Absolutely love this place. The eel poke is outstanding, & the chef-who I believe is also the owner-is incredibly warm & welcoming. The quality of the produce is exceptional, especially considering how reasonable the prices are. A truly special spot that I can't recommend highly enough. Simple put, a Montreal gem & a must-try.

I am just so addicted to this spot. UTO has no doubt the best sushi I have ever had in my life. The dishes are really of Michelin-star quality. A spot not to miss when in Montreal.
Incredible sushi, really fresh & prepared very well. The chef/proprietor is very friendly & interesting to speak with. He opened in May 2024 & works very long hours to make sure his food is the best it can be. Even the soy sauce (which the chef makes himself) had a noticeable, above the norm taste. We had sushi but the people sitting next to us had the poke bowls which looked amazing. I recommend looking at the menu & deciding which items you would prefer Not to have, then asking the chef to recommend items from the rest of the menu… His suggestions for us were spot on.
I will admit that I was skeptical of all the five star reviews, but after dinning there I see they are genuine & well deserved.
Update 8/28/2025 - I came back a year later. The sushi was just as amazing as I remember from 2024. The owner is doing an amazing job. He has maintained & even elevated the high quality & integrity of his restaurant. UTO Sushi well deserves its strong reputation.
Very nice experience, fresh sushi, nice prices, combo platters don't feel like another boring cucumber/avocado boring combination. Definitely my new favorite spot. i hope this hidden gem flourishes & keeps this quality of sushi in Montreal
Service was a little on the slower side but MAN the quality in the sushi is amazing. They play with texture & flavours making the eating experience absolutely phenomenal. We went to UTO on a whim & it was some of my best sushi experiences in a very long time! The food was 100% worth the wait.

Really great quality & tasty sushi at a good price! The chef was friendly & accommodating, & very generous with the fish!! Definitely my new go-to spot for sushi :)
The sushi is so fresh & tasty, even my daughter likes it & she so picky for food. We love sushi & poke bowls at this place more than others. The owners are so kind. Very recommended quality & price.

This is the best poke bowl I've ever had. The ingredients are very fresh & the portion is big. The boss is very strict in choosing the ingredients & only chooses the best quality, & he is very attentive, including all the sauces are his own exclusive recipes! Yum yum! Must try! ❤️
This small sushi spot is a hidden gem! The cozy atmosphere is complemented by excellent service &, most importantly, incredible food. The fish is fresh, the rolls are thoughtfully crafted, & every bite bursts with flavor. Despite its size, this place delivers on quality, making it a must-visit for any sushi lover. Highly recommend!
Today I orderd combo quebec & Ukayama uramaki from this sushi place. The food was so fresh & the quality was good. Although I am so picky about sushi, I really liked the taste!
