If going there twice in three days in a five day trip to Montreal doesn't tell you how awesome the place is, I do not know what will.
The servers are extremely knowledgeable of all the items on the menu & can recommend the best dish for you if you are not sure what to order & you will be impressed with whatever they recommend. We had the mussels, the steak frites, the braised beef cheeks & it is really hard to pick a favourite. The atmosphere is awesome & the staff is so friendly. on the two occasions we were served by Charlotte & Matt & they were tremendous & the manager came in both visits to check on us. Highly highly recommended

We went back this year! Again, great service & food! True classic! A veritable Parisian experience in the heart of Montreal… absolutely delicious classic French brasserie type of fare. Beef cheek bourguignon served over dreamy mashed potatoes was divine… the endive salad a delight! Highly recommend…

I had the moules frites & it was some of the best muscles I ever had. The server was amazing & knowledgeable & helped to select a great wine! Location is stunning. 10/10

L'accueil, le décor de fou, l'ambiance, super tranquille tranquille, on s'entend parler, on nous explique le menu, on nous recommandé des choses, on sent qu'on est spécial, c'est vraiment un service personnalisé & chaleureux, super rapide aussi ce que nous avons apprécié, car nous avions un spectacle, nous sommes passés un super beau moment. Je recommande 100%. C'était tellement bon !!! Un beau menu varié & réconfortant avec de beaux cocktails.

The food at Holder was absolutely amazing, & the restaurant itself is beautiful. We tried the tartare, calamari, duck, salmon, & steak, & everything was excellent. Every dish was delicious & beautifully prepared.

One of our friends has severe food allergies, which we notified the restaurant about when making the reservation. They assured us it wouldn't be an issue, & when we arrived they had prepared a special menu for our friend & made it clear they would take extra care. We really appreciated the attention they gave to this & it made us feel very comfortable dining there.

The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star experience was the service & timing. It felt a little clunky throughout the evening. Our cocktails took quite a while to arrive, & our second round didn't come until after we had completely finished our meals. The food itself came out quickly, but the timing was off - our starters arrived at the same time as the main courses, & one of the starters we ordered was forgotten altogether.

Overall, the food was fantastic, the restaurant is beautiful, & the way they handled the food allergies was excellent. With smoother service & better timing between drinks, starters, & mains, this easily would have been a 5-star experience. We would definitely return.

Booking ahead for a busy Sunday night dinner turned out to be a great decision at this reasonably priced spot. Every bite hit the mark-from the delicious mussels & mule cocktail to the standout crème brûlée. While the service was a bit stretched thin due to the bustling room, the friendly understanding of the high-energy rush made it easy to overlook, rounding out a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
