Review Summary

Overall, La Cour des Palmiers is remembered for a beautiful setting, refined ambiance, and strong tea and pastry offerings, with the live piano adding a magical touch. Experiences vary on service, with some reviews noting very slow and occasionally underwhelming service, long waits for orders, drinks, and food, and occasional upcharges for cream or tea refills. Many guests describe the space as elegant and special, making it a memorable venue for occasions, while others feel portions or flavors do not always justify the price. Some visits are described as highly attentive and friendly, and the drinks and certain dishes receive praise, whereas other visits are marked by slower, inconsistent service and questions about value. Overall, most would consider returning for the atmosphere and quality, but expectations for a premium experience may require adjustments in service tempo and portion generosity.

First time Palm court, high tea for us.
Hostess was very nice. Then, the waitress arrived. She seemed nice at first. Then she arrived carrying 2 metal plate carriers of food which was too much for her. She placed the first metal plate carrier in the middle. 2 of the 3 plates started to slide off the carrier. We corrected it by holding them. She continued to push it anyway & spilled half of my tea cup all over the tablecloth.
She promised to come & fix her mess. She never came back.
Some of my sandwiches had wet bread. One little orange pastry was inedible.

She never checked on us afterwards. She disappeared!
My daughter was happy, I was underwhelmed with this experience. Super expensive. I wouldn't go back.

I recently visited for afternoon tea & overall had a lovely experience. The Palm Court is a beautiful space & the atmosphere feels very special. The live piano music added a wonderful touch, & the service from the staff was warm & attentive throughout. The food itself was also excellent. Everything tasted fresh & thoughtfully prepared.

The one aspect that surprised me, however, was how limited the cream & tea service felt. We were initially given only a very small amount of cream (roughly two tablespoons) for the scones. When I asked for more, the additional serving came with a full new set of jams we didn't need, but again only a very small amount of cream in a much larger container. We were also charged extra for this additional cream, which felt a bit unusual given the overall price of the experience.

Similarly, when I asked for more tea, the pot was simply topped up with hot water rather than being provided with a fresh tea bag. This left the second pot quite weak & watery. At around $100 per person after tax & tip, I expected the tea service itself to be more generous.

It's a wonderful setting & the quality of the food & service are excellent, but a more generous approach to the tea & cream would make the experience feel more in line with the premium price point.

We are a family of 4 & had the pleasure of spending Valentine's Day at the Palm Court at The Ritz-Carlton, & it was nothing short of magical.

From the moment we were seated, the atmosphere felt luxurious & refined - the perfect setting for a special afternoon tea. The live pianist was absolutely excellent, adding a beautiful touch to the entire experience. The music created such lovely ambiance without ever overpowering our conversations.

As for the drinks - perfection. The matcha latte was hands down the best I've had: smooth, vibrant, & perfectly balanced. The masala chai was rich & comforting with just the right amount of spice, & the London Fog was delicately fragrant & creamy.

The pastries were delicate & beautifully presented, the scones were perfect - tender on the inside with just the right golden exterior - & paired wonderfully with the accompaniments. The savory mise en bouche selections were absolutely delicious, adding a flavorful touch to the traditional tea experience.

Having previously visited the Louis Vuitton Café in New York, I can confidently say that our experience at the Palm Court was just as exceptional!

Between the elegant setting, attentive service & exceptional tea selection, it was a nice way to celebrate Valentine's Day. I would absolutely return for another afternoon tea!

People staying at the hotel & outside goes there for a good tea & have good time between friends or a romantic date.
Good selection of teas & may champagne could be added.
The place is beautiful, modern & quite.

Dropped by palm court for some drinks after desserts at maison boulud on a Saturday evening. The drinks & the service here were awesome. Their martinis were great. Think I'm into martinis now. Was definitely on the tipsy side by the time we were leaving. The bar will most likely have whatever cocktail you're thinking of. Pretty vibe. Good spot for a date or a good talk while sipping on cocktails.

I tried many afternoon tea restaurants in Montreal this summer & although the Palm Court is good, it's not the best. The experience was just ok for me however, the service was great.

I always love afternoon the Ritz in Montreal, however, my one complaint this time around is that they spray a VERY strong air freshener in their lobby & since the Palm Court is adjacent to the lobby, the scent becomes part of the tea experience. As someone who is highly sensitive to chemicals, this is extremely unpleasant to have to endure. With the knowledge we have today at how toxic air fresheners are, I cannot understand why hotels are subjecting their patrons to this.

The food at Palm Court was fantastic, & the ambiance is truly awesome, creating a perfect setting for a nice evening out. However, the service was not up to par, unfortunately. They seemed to be short-staffed, which resulted in long wait times. Hopefully, the service improves next time. Thanks!

What can you say about a place that exceeds your expectation? The tea tasting is amazing. How can I feel full from those tiny sandwiches? It must be magic! Service is above n beyond friendly, courteous n attentive. I went to celebrate my birthday n it was sooo worth it. I read that it was expensive but when you convert to US dollars, it's very reasonable, I'm worth it! It's a joy to be alive & be able to experience it.

The Palm court is amazing but on the other hand, needs to be booked well in advance!

The Palm Court lives up to its name in service & quality. The teatime service was memorable & the food, despite the higher price tag, was of good quality. Dont expect to be blown away by the food, but expect a very nice experience

Afternoon Tea First off, the waiting staff was courteous. Service was really flawless & I felt very cared for. The greeting was a bit awkward as it was hard to signal someone that I was waiting to be greeted by a host/hostess. Everything was quite delicious. We chose the Jasmin Mimosa, which was a treat. The sandwiches were delicious. Apart for one of them (the one that was not cucumber or cajun chicken). It was oddly dry in texture. The desserts were refined & quite generous in flavor. We left quite stuffed. It might seem a bit steep in price for tea time, but the whole experience was a delight, especially if you are offering yourself an experience for a special occasion. The only downfall for me was the cold/white light leaking through the top floor where a stand was installed. It clashed with the warm lights inside the Palm Court. Again a big thanks for Myriam & Jeffrey (I hope the spelling is accurate, it was a quick glance at their name tags.
