Review Summary

Reviewers consistently praise Boulangerie Guillaume for exceptional breads and pastries, with standout sourdoughs, croissants and champignon bread, a rich butter aroma, and a welcoming, friendly staff that adds to the experience. The variety is broad and signs of craft are evident across many items, making it a go to bakery for quality and flavor in Montreal. Some critiques note occasional turnover fluctuations that leave older loaves on certain days, pastries that can be drier or sweeter than expected, and the absence of a bread slicer which can be inconvenient for taking loaves home. A few visits mention price increases or busy conditions affecting service, but most reviews express a strong desire to return and regard Guillaume as a staple destination for artisanal baked goods.

There's a lot of great spots in the Mile End but there's something very special about Guillaume. Everything I've tried here is amazing quality, & prices are great too. The Queen Elizabeth cake is unbelievable. 🔥

I tried the mushroom cake, the regular croissant, & I think it was called the Elizabeth something cake (sorry if I don't recall correctly). The mushroom cake had a crunchy topping with a coconut flavour, which I'm not usually a fan of, but I really liked the regular croissant. It had layers of creamy flavour & smelled great. The mushroom cake was just okay, to be honest.

One of my favorites bakeries in Montreal & probably of all the Mile End neighborhood. Every single of their baked goods are fresh, prepared with love, generous & very tasty. The champignon is their most famous seller but I have a soft spot for their chocolate chip cookie & lemon cake. I haven't tried everything but there's always a good excuse to come back.

The Queen Elizabeth cake is one of the best baked goods I've ever eaten. A date cake with a coconut caramel topping. Incredible stuff.

It's a bakery. I want to give it four & a half, but it only had full Stars. The bread, the cakes & the sandwiches are delicious. They also serve coffee. If I am only buying bread, I prefer to pay cash, otherwise I have to fiddle around with the credit card reader, seeking out the no_tip button as I refuse to leave a tip to buy an everyday item of basic food. For coffee I will gladly leave a tip.
