Absolutely love this place. The eel poke is outstanding, & the chef-who I believe is also the owner-is incredibly warm & welcoming. The quality of the produce is exceptional, especially considering how reasonable the prices are. A truly special spot that I can't recommend highly enough. Simple put, a Montreal gem & a must-try.
Our go-to-place for affordable & delicious sushi in Montreal. My boyfriend & I visit it often, even on our birthday nights when it's a workday but we still want something nice before the weekend party.
Be sure to order in advance, or prevent about 30min of wait, especially during peak hours. We usually enjoy just sit there & talk with the chef, or order then go to St-Laurent, get a coffee & some natas before we come back.
We would recommend the torched sushis #14 & #16, & for poke we recommend either eel or salmon.
Restaurant super agréable, les makis étaient absolument délicieux, fait avec soin avec des ingrédients frais & de qualité, le tout à très bon prix.

Les meilleurs poke bowl que j'ai mangé. Les portions sont très généreuses & tous les produits sont d'une excellente qualité & très bons. De plus, le prix est vraiment très raisonnable pour la qualité & la générosité !

Incredible sushi, really fresh & prepared very well. The chef/proprietor is very friendly & interesting to speak with. He opened in May 2024 & works very long hours to make sure his food is the best it can be. Even the soy sauce (which the chef makes himself) had a noticeable, above the norm taste. We had sushi but the people sitting next to us had the poke bowls which looked amazing. I recommend looking at the menu & deciding which items you would prefer Not to have, then asking the chef to recommend items from the rest of the menu… His suggestions for us were spot on.
I will admit that I was skeptical of all the five star reviews, but after dinning there I see they are genuine & well deserved.
Update 8/28/2025 - I came back a year later. The sushi was just as amazing as I remember from 2024. The owner is doing an amazing job. He has maintained & even elevated the high quality & integrity of his restaurant. UTO Sushi well deserves its strong reputation.

Ce petit restaurant sans prétention propose des sushis absolument exceptionnels. La fraîcheur des ingrédients est indiscutable, & le riz est cuit à la perfection - chaque bouchée est un vrai régal.
L'attention du maître sushi est remarquable : on sent la passion & le souci du détail dans chaque assiette.
C'est, selon moi, le meilleur sushi en ville.
Je le recommande sans la moindre hésitation !
Wow, absolutely by far the best poke bowl I've had. Curated with attention to ingredients & flavors. Would highly recommend this place to those that are thinking twice!

there is only one chef who's incredibly nice & really friendly, the sushi was so beautiful i felt bad eating it but it was the most delicious sushi I've ever had & probably ever will have. 10/5 stars definitely recommend coming here.
En 2 semaines, c'est la 3e fois que nous venons dans ce restaurant. Nous sommes toujours bien servis. Produits frais & service impeccable.

Un lieu petit, mais excellent! J'ai pris un poké saumon & il était aussi bon que beau. Je recommande de passer commande avant d'y aller.

Excellent sushi prepared by the owner. I suggest you order in advance as he works alone. The place is tiny with few seats good enough for eating solo, otherwise best to take-away. I recommend the torched-salmon sushi.
