Camping ain't camping with good bread.
The Pullman from Guillaume is the only bread I'd bring on a multi-day trip. Perfect as toast, grilled cheese & french toast.
Ohhh & the White Chocolate Mushroom, I'll leave them to speak for themselves.
The unfortunate thing is I was actually most excited about this place when visiting MTL. I heard such great things from a friend & I walked over 30 mins to find it. This is sadly an example of more is less, & overproduction = lower quality. The pastries feel very subpar & bland. Almost as if they are making enough to feed the abundance of people coming into the shop but not taking the time to do anything special. I was unfortunately let down by this but they do have a blueberry tart that was a silver lining in all of this
This was so good! Friendly, attentive service. The croissant au fromage may be the best I've had in the city. The feuilleté suisse was incredibly fresh. 10/10 I will be coming back.
I've heard a lot about this famous bakery, so I tried baguette & chocolatine. The baguette was a little gummy, in general, nothing remarkable. The chocolatine was not a good experience, it didn't taste fresh, it was not crispy, it felt dry & the chocolate didn't taste good. The service is acceptable. Not coming back.
I tried the mushroom cake, the regular croissant, & I think it was called the Elizabeth something cake (sorry if I don't recall correctly). The mushroom cake had a crunchy topping with a coconut flavour, which I'm not usually a fan of, but I really liked the regular croissant. It had layers of creamy flavour & smelled great. The mushroom cake was just okay, to be honest.
Amazing selection of breads & other baked goodies! They have almost everything you can think of, from the classic pastries & breads to some remarkably innovative combinations. I was incredibly tempted by everything in the display case -- especially since the bakery smells like butter & sugar -- but eventually settled on their white chocolate brioche. The chocolate is mixed into the batter to give the entire roll a slightly sweet flavor, which is delightful when paired with the already soft, pillowy, & buttery brioche. I can't wait to go back & try more of their selection!
One of my favorites bakeries in Montreal & probably of all the Mile End neighborhood. Every single of their baked goods are fresh, prepared with love, generous & very tasty. The champignon is their most famous seller but I have a soft spot for their chocolate chip cookie & lemon cake. I haven't tried everything but there's always a good excuse to come back.
Best bakery in Montréal hands down! 🥖✨
Boulangerie Guillaume never disappoints. I picked up the pain brioché & the miche de levain both absolutely divine! The champignon à la vanille & the pralinée pastries were next-level delicious, such unique flavors done perfectly. Also grabbed the pain fesse au fromage… SO good, cheesy, fluffy, just wow. Everything is fresh, flavorful, & made with so much love. A must-visit for any foodie in the city!
Meilleure boulangerie de Montréal, sans hésiter! 🍞💛
The Queen Elizabeth cake is one of the best baked goods I've ever eaten. A date cake with a coconut caramel topping. Incredible stuff.
Excellente boulangerie. Le service est toujours courtois malgré l'achalandage. Quand on aime vraiment quelque chose.
Cheese croissant is just amazing here, white chocolate & vanilla mushroom too. They even have many types of sourdough & everything is freshly baked. Their olive ciabatta bread is just delicious. I visited the place many times & I got a very good service from the staff. I would really appreciate it. They recently released a new thing called browkie I guess brownie+cookie which is interesting. I definitely recommend this place if you love traditional sourdough & baguette.
Leurs produits sont très bons, mais c'est la première boulangerie que je vois sans trancheuse, ce qui est particulièrement gênant. Pour ma part, c'est typiquement le genre de détail qui me pousse à aller ailleurs.
The bread is fine. Be warned that if you buy a loaf they won't slice it for you.
