Indeed they made my first time visit felt welcoming. The take out order was efficiently done & all tasted quite good & reasonably priced especially after converting to US$. It is an upstairs restaurant, not to be confused with the downstairs one which has a different name.
Classic Chinese dishes served at fair prices. This is not five star dining, nor does it try to be. Just solid decent food. You're getting what you pay for. If you're expecting overly attentive service, or fancy plating, or an uncrowded restaurant, you might want go somewhere else.
Lowkey, upstairs Chinese restaurant serving as a staple of Montreal's Chinatown. This place has some years behind it. All the details you'd find in your typical North American Chinese restaurant, from the tableware to the menu items. The lunch special is a spectacular deal. I wish they had the red chilli oil but they did have some chilli sauce to offer me. Love the complimentary tea.
Keung Kee is not the fanciest place on earth, but OMG, the food is delicious. You know when a kitchen brigade is serious when, even on a sleepy sunday afternoon, it delivers superb delicious food! The case, here. Some of the most delicious Chinese food in Montreal (as long as you are not looking for anything fancy or confusing the Montreal Chinese food restaurant scene with something else)
One of the best place for authentic Cantonese cuisine. There steamed scallops are to die for. & also there softshell crab!!!! Every single dishes are delicious. Staffs are very friendly. & the taste is very constant. This is why we are the regulars. 😊 I highly recommend this place if you want some authentic Chinese cuisine.
The restaurant is upstairs, open til late Good selection of Chinese foods. NO DUMPLING don't ask them haha We asked them if they have the dumpling & the guy yelled back this is chinese restaurant, order something else. So we were forced to read the menu BOOK. Pages at late night Anyway, Food: great Price: $20-30 Service: rooms for improvement Atmosphere: classic local Chinese
I've eaten here several times. They prepare dishes quickly, & the food tastes authentic. I enjoyed the crab meat & fish soup & the veggies is not bad either. It's a convenient spot for groups, but it's a bit noisy & not suitable for formal conversations, so bear that in mind. Overall, I still like it if you wanna have Chinese food with friends & family.
A really good joint for authentic chinese food. One of the best places in chinatown imo.
It's definitely an interesting restaurant, the food is good & on par with the speed of service ! The fact that the restaurant is opened late at night is a life saver for anyone craving Chinese after a party ! I gotta say, we had the beef orange & the general Tao & both sauce felt too similar, next time i will take something different in terms of meat ! Their noodles / enoki mushroom rolls were really good too
An exceptional find for this who know where to look. This authentic Chinese experience is almost hidden from virtually everyone outside of locals in the know within Montreal's Chinatown community, behind an inconspicuous door leading up to the second storey location. While this visit was absolutely worth the three hour drive for us, it's worth noting that people with mobility issues will have no option but to traverse a long & narrow set of stairs. The food, served at the height of freshness, is vibrant & delicious. The presentation stands out from what you might expect from a normal Chinese food restaurant & is an experience in itself. An incredible culinary experience.
12/2023 update: Went back for their seafood dishes & boy did they meet my expectation! Amazing place for their Cantonese style seafood dish. Everything was amazing delish. From king crab to claims to lamb pot. Had an amazing food coma after my meal. Again, truly recommend to Asian seafood fanatics. ------ Very good Chinese restaurant with seafood goodies. Only downside is how small the place is.

I went there last summer with two friends & it was awesome. The BEST chinese restorant of montreal, with a huge list of choices!

Native Chinese here - my family has been going to this restaurant for decades. In terms of taste, this place nails it every time. The dishes are authentic, & there are lots of varieties to try. We don't go for the Westernized dishes like General Tao; we highly recommend the mushroom rolls which are a house specialty.
Just like you wouldn't expect foie gras at McDonald's, don't come here expecting top service or decor, but the food is well worth it.
