We were walking by & noticed this themed Christmas cafe, so we sat at the counter & got a smoothie & a coffee (both were just ok). After leaving I did some research & noticed that this place is quite viral online, & usually there's a huge line up & long wait to get inside. We didn't have to wait at all because it was earlier in the day I guess. I must say it really is just a tourist attraction.
Also a heads up, it seems most breakfast/ lunch options are only offered from a grab & go fridge. I was going to order a lox bagel but with all of the delicious warm fresh bagel places in Montreal, I refuse to eat a refrigerated bagel.
I get that it's cute & fun & festive, but their offerings aren't worth the wait if you get stuck in that lineup!
Busy cafe, long line, feel festive inside. Hot chocolate is good, not overly sweet.
The ambience was very festive, decoration gets most of the stars. Some of the themed drinks were good, some others tasted like not much. There were a lot of people working, not very clear who our server was as they would often vanish & we had to really get their attention to order (they seemed a bit lost, we did give them grace). There was a line outside, so it made it more confusing as to why it took so long for us to order anything & then even longer to receive our orders. Now get this. We are finishing our pizzas (they were OK). More drinks are supposed to be on their way. & then suddenly, a waitress comes to pressure us to wrap up because people are waiting. The sense of sudden urgency was a little unsettling, maybe tell your team to be more efficient? So I explained my side. We've been there for 2 hours, half of that time was us waiting to order & then waiting for our orders. & we are waiting for 3 drinks. The woman apologized.
I'm not one to write bad reviews, but have I not seen how third of their team was not proactive at all, & then receiving negative energy because of THEIR poor staff management was not okay.
We went there for the festive hot choco & it didn't disappoint. We got the dark chocolate version & it was still a bit sweet but it tasted delicious nonetheless.
The cafe was decorated with Christmas trimmings & it really gets you into the spirit of the season. It was a bit crowded & the line was long but it was not chaotic. The staff managed it very well.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Last night, we had the pleasure of dining at La Taverne de Noël, & I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles & a festive atmosphere that truly set the tone for the evening. The service was outstanding. Despite the restaurant being busy, the staff remained incredibly friendly & accommodating, ensuring that we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. Their attentiveness & professionalism really stood out, making us feel valued as guests. Now, onto the food-simply excellent! The chef did an incredible job, not only in terms of flavor but also in presentation. Each dish was beautifully arranged, showcasing the care & creativity that went into the preparation. It was a feast for both the eyes & the palate! Moreover, the Christmas decor was absolutely enchanting. The festive touches throughout the restaurant added to the overall charm & made our dining experience feel even more special. I highly recommend La Taverne de Noël to anyone looking for a delightful meal in a warm, welcoming environment. We left with full bellies & happy hearts, & we can't wait to return!
We came here after a hockey game the night before & stood in line for almost an hour. A woman came out & spoke in French & told us they would close the shop within the hour. We decide to stop by at a different time the following day. The next day was a rainy one, it was a 5 minute wait. The full menu was not yet available that time of day. Baked goods, hot bevys & cocktail only in the afternoon. I enjoyed the Le Grinch drink (it was like a big shot). Hubs had a hot chocolate & some kind of cookie. Festive decorations everywhere. The restroom needs some attention. It did not have paper towels & almost noTP. I did alert them of that. If we travel to Montreal again I would like to try the pizza. It smelled so delish the night before when we didn't get in.
A delightful pop-up café fully immersed in the Christmas spirit! The menu is beautifully crafted with festive inspiration, offering unique treats that truly capture the holiday vibe. Special shoutout to the "Choco Mauve" hot chocolate-it's an absolute must-try & a hit with both adults & kids! I visited with my child, & we were enchanted by the cozy, magical ambiance. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit, better to go in the morning to avoid the line up.
