Absolutely stupendous!! Seafood is the freshest, Alaskan crab was delicious, PEI oysters - yum! Steak - the best one I have ever had. It was Cowboy. Perfect medium rare, perfect char. Hands down it was such a treat!
Amazing food, great steakhouse, one of the best I've ever been to. Service is pretty good. Atmosphere feels like you are in Las Vegas, amazing restaurant, come here over once every year.

Service was great, mac n cheese truffle entree was unbelievably good. Everything else was mediocre to not good. Steaks are cooked perfectly inside but charred on the outside, like burnt, if you tap your fork on steak its like tapping a table, they say it's because it's dry aged but other steakhouses i've visited with dry age steaks don't have this problem, if you like your steak this way it's 5 stars. I also agree with what most people say, hugely overpriced for what you get.
I'll happily state that the staff we were assigned were great. Knowledgeable about food & liquor & made the experience fantastic in that regard. What I will address though is that after much fanfare I was ultimately let down by the majority of food that my wife & I ate at the 6 party table. •Oysters • Tofu • Fillet Mignon with Bone •Half a dozen whiskeys Shared was:, bottles of mineral, coffees, cakes & the other 4 people's mains etc etc I'll state that my steak required a certificate in carpentry to cut. I'd estimate 10-15 full back & forth motions. This was the fillet mignon. Fat was not rendered, meat did not cut, meat was chewy & tendony & honestly had no flavour profile other than being charred & salty. As an Aussie, not the preferable kind either. I'll leave that at that. Nothing else needed saying if you cook your own steaks carefully & have worked with finer cuts of meat. You will not find that convenience if going out to get it here. A disappointment for a birthday outing. Tofu. Dry, hard, somehow over seasoned in the surface yet fibrous & bland throughout. Sides were fine for portion but carried the dish far more than its namesake. & I dare say that may have been an elevated rating given by the comparison of the tofu. Also whoever pulled our unspeakable espresso shots. Spem populo dare. Da illis semel As it is. Fine decor, exceptional wait staff, middling food. Reminds me a little of my military officer dinners.
Great ambiance, quality steaks & excellent service aimed to keep the customer curious, entertained & in the process making the time memorable. Kudos to Rashid & team for a wonderful evening yesterday serving our group of about 12 people. Now to the main course - the food... If you visit this restaurant, do order the seafood tower - you're welcome! Lobster, jumbo shrimp, crab, oysters - in an impeccable presentation. Appetizers - we ordered at the recommendation of Rashid a few - calamari, scallops, an engineered feat of a small pita with cheese & caviar put together at the table, & Japanese Wagyu samplers- the entire team thoroughly enjoyed the starters. At some point someone asked if we even needed any steaks! Now to the steaks. Rashid brought out a bunch of cuts to explain the different nuances - it was obvious that he's done it a few times, as he went through it seamlessly! Most of the team were intrigued by the bone-in fillet mignon, an 18 oz, roughly 2" thick steak with enough marbling to render a juicy steak after it hits the 1500 degree Celsius coal fired grill. The second crowd favorite was the Cowboy steak. Verdict - from an ambiance & service standpoint, I rate the restaurant & it's crew as 5 stars. On the seafood - 5 stars again, a rarity from my side to rate seafood at a Steakhouse for 5 stars. & the ratings for the steaks - 4 stars. & my reasons for not rating them at 5 stars. Start with the Japanese Wagyu samplers - I didn't find the Wagyu samplers to be in the top category comparing similar samplers I've had in the recent past, most notably Blueblood Steakhouse at Toronto Casa Loma. The bone-in fillet mignon was unique & I've never seen this on a menu till now. It was cooked perfectly well & as you go closer to the bone, the flavors increase as well. I definitely enjoyed the steak. Overall, a quality Steakhouse with an excellent seafood offerings in the Montreal area, which I'll highly recommend for any connoisseurs of a good steak!
Delicious food & great service. We had Cesar salad, steak, seafood linguine & the warm apple tart with ice cream. My only issue was they tried to seat us at the farthest table in the back corner even though we had a reservation snd there was plenty of empty tables. When we said we didn't want that table the hostess said she had to ask if any other table was available. The manager saw we were not happy & moved us in the middle right away. Second time this happened to us. Never saw this anywhere else I think they try to fill the less popular tables first .
Amazing restaurant, steaks cut to order by the in-house butcher. Grilled to perfection on hardwood charcoal, the steaks were tender & flavourful. Pricing is very reasonable for a high-end steakhouse.
We had our Christmas party tonight & there were 19 people in our party. Rashid was our waiter & did an amazing job. His team provided the best service & was very helpful in describing the different steaks & what would be best to eat. We were very satisfied & enjoyed the night.
World Class Food & Service Wow Wow Wow, what an excellent experience. We chose 40 Westt for our company holiday supper & we are so happy that we did. Anthony overseas his team with great detail & pride. From the moment we walked in, the 3 hostesses received us with glowing smiles & all the assistance we needed to feel welcomed. Our food varying from steaks to seafood was nothing less than perfection. Our waitress Farah gave us exceptional service from beginning to end, her recommendations were on point for everyone & she never steered from our every need. Although this was not our first time at 40 Westt, overall I have to say that this is one of our finest dining experiences. It all ran smoothly, everything was delicious & we wanted for nothing. I can only say with great conviction that I would highly recommend to all who seek the best of the best. Best & Thanks, Marcel
Honestly the food was amazing. Best steak I’ve had in awhile (although standards are pretty low since I tend to get my steak undercooked everywhere I go…). Service was kind of odd for the type of since the waiter bumped into me, spilled water on me, & forgot to bring out the drink menu until we asked for it. Service was also pretty slow but that didn’t bother me as much. They also described this dessert as being some sort of amazing-out-of-this-world experience but it turned out to be a rly mediocre lava cake lol. Noted, bougie lava cake = chocolate soufflé ✨ . Strawberry shortcake was amazing thought, would come back for it.
Food was good but I find the staff unprofessional. Not the first time I’ve encountered this there. First They refused to provide a table d’hote menu because we were passed the limit of 6 persons (we were 8) company policy is what we were told. Any way we did order from it.secondly they wanted to charge us more money for a bottle of scotch than what was posted on the printed menu because on their computer it was $30 more. We refused & they charged what was on the menu.
Thirdly a $200 porterhouse steak & shrimp to be shared with 2 people didn’t seem like it was enough & barely came with any sides. & pretty much all the meals have a poor selection of sides, you have to order them separately even if you’re paying between $65-$90 for a steak.
Our meal cost us $1400 including tax & tip. At least the food was good.
Thank the hard working chefs
Food wasn't great plus I got really sick from it. My husband get sick during dinner.... My steak was so charred it tasted burn, lacked flavour & came with only mashed potatoes no vegetables. The bread was burn on the bottom & tasted like it. The wedge salad lacked flavor, the wedge at The Keg is a million times better. The waiter was great, super nice & funny. The restaurant is outdated & a little too dark. Definitely being generous with the 3 stars ....
It was hopping for a Monday night,l (a year ago, late review) which I was very happy to see. We ordered some appetizers to share (salmon tartare, beef tartare, & tuna sashimi). Hubby & mum-in-law loved the tuna sashimi best. For plump oysters on half shell, wait for the season. Now is not the season. Bread basket was an eye pleaser & caraway pumpernickel bread delish. I ordered a filet mignon topped with melted brie on top of garlic mashed potatoes with a reduction of red wine sauce, absolutely sublime. The steak was perfectly seasoned & cooked perfectly medium, & cuts like butter. Our son ordered the cowboy steak, rare, & it came very rare. Its nice to see a restaurant cook the steaks exactly to customer's request. Its so easy to fail it & they passed with flying colors. Looking forward to comming back. & dress nicely, the resto is on the upscale side. Thick linen napkins & table cloth.
