had 1.30h to sit & dine. We agreed (a group of 4).
The dishes were hit or miss… some were very flavourful like the coconut curry fish & papaya salad. Some were very bland in flavour.
What topped it off was the beef tartare. The beef itself wasn't very fresh & you could taste the old bloody taste of beef (when it is 2-3days old).
We told the server that & basically his response is'everyone has liked it tonight' while in the beginning he said'i have a few beef tartare left'.
It should have been a red flag since he said'i have a few left' & not order it.
We felt a bit rushed during the service & two dishes came very late. We had only 10mins to finish them because they were giving eyes to basically finish & leave the table.
It's sad since this place has been hyped by a few friends before.
I would recommend this place for a quick drink & a bite , but not for a full course meal.
Sharing dishes is fine with us , but the cod & the scallops (42$) were served lukewarm instead of piping hot because they plate the food on cold plates. The taste was delicious. Avoid the beef skewers , poor quality meat , very stringy. The sticky rice was served in a weird little plastic bag, it was just plain rice ….. all & all won't go back , 200$ later & this being a birthday supper , a bit disappointing…
I also mentioned this to the waiter (cold food etc ), nothing … too bad it seems
Went early so the noise level was fine..
The atmosphere & the hospitality was amazing, food was top tier, it's a very precise & detailed space when it's come to culture, preservation, & cuisine. One of our favorite dishes was stuffed chicken wings, steak with prahok, & the amok . Wide array of traditional dishes while adding a modern twist. Would go again, highly recommend!
The Yuzu Snooze Yuzu loose gin cocktail was delicious-fresh & nicely tangy. We loved it.
We shared three dishes between the two of us & it was more than enough. The papaya salad was fresh & crunchy, followed by the squid, which was perfectly tender & just as good.
We then had the fried rice special with Hokkaido scallops-four large scallops served with a really tasty lemony sauce on the side.
For dessert, we shared the dessert of the day: a tapioca pudding with pumpkin & chantilly on top (we asked for it without cinnamon). It was light, sweet, & a great way to end the meal.
Service was efficient & friendly. & our waiter knew how to explain the menu & the ingredients perfectly.
Nice & cozy place. You get to taste original cambodian dishes with a little personal touch of modern cuisine. The fried papaya in their papaya salad is a great addition for the taste & the texture. They also offer a special kind of beer, pomelo & kaffir lime, made exclusively for this restaurant.

Good restaurant. I've had cambodian food a handful of times & the quality was good at this restaurant. My main criticism is that all the food seemed sweet, some dishes were really too sweet for me. Service & ambiance was good, albeit a bit pricey.
After reading positive reviews I was really hoping to like this place.
Overall the meal was not worth the money & food average. For example we got 2 skewers of lamb for $56. Each skewer had 6 very small slices (not chunks of meat) & not chops like in the photos. Meat was somewhat tough & unevenly cooked some were well done & others rare. Flavour was nothing special.
Waiter hyped the whole fish of the day which was Arctic char. It was dry & not flaky for $55. It was an okay size but nothing like steamed fish you get at Chinese restaurants which is tender & flaky. I didn't mind the sweet sauce but I prefer a Thai fried fish for sure. I think the frying dried out the fish.
The stuffed zucchini flowers were pretty ho hum. I was really looking forward to this too. The stuffing was shrimp paste which was bit rubbery & bland. I could not taste the flower. It was basically shrimp paste fried in batter. We got 2 orders of 2 on a plate. This cost $60 for 4 pieces to share among 6 people. I would pass on this if I were you.
The fried chicken with sauce on it was okay but reminded me of General Tao. I was hoping for something bit different or interesting.
The chicken wings stuffed with sausage was juicy & flavourful. First time I've had stuffed chicken wings so that was fun.
The sweetbreads were okay served with onions & watercress. I think the watercress was raw while sweet onions were lightly cooked. Sauce was nice too. Pieces of sweetbread were bite size. I am a huge fan of sweetbreads so you can do pretty much anything to them & I will like them The others at the table were not as enamoured with them as I was that is they were a little underwhelmed.
There were several dishes with sweet sauces that tasted similar. It would be nice to have more variety. There were no dishes that were very spicy for those who don't like spice or can't tolerate. NOTE all the sauces are pre-prepared so they can't adjust any of them to make less or more spicy. This was a bit disappointing.
The only thing we had which unanimously WOWED us was the eggplant salad. The dressing was super flavourful; the accompanying vegetables complemented the eggplant well & the eggplant was cooked to perfection. The size of the plate was good too with good amount of eggplant. The whole thing was delicious to point you wanted to lick the plate. Really the only thing I'd go back for. For this reason I regret not ordering the papaya salad too. Maybe this is where this restaurant shines.
The waiter was very nice & was telling us what to order & how many orders without really telling us much about what we would be getting. I don't think you want to be surprised getting 2 orders of lamb skewers & end up with thin slices of lamb on a stick.
As for the atmosphere it was not to my liking. The chairs are Soooo uncomfortable. Metal folding chairs really? For almost a $500 meal I think you can buy some comfortable chairs. Ventilation could be better. I just got through a week of wild fire smoke & then come to this restaurant to suck in more smoke.
You could also put signs on the restroom doors so you don't walk right past them into the kitchen!
It is very loud & we were shouting throughout the evening. We were 6 & I didn't always hear what was being said at the other end of the table & they weren't sitting that far away. In fact I couldn't even hearl the person in front of me either. So we were a bit hoarse by time we left.
I am beginning to wonder not just for this restaurant but many others with good Google ratings & reviews if they are manufactured or planted. I find restaurants get these glowing reviews & then the reality is quite different. This one sadly fits this category. For close to $500 I think pretty much the whole meal should be amazing & make you want to lick all the plates. Am I asking too much?
It was not a total loss. I am glad I tried Cambodian food.
I had high expectations after hearing great things about this place, but unfortunately, it really didn't live up to the hype. The food lacked flavor & was overly oily, which made the experience underwhelming (the beef sausage notably did not taste good!!!) We tried four different dishes between the two of us, & sadly, none was good-except for the papaya salad, which was just okay. Maybe we were just unlucky, but overall not good :( & very small portions for the price! Do not recommend.
Incredible service, incredible food. We came with a party of 12, & they served us family style with eight services of incredible dishes, & enough portions that everyone left with their bellies full to bursting. We were celebrating the birthday of someone with some dietary restrictions & they could not be more attentive & accommodating about it. Hillary was an excellent host & a pleasure to plan this with. Fantastic experience!

I absolutely loved the food here! It was very delicious but a bit on the salty side, so I would recommend ordering a side of sticky rice or jasmine rice to accompany the main dishes.
We ordered all of the specials, & of those, I recommend the asparagus & morels, & the stuffed zucchini flowers.
We sat at the bar & got the opportunity to see all the action. The staff was very skilled & professional.
Does Drop Dead Divine sound good to you? If so you should head to Les Street Monkeys now. Outstanding Umami cuisine from Chef Tota & his ultra efficient & friendly team. Started with the eggplant dish (Nhoam D'Aubergine) which wowed my longtime foodie friend who couldn't believe her taste buds. Other dishes were the'fried' cod with Amok sauce, which was the best fried cod dish I ever have eaten. So light it's hard to believe it's fried (thanks in part to OiLChef) & the sauce was perfect. The chicken brochette was exquisite & should be renamed because the chicken almost tasted like some other kind of meat altogether. Now the cocktails, ooh la la. No wonder people come from all over the city to discover the superb blends & flavour mastery.
The creme brulée au Thé Thailandais was heartier than the usual variety, a very nice twist on such a common dessert.
All in all , can I give 5.5 stars? Can't wait to try Chef Tota's other Cambodian noodle fare just a few doors away at Ketiw
Very cool spot , tried some awesome dishes & had a great time. The restaurant is very nice & clean inside. The staff was super friendly & did a great job. The food was very interesting & we enjoyed every dish. The stuffed chicken wings with the house hotsauce were very good! The shrimp ceviche was really cool too the wasabi flavour was crazy ?

Fantastic food - unique & tasty dishes made to share. Service was very friendly & helpful for choosing among all the enticing options on the menu. Truly a montreal gem.
Was here with a large group so we had the set menu. The service was great & the ambiance & atmosphere inside is great. The problem was that almost all of the dishes had a very sweet flavour profile. As we couldn't pick the dishes, it would've been nice for the set menu to have some variety. I was quite tired of the sweetness by the end. The food in general was good.
Take a seat & be ready for this STELLAR review. I just spent my 50th birthday at The Street Monkeys & when I say it's SUPERB, it's an understatement. 1) Hillary made the booking experience a breeze for a group of 20. We did a set meal, chef's choice of 7(!) dishes but I could request certain items if wanted. Also, she made sure to ask if there were any dietary restrictions ahead of time or anything else we needed. Thank you Hillary! 2) Chef Tota Oung, your food is magnificent! The entire group agreed & many had never tried any type of Khmer or Thai food before. Thank you & your chefs for the delicious everything! We had so much food, I got to take home the leftovers which I am feasting on as I leave this review! Arkoun Chran/Kop kun ka 3) Henry, our server, gave impeccable service! We were a big crowd in a full restaurant on a Saturday night & he made sure we were well taken care of at all times. Xie xie ni! 4)The cocktails & signature beer. YUUUMMMMMMY. I should have made a point to meet & thank the bartender. I'll be back to do that soon enough! 5) No complaints from the staff or owners about my rowdy group singing Happy Birthday 5x+ 😂 I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for some delicious spicy Thai / Cambodian food, delicious cocktails amazing service & a great time. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
