Très déçue. Les pâtisseries ne sont pas bonnes & c'est très cher pour la qualité. Je n'ai aimé ni le petit pain au chocolat, ni la mousse au chocolat, ni les merveilleux. Le seul goût acceptable était le caramel.
Their croissants are top quality! It's a high end offering with very fair prices. Service is really professional & the place is super clean, white & neat. All preparations happen in an open kitchen in front of you, proof of quality, professionalism & cleanliness. They use top ingredients. I always go there for the chocolate croissant (so far best in Montreal) & the coffee

Les pains au chocolat + pains au chocolat aux amandes sont délicieux. Les produits sont frais. L'endroit est accessible en poussette & fauteuil roulant (même si ce n'est pas évident car le lieu est très restreint, il y a une rampe d'accès)

Aux Merveilleux de Fred is pure magic. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the aroma of freshly baked pastries & the sight of pastry chefs crafting delicate creations behind the counter. Their signature dessert-the Merveilleux-is a cloud-like blend of meringue, whipped cream, & chocolate that melts in your mouth. It's unlike anything I've tasted before. They disappeared within seconds.
Came here on a whim, & stopped by to get a chocolate merveilleux. It was delicious & the staff were patient & helpful. They explained the items really well & the service was quick. Will definitely be back.

Bonjour, j'avais hâte d'essayer cet endroit mais je fût déçue. Oui, l'endroit est beau & le personnel est respectueux. Cependant, l'habit ne fait pas le moine hihihi 😉. Les patissiers sont super bien habillés, la place est propre mais certaines de leurs patisseries manquent de saveurs, de personnalité & d'intention. Désolée, mais le croissant, le pain au chocolat & le gâteau dense au raisin, la meringue ne sont pas wow. Je ne fût pas très impressionnée & mon invité non plus, malheureusement. Je vous invite à tout de même vous faire votre propre opinion.
En passant devant la boutique, on a vraiment envie d'y entrer. L'endroit est charmant & l'odeur alléchante. On a goûté au croissant, qui était assez bon, mais honnêtement, on en trouve de bien meilleurs dans plusieurs pâtisseries de Montréal. La brioche au chocolat était excellente : douce & savoureuse. La chocolatine, quant à elle, était plutôt ordinaire.
Les merveilleux, par contre, étaient vraiment très bons : légers & délicieux, on en a pris une boîte de 10.
Cela dit, je n'ai pas mis plus d'étoiles à cause du service. J'habite à Montréal depuis 14 ans, & même si mon français est loin d'être parfait, je peux travailler & communiquer sans problème dans cette langue. La jeune femme qui nous a servis a été assez désagréable. Dès mon entrée, je l'ai saluée en français, mais elle a répondu sèchement. Ensuite, en commandant, je lui ai demandé une boîte de 10 merveilleux, un croissant, une chocolatine & une brioche. Elle m'a répondu en anglais (avec un niveau bien pire que mon français) que la boîte de 10 merveilleux était une boite cadeaux. Je lui ai confirmé en français que je le savais & que cela ne posait aucun problème. Malgré cela, elle a insisté pour me parler en anglais, comme si j'étais incapable de comprendre le français. À ce moment-là, j'ai simplement continué en anglais.
Je suis sorti déçu de la boutique. L'endroit sent bon & donne envie, mais malheureusement, je ne peux pas en dire autant du service - du moins, pas celui de cette employée (samedi 8 mars 2025, vers 15h45).

We came here initially knowing nothing about the Merveilleux, drawn in by the bakery's charming exterior & intriguing name. From the very first bite, we were captivated. The combination of textures-the crisp yet delicate meringue, the light, creamy filling, & the flavorful outer coating-was unlike anything we'd tried before. Delighted by our discovery, we've since returned several times, each visit as enjoyable as the first. The interior of the bakery is as much a treat as its desserts. The space is beautifully adorned with a touch of old-world elegance, featuring a grand chandelier & an open kitchen where you can watch the pastry chefs work their magic. At the back, a few small tables create a cozy spot to sit & savor the experience at a leisurely pace. The staff are warm, friendly, & eager to help, patiently answering questions & making thoughtful recommendations for newcomers like us. Aux Merveilleux de Fred doesn't just serve desserts-it offers a moment of indulgence that feels luxurious & special. If you're in Montreal & looking to try something both unique & unforgettable, this bakery is not to be missed.
C'est toujours un plaisir de venir déguster la brioche du merveilleux de Fred. Mon opinion sera peut-être démesurée car je suis une grande fan de leur brioche (au sucre) & j'ai aussi adorée celle aux pépites de chocolat. Donc je viens mettre un commentaire pour vanter les mérites de ces brioches ! ! Surtout quand elles sortent du four… Leur mocha aussi est succulent ! Intensément chocolaté. Le service est topissime! Bref, une vraie merveille ce Fred!
The bakery looks wonderful as you walk in. You can see the pastry chefs working their art, rolling the croissants dough. We had the chocolate merveilleux & the one with nuts. There is meringue at the bottom with a cream enrobed in the chocolate & nuts. They were pretty good. Also had the chocolate croissant which looked better than it tasted, perhaps because it was not warm.
