We did not like the taste of the rice.they use very low quality rice which ruins the taste of whole dish. The kobideh kebab wasn't taste good too. & despite many available seats we were asked to sit close to washroom which wasn't nice too.
From the moment we walked in, everything was perfect. The atmosphere is warm, elegant, & very welcoming. The food is outstanding. Every dish was full of rich, authentic Iranian flavors & cooked to perfection. The kebabs were juicy & tender, the rice was fragrant, & the portions were very generous.
If you are looking for authentic Iranian cuisine in Montreal, Behesht is a must-visit. High-quality food, excellent service, & a lovely ambiance. We will definitely be coming back again & again!
Highly recommended 🌿🍽?💚
This was a first catering order for us & we do not recommend this restaurant due to *lateness*, *incomplete preparation*, *inappropriate presentation* & poor quality of food. It didn't seem like they understood what it means to cater ready food nor that they appreciated our business.
We ordered food for multiple people for our Christmas party & asked that the rice & meat be kept in separate containers for an agreed upon time. Results:
- We drove an hour to get to the restaurant & arrived a few minutes before the pickup time, we were told we're'early' & had to wait another 45 minutes, which derailed our party dinner plans.
- The food was packed in individual portions instead of all meat together & rice together, which meant we had to separate the meat & rice & rearrange everything before serving.
- The kebab skewers were broken & not grilled enough, no saffron, which is terrible koobideh by any standards.
- The lettuce & cucumber & tomatoes were not even chopped so we had to make the salad ourselves!
- The'yellow' color on the rice looked like food colouring instead of saffron so we had to improvise ourselves.
In the end, we had to re-grill the kababs ourselves & add saffron to make it presentable & we had to make the salads ourselves from the ingredients. As a result of the restaurant's sloppy service our dinner plans were delayed by 2 hours, which is why we will not order from this restaurant again.
Ive tried koobideh here
Strong tase of beef for koobideh also basmati rice is not a good choice for a persian restaurant meal
Total I wasn't satisfied
The kebab was really good, one or the bests I've ever eaten in Canada, but the I've had better rice to be honest. I asked them to bring Tahdig & they brought! The staff were friendly, on top of that the food was prepared so fast!!
I recommend this place, the food is pretty good. Just if only they could serve Persian rice. The quality of their food would have been much more better.
Would give more than 5 starts if I could.
The portion sizes are enough to suffocate a bear & the flavors are wonderful.
The addition of the side salad is a highly generous gesture. Not only was it fresh, but also very tasteful with its middle-eastern-style dressing.
We ordered takeout & expected to be scammed out of regular portion sizes. Instead, they gave enough rice to feed a family of four for a week.
The lamb shank was reasonably priced, & so was the delivery. The delivery was very efficient as well.
The only gripe I have is the lack of utensils, but who cares when the food is so spectacular.
Behesht is truly a taste of heaven.
It was interesting that they gave margarine instead of butter.
We got two vazariri & one sultani in addition to the lamb shank.
Rating: ★★★☆☆
I've been visiting Behesht monthly since its opening. While it started strong, the food quality has noticeably declined. During my last visit, the rice was poorly cooked, & the Barg kebab lacked authentic flavor. Only one non-Persian-speaking server was available, leading to long waits. Restroom facilities were also lacking basic hygiene supplies. Still, great parking, nostalgic decor, & polite staff deserve mention.
Very beautiful restaurant & very delicious food my son was surprised with super delicious'kebab' & special rice, & very nice & kind stuff 😊 I highly recommend going to this restaurant!
Very bad smell & dry rice
Not very delicious Koobideh
The best kebab barg I've had in Montreal so far. Rice wasn't to my standard, 1 person to serve the whole floor is not a good idea. Although she really worked hard & I admire her dedication.
This place is their new location at the corner of cavendish & st Jacques. Wonderfully decorated & truly a place of warmth & class. Staff are friendly though some had difficulty speaking & understanding English - though Farci is a staple at this restaurant :) The menu is wide & plated as good or better than in the photos. Pricing is on par with other Persian restaurant of this caliber. Portions were excellent. Freshness & quality are excellent. Review. Salad was fresh, cold & crisp. Dressing was good but nothing special. Lamb shank stew (Baghali Polo with Mahicheh) - not recommended. Portion was on the small side. Meat was rubbery & the flavour was lacking. Something wrong likely how they cooked it as it's supposed to be fall of the bone tender. It could be the cut they used & how they cooked it. The fava bean & dill rice was plentiful but overly seasoned with dill, the beans were hard & not tender, & the rice was very dry. It's likely they prepared the typical rice & then added in the additional ingredient & then over cooked the rice - came with a small piece it tahdeek. Also, insufficient amount of stew / gravy. There was not enough to properly marry with the tough, dry & chewy meat. Chicken kebab (chicken Koobideh). The chicken was cooked perfectly as well as seasoned beautifully. The portion was plentiful & came with perfectly cooked basmati rice that was fluffy & not greasy & came with a small piece it tahdeek. Beef kebab (Koobideh) was perfectly seasoned & cooked. It's was so juicy & fresh like no other restaurant has done to match. As per above, cake with & excellent tasting portions of basmati rice & a piece of tahdeek. Yogurt with Persian shallot dip (Must Moosir) was perfect & balanced with a thick creamy yogurt & excellent on pita or combined with the proteins. Portion was very good & four people can easily share. Eggplant dip (Mirza Ghasemi) was superb! Best in the city for sure. The smokeless was on point & the seasoning was perfectly balanced. It's so good you just want to skip to pita & scoop it out with a utensil. Apparently this is their most ordered appetizer they sell. Portion was excellent & four people can easily share. Dessert. I have included the dessert we had & lack the name of it as it's also not mentioned in the menu. It's essentially layered thin pastry (like a proper French mille feuilles) with cream filling in & around it covered with chopped pistachios. I hope I have recalled this properly. This was such a delicious light & flavourful treat away from the typical Baklawa. The only point here is the price ratio to the portion - either the price is too high for the portion or the portion should be larger as it's no more two to (max) three small forkfuls. We didn't notice & mention of BYOB or the selling of any form of alcohol so plan not to consume here. This being stated, you really don't need the alcohol as the atmosphere, service & food really make you very relaxed & satiated. It's amazing how packed the place was & yet the demeanour of the customers was calm & the volume of the place was comfortable to be able to hear the person accepts the table from you. I mention this as if your like mane people, a restaurant with a more calm & quite atmosphere is actually an attraction especially for the elderly who may have hearing challenged. All in all the place is great & will be returning for certain. As for the 4 star rating, this is solely due to the lamb shank stew. It was just too far from "earning a star" & until this dish is prepared properly I without the star, though a more accurate number for me would be 4.5 stars. This being stated I doubt I would order it again as I would not be sure that the chief or management/ ownership will conclude with the same assessment & instead be quite defensive of their food prep & likely not change a thing. I would welcome peoples feedback on this dish to let me know your experience & hopefully one day this dish will be prepared as it should.
AWESOME food!!! I tried all kebabs & they are all perfect… the rice is also awesome. The people & personnels are SUPER nice!!!
Behesht Restaurant in Montreal is a great spot for authentic Iranian cuisine. The food, service, & prices are all excellent, making it a perfect choice for anyone craving Persian flavors. We ordered the Toranj platter for two, which was beautifully presented & came with a generous variety of four kebabs: koobideh (ground beef), chicken koobideh, chicken kebab, & barg kebab. It also included two plates of fragrant saffron rice & a choice of salad or soup, making it a hearty & satisfying meal. To complement our meal, we tried their yogurt with moosir (Persian shallots) & marinated olives, which were absolutely delicious & added a lovely touch of traditional flavors to the experience. The portions were generous, the kebabs were perfectly grilled, & everything was seasoned to perfection. The restaurant has a cozy & welcoming atmosphere, & the service was attentive & friendly throughout. For the quality of the food & the portion sizes, the prices were very reasonable. Behesht is definitely a must-visit for fans of Iranian cuisine or anyone looking to try something new.
I came because of the good comments. I ordered koobide kebab. Unfortunately, it smelled very strongly of onions. The amount of rice was very small & the food smelled of metal because it was served in a metal dish. The salad was dry & not fresh. The waiter was an inexperienced teenage boy, & the chair Very much compared to the size of the restaurant.
The quality & taste are less than before, the rice smelled bad
We ordered several dishes. I wasn't lucky with mine. I tried Fesenjoon with rice. I didn't like it. It's a thick heavy & sweetie stew. The rest of the food was delicious
The quality of the food has really gone down compared to the early days of this restaurant. They're using the lowest quality rice, & the rice served is really tasteless. The kebab skewers have also gotten thinner every time I've come
The quality of koobideh kebab was so bad & the rice was awful. The rest was good.
